0 STARS! BEWARE! ALARM PROTECTION LLC. sold my wife alarm service which supposedly was a 1 year contract. ENDED up being a 5yr contract! and they are expensive, nearly 3 times the price of others. It started with $90/month for 3 months to pay for equipment/install then it would be 39.99/month after. The monthly bill has been $60/month! We set the alarm on November 24th last year when we went out of town, My neighbor called me saying that the alarm is going off. 15 minutes later my dad (who lives an hour away) calls me and says " hey is everything ok, your alarm company just called" ! They never called me or my wife and it took 15 minutes to call my dad, since when is my dad even a contact person, why would they call him and not me!!! So I called to cancel because I am dissatisfied with the service and they said we can cancel but we owe $ 2,073.00 !!! I asked why and they said we are in a 60 month contract!!!! I told them no we are in a 1 year contract and they were very rude stating that if I cancel they will put it in collections and it will go on my credit. . If I am not mistaken any time you pay for a service and either party doesn't hold up to their end then the other can back out of the contract. They say that just because me and my wife weren't called when alarm went off isn't a good enough reason to break contract!!!! Isn't that the only reason you have an alarm..... WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! Took 3 times calling them for someone to answer. Other times you're on hold then it beeps and hangs up. This company have door-to-door guy who goes around bothering homeowner to sign up for their alarm protection. It was the first year that we had move into our very first home. A representative go by the name of Jacob D. Bluth was badgering us on getting this alarm system. As we told Jacob we need time to think about it because we know nothing about alarm system and would like to shop around. Jacob insisted that he was giving us a price of a lifetime and we were to miss out this amazingly good price if we do not sign up now. He told me it wasn't a smart move if we pass up on this opportunity and also rushing us to make the decision, which I now regret, by saying his tech-guy is in the car waiting and we would be wasting his time if we say no. He then went on and on about how perfect this alarm system is going to work in our home. For the price seem a little high we hesitate to sign the agreement. He GUARANTEED that we will not find a better offer. My sister just bought a house a couple months ago. Her home have the same system for only $18/month. It include all her windows sensor, doors, two motion detectors and two alarmed panel all wireless under no contract. I have been with this alarm system for about two years now. They're charging me $50/month and forced us on a 60 months contract. This include one motion detector, two door senor and one wireless alarmed panel. Our motion sensor do not even work 5/10 times. I would armed away and would still walk in my house using the bathroom then walk out and it wouldn't go off. They advertise "a safe piece of mind" when my windows are not sensors. What kind of "safe piece of mind" when I know burglar can still come through my windows? My house have at least 25 windows total. Kind of out beat the purposed of having an alarmed in the first placed. I called the 1888-278-3008 customer's service number multiple of times. They keep transferring me and hanging up on me. Customer service needs help. You can't see or manage your account online. You have to call their toll free number and wait, and wait. Transferring service to new owners that purchase my property has been a convoluted process. Every time you turn around its something else. Do not ask them to call you back because it won't happen. I would not recommend this company and I will not be utilizing them for future alarm needs based on my experience over the past 2 months. read more

If I could give (-) stars I would!! this company is a total scam!!! Their name was Silverline Security and after getting terrible ratings and law suits they changed their name to APT. They come to your house and talk about alarm systems. Me and my husband decided to get one. They come to your house that night (9:30 for me - no call before just a door knock!!!!) put the system in - this is their way to lock you in. I did my research the next day after being freaked out that they would actually come to my house late that night. They had bad reviews and I found the true story to their company. They charged my account twice (after cancelling not even a day later) and when I called they said that they wound only refund my money to one charge and not the other. I have filed a BBB complaint and hope this does not happen to anyone else!! read more

Don't even wanna give them one star. The salesman stopped by my house, yes he had an Alder hat and shirt. He had me under the impression they bought out ADT. He told me they were having problems with people cutting telephone wires so my system needed updating. I told him my father was the one who made the financial decisions. I let him know several times I didn't make the financial decisions and my father will more than likely not be interested at ALL. He told me I had 10 days to try it out, again I told him my father pays the bills. I told him he needed to speak with him, he gave me the whole spill about what a deal I was getting if I let the guy install it within 2 days or I would loose the free installation. I said he can come tomorrow around 2 and meet with my father. WELL.... as the scam goes on he was claiming he was trying to reach the installer who works my area. Then, he says he is in the area now it will only take 15 min. I have 10 days to try it out, if I'm not satisfied cancel. So.... the installer comes in, he's changed my ADT wall unit to this nice digital touch screen. I said look the guy said I have 10 days....he gives me a look and says 2 or 3 business days not 10. I said so when did you guys buy out ADT... He said WE DIDN'T. I said how much is this service a month bc he told me (salesman) it was 49.00 but with my home owners it would be 39.00. WELL.k.. the technician told me I got the discount from my homeowners not them and He WASN'T SURE HOW MUCH THE MONTHLY SERVICE WAS, 49.00$ he thought, but couldn't say for sure. I then learn while checking my credit karma the salesman ran a credit check on me without my knowledge. Yes, I am also at fault for being nieve. But Alder is a scam. Beware read more

I just had a sales person come to my door and lie saying they were with ADT. He quickly showed his badge. He had me convinced and told me ADT had a old and defective security system in. He asked me if he could come in and verify it. I let him in then his words changed to he was over ADT. Lots of lie upon lie...he set my alarm off ADT called and asked what happened and we told him their employee was here.y husband handed him the phone, and he said he was with this company and didn't give them an employee number. The police showed up and come to find out he didn't have a license. People be careful who you talk to at your door. I spoke with ADT and this is a common scam. God was looking out for us, I'm sorry for all the other people who signed the contract. He tried to get us to sign up today only but all this happened in the mist of it all. I've had the Alder Security System about 2 months. I emailed a Jordan M. to find out about "who" was doing the monitoring, since my city requires an alarm permit. I never received anything back from him after he stated I could call, email, etc with any questions. Also I'm not even sure when the alarm goes off that it is connected to any monitoring company? If it is, it is an awfully slow response by the company or not at all. I've opened the back door to let dogs out forgetting to turn the alarm off AND I have NEVER been called by anyone! I don't know what the system is set for (how many seconds/minutes) but think it is too long...if someone breaks in, they could steal everything and be gone easily before the alarm company is notified, if it is even connected to a monitoring company. Another time, I turned the alarm off with my cell phone, made sure it showed disarmed, opened door, was standing inside about a minute and the alarm goes off and had to put the code in the panel....never got a call from the alarm company when this happened? read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. This company is full of crooks. We've had our system for 10 months and are in the process of moving. In order to transfer the service to our new address, we either have to pay ANOTHER $99 install fee, which we paid in the beginning, AND must renew our contract for ANOTHER 5 years from today. Why do we have to renew when we're moving?! We're not terminating the contract - We're simply transferring it to a new address! I called them a total of FIVE times today. On the third call, I requested a copy of the contract that we signed. We never received it. I called back to the extension for the person I had spoken to: no answer. Seeming fishy? I called back into the general line and they just hung up on me. I called the general line AGAIN requesting a copy of the SIGNED contract for a second time. Still no signed contract in my inbox! We will be changing our banking information tomorrow to ensure they cannot withdraw any more funds from us. No proof of signed contract = no contract was signed. Bye, Alder. They get in the door with their pitch of ''We are only giving out a free alarm to a select 4 or 5 people and you just happen to be one of them and all we ask as that you give us good word of mouth and you take care of our sign. You respond with, ''What about monitoring?'' They say,''That is up to you, but just don't say zero". I told them 5 dollars is all I am willing to pay a month since you say my house is going to sell your alarms. Turns out $50 a month was the lowest monthly fee they would take. This company has the WORST customer service ever, they are very unprofessional and dishonest!! I became disable and my bill got behind, however after I started to receive disability I made arrangements to pay the balance owed and continue the service until the contract was over and still they sent my bill to collections after they made arrangements with me for automatic deductions from my account monthly, after several months of paying my bill Wesson who is the MANAGER informed me that I wasn't being monitored and that he would give me credit for those months, that never happened DO NOT do business with these people they think we as customers owe them something!!! RUN, RUN, RUN! As fast as you can. Do NOT use this service. Trying to cancel their service is like pulling teeth. Even though I agreed to pay the remainder of the contract balance, they still won't make it easy to cancel. Been trying to close the account for 3+ months now, keep getting their stupid option letters again and again with extension 730 that no ones ever picks up for hours on end. They require that a "cancellation form" to be physically mailed out, signed, and returned ro them. They can't email or fax the cancel form (WTF) physical mail takes 5 days to get. Each time I keep getting their stupid options letter, and not the cancellation form I asked for and on the options letter is to call and request for a cancellation form. You guessed it, its a vicious cycle. Let's see if I get yet another options letter in the next 5 days while asking for a cancelation form. Overpriced and shitty service. I would give this company zero stars if it was available. They signed my mother-in-law, who was 82 years old to a five year contract. She passed away in May at the age of 86. Two days after her passing, I called the company to notify them of her death and asked about a decrease in the rate since she no longer needed the medical pendant until we sold the house. We were told the pendant was "free" and the almost $50/month would continue until we sent a copy of the death certificate. We sold the house with finalization taking place on 8/1. We sent a copy of the death certificate on 7/17/16 which they verified they received. NOW, they claim that there is a 90 day review period. WE WERE NEVER TOLD IN SEVERAL PREVIOUS PHONE CALLS ABOUT A REVIEW PERIOD-WE SPOKE WITH PARKER AND BRADY. Today I spoke with Jake who told me Parker was new and uneducated and he was not responsible for what Parker or Brady told us. HE HUNG UP ON ME BECAUSE HE SAID THE CALL WAS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. We have filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and today Jake told me they had talked to the BBB but they are not accredited by them. That accreditation was revoked when they were known as APT. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AND WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW NOT TO USE THEM. When the sales person rang my door bell and I went to the door, he stood there just looking at me, looking at him waiting on him to introduce himself and tell me what he wanted, instead he made some snide comment that he doesn't usually talk to people through the screened (LOCKED) door, and I said, what do you want and he snickered and asked me if I knew a neighbor down the street, and I said yes, but that anyone who was doing a marketing profile could look up names on the internet, and again I asked him what he wanted. He then shoved his badge with ADLER boldly displayed and started talking to me in a slow choppy manner like you would a person who doesn't speak English, or to a 5-year-old. I interrupted him and asked him what he was selling, and he just walked away. Later I saw him at my neighbor's house across the street and I yelled and told my neighbor that this man was rude, condescending and probably selling a sub-standard product. After checking with the BBB and reading the other comments - now feel justified in cussing this person out on the street, as he went to each house on our block, and telling him to get out of our neighborhood. read more

I wish there was no star option. Today my alarm went off when it was not even set, after about 3 minutes I called to let them know it was a false alarm (they never called to check on me) I said they had no recorded of the alarm going off at all WHAT that is what I pay you for, what if had been an actual emergency, they proceed to transfer me to 5 different people and I spent 82 minutes on the phone over half of that on hold, each time having to go through the entire story and each time them coming up with some new excuse, all this to get a technician to come out and look at my system. Finally I hang up and call back to try to speak with a supervisor which no one will transfer me to, but finally after another 28 minutes I get a appointment set for some one to come out in 4 days. Really!!, than they tell me that it will cost a service fee for them to come out to fix THEIR non functioning equipment , and that their system shows it has not been working since Feb. Stay as far away from this company as you can, you will be paying for no service at all. read more

I am writing this review as I was scammed by Alarm Protection. After reading the other reviews, they describe exactly what happened to me. A young man came to my door and was dressed in the same colors as the ADT company I had. He said he noticed I had an old sign in the yard and he could put in a new one. He also asked if I had cameras and when I said no, he said he could also put those up for me. That was the beginning of the lies. He also told me he was the person for this area and that I could contact him at anytime on his cell phone. He never answered not called me back not returned my calls. I have called them many times telling them that I was scammed into getting the system in the first place and the stupid "camera" they put up is a camera, you have to take a picture to see the area and then the picture is so dark and unclear, you can't see anything. The nightmare goes on and on. At the time I signed the contract, my husband was in a nursing home dying of Lewy Body Dementia and I was dealing with that also. He passed away and I have now lost my job and had to sell that house and move to Florida with my sister. I don't need the system and can't afford it as I'm now living on Social Security. They will not let me out of the contract unless I pay them $2700, which I don't have. They have now changed their name to Alder Protection as I'm sure they are trying to get away from the terrible reviews that people write about them. Everything that people have said in their reviews is absolutely true. I'm going to also report them to every agency their is. I'm going to talk to the local TV stations here in Florida and they are very interested in my story as others have also contacted them about this same story. I will also contact an attorney in the area. There has to be a way to get out of this contract when things change in your life. read more

My father decided to get this security system after someone came around selling it. My dad passed away in November so I called first of December to cancel his service and they told me his monthly payment would automatically be taken out in December but would stop coming out from that point on but the request to cancel would have to go through a 90 day review and I would need to send the death certificate along with a letter of cancellation to them so I did that immediately. They said the review was to see if he could cancel his service without a cancellation fee....he is DECEASED....WHY would he have to pay an early cancellation fee?! That makes no sense. Well they continue to take January and February bills out of his checking account and when I called them about it they said it would continue to come out until the 90 day review was completed to see if he could cancel service without a cancellation fee. Even after they tell me it would no longer be deducted from his account. This is FRAUD....VERY UNPROFESSIONAL...AND JUST DOWN RIGHT CRAZY!!! He is no longer living and therefore does not need this service but they continue to drag it out just to get money!!!! Would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!! Watch out for them. read more

Just got off the phone with this Alder trying to cancel my service after 5 years! I was originally under contract for 3 years. Unaware that in my contract somewhere it states that if I don't call 30 days before the end of my contract date and have them send a letter to me and me sign it and return it. I would be automatically given another 12 month contract. Not knowing this when I called on Aug 3, only to be told that my contract was up in June finishing my 5th year mind you. Because I didn't call (which I knew nothing about and so shady on there end) I was told I was under contract for another year. I was only told during the original contact, that it was 3 years and nothing about a re-up loop hole by the company. So be careful with this company and I will give this company as much bad publicity as I can, through social media and word of mouth. I may be stuck paying them for another 10 months but rest assure Alder the amount of bad press I am going to generate because of it, I will get my 500 dollars worth for the next 10 months. So check your contracts cause you are only given a small window to be able to cancel with them. They do not work with you nor do they care. They have a D+ rating by better business bureau and not accredited and I can see one of the reason why. Any company that rely on loop holes to keep your business, is business you can't trust and I will never use this company again. When I told them to make a note and cancel my service now for May, i was told they couldn't do that, I had to call in May, ha. I will not forget Alder, cause I will spreading bad publicity every day until May. Since you feel the need to do me wrong and not be clear on your contracts and bind me to something that I don't remember or think I was told or shown. We are very unhappy with Alder and can't get satisfaction. The system was installed in late April and we were charged $100 activation fee. However, a week later, the representative came back and asked for another $100 because he said the price went up and he didn't know this when we were charged. I paid him because he said it would come out of his own pocket if I didn't but that in return, I could have an additional feature - camera for porch - installed. He also promised two more glass breaks which the technicians hadn't installed in the beginning because it wasn't in their notes. Apparently there was some confusion according to the representative but that they would be back to install the glass breaks. And we were supposed to get the newer wall monitor which was coming in a couple of weeks. The representative said the technicians would be back in late May to do all this. Now we're nearing the end of August and nothing has happened. I called Alder and they said they have no record of this from their representative and that I should call him directly. I did, several times, leaving messages and now three weeks later, I still have been unable to talk to him. My daughter-in-law was able to reach him and he acknowledged getting the messages and said he would contact me. That hasn't happened. I again called Alder to tell them I want to terminate because I'm not getting any satisfaction. I asked if the representative was still working for them and they said yes. They said I have two options, I can find someone to take over my contract or I can pay the termination fee which is 90% of what I have left on my contract. It's a five year contract and we've only had it for 4 months. I'm not asking a friend or relative to take over the contract because I'm so unhappy with them myself. When I signed on, I asked the representative about the contract and he said not to worry. He said there were ways to get out of it. He said he could get another client to take it over. Of course the company disputes this. We have also had technical problems with door sensors falling off and the alarm going off in the middle of the night because a sensor fell off. I regret the day I signed a five-year contract with Alder Protection Alarm Company (AP) ! The alarm contacts on windows and doors regularly loose contact, leading to regular false alarms. My local police regularly come to my home to check on the false alarms. I have had the police department call me to verify if there is something I can do about the false alarms! I have contacted AP several times about false alarms for the past several years; however, they have not been able to find the problem. What irritates me the most is that this company is from out of State, Utah, to be precise and it takes one month to get a technician to fix any problem. You would think that they could afford to pay a technician in California to fix their alarm system problems.....but evidently not. I am so annoyed with this company and want to get out of the contract; however, their customer service indicated that I cannot be released from the contract for another 1.5 years, unless I purchase my contract at a cost of 90% of the existing contract ($50 p/mo @ 18 months = $900 and 90% of the contract is $810). I can purchase a great alarm system at Home Depot for less than $810! Currently, upon setting my alarm, I must disengage at least two contacts throughout the home....how much sense does this make--set the alarm and disengage front and bedroom door. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND AP! I am riding it out and looking for a new alarm company---I'm also looking for a way out of my contract....Any Ideas! read more

I don't rate this company 1 star, but 0 is not an option. My husband and I switched to this company 2 and half years ago after a nice came around and talked to us. BIGGEST mistake ever! The nice salesman has been MIA since he installed the system. We had a 5 year contract and were told that our new home owners could buy out the remaining part of our contract. She called and scheduled an appointment, the technician never showed. She called again and the same thing happened. After the 2nd time, I called and spoke to someone. They were going to call her and get it setup. They did so and told her that she couldn't buy out our contract, she had to start a new 5 year contract of her own. This is not what we were originally told. After being mislead and stood up twice, she has decided to go with ATT. after calling to try and find a solution I get an account manager named John who gets on the phone and immediately tells me there was never a missed appointment and I will just have to pay my contract. I have spent hours on the phone and a few of the reps were nice enough, but the customer service is deplorable when you really need something worked out. read more
