Six months later. I bought a new piece of furniture from the same people who sold me my bed. The bed, I had been told was tricky to put together. I got the directions from the furniture store and gave them to the movers. They were so arrogant and offended by me telling them the bed needed to be put together a certain way. "We've been doing this (this many) years"... the mover even made a comment about how the furniture store didn't know what they were talking about. Well, they put my bed together wrong. The headboard was on the wrong end. I had to pay the furniture store to assemble it the correct way. In that process they discovered, the threading is damaged now. This is a $4500 bed frame and I was very nervous about moving it. I would absolutely not recommend this company. They don't care about your furniture. Hiring Alder was based on a recommendation from a friend and local business owner. This was to be our 5th or 6th move (more than half of our earlier moves were cross country. Our preliminary conversations with Alder went well, and gave us the confidence to request an estimate. Following receipt of that estimate, and Alder's ability to explain aspects of the expected move, we decided to go with them for our move from Mendocino County south to the S. F. Bay area--a one-way trip of, perhaps, 150 miles and included 2 additional stops along the way. A date was set. The Alder crew showed up on time. While we did most of the packing, the crew proceeded to identify the 6 (or 8) items they were scheduled to pack for us, and get all of our belongings safely loaded onto their truck and moved to our new home. We started the Saturday move at about 7am and finished the move--including the 2 intermediate stops--as planned at about 5 or 6pm. The crew from Alder was outstanding. And the estimate they gave us turned out to be right on the money. No surprises. We're hoping not to move again but if we do, We'll call Alder first. read more

This week we used their services to help us move our furniture so carpet work could be done in the home we moved into. It never matters the size of job-they respond right away, they actually talked with us to work through logistics and they were on time at a very fair price. We've come to trust them as our moving experts in this part of California. Their guys are helpful as we are retirees who are new in the area. I have moved with professional movers 4 times. Alder Movers is the worst experience I have ever had. Jason never sent an estimator to the house, never asked if there were things to pack, and estimated my local move at $1,300. Then a contract was emailed to me for $1,700 + or -. I signed the contract and the crew arrived at my door at the appointed time. They were not aware it was partially a pack job. They dumped the content of all my desk drawers into a big box, used my bed pillows as padding in moving boxes, didn't label many of the boxes, damaged the leg of my dining table, with the truck about half full they moved me the 6 blocks to my new home. I tipped them mid move thinking that might be an incentive to do a better job. I might as well have flushed that money down the toilet. The second crew arrived the following morning and did a good job. The bill ended up being $3,350, which I paid. I would never recommend Alder Movers, and they have not heard the last from me. read more

I have moved at least 7 times in my life, and every move was insanely stressful until I found this company. Their customer service is incredible, always polite, had answers to any questions I had. ALL my belongings made it safely with ZERO breaks or damage (which is almost unheard of when moving). I highly recommend them, and their team of people! I erroneously hired moving helpers from Ukiah thinking I would save money (It was a nightmare) I called Alder moving and explained my situation they came to my rescue and were able to pick up my most precious but very heavy belongings that the other movers had abandoned the night before.
