What a fun date night or friend activity option in Montclair! I do not believe they do walk-ins, but you can reserve for 1 to 12 people when picking a time/date to stop by. Feel free to stop by a little early to give yourself plenty of time to smell allll the scents in their extensive collection. After your reservation begins, you get a little clipboard to go around and choose all the scents you enjoy as well as pick the product you plan to make (final cost differs based on your chosen product). You get seated at the scent bar with a little mixing plate, and various equipment based on the product you select. The alchemists were very helpful in showing you how different scents might smell together, and tips on what scents may overpower another or what pairs welll together. Be warned though, once you start pouring, there is no going back. I choose to include 4 lovely scents in my mist spray, but you can have just 1 scent or even more depending on your preference. After you are done being a little alchemist in training for the day, you bring your finished product to the cashier to wrap up in a lovely gift bag before you are on your way. Be warned, the candles take about 2 hours to cure enough to take home, so factor into account you will need to come back when selecting your product. They also have prepared products (mostly candles) available for purchase as well, if you don't have a reservation but want to stop by or want an extra something special to bring home.

Pros: - The staff was so nice and helpful They made the process of making our candles/sprays/diffusers soooo easy and not stressful since picking between like 40 different scents was a bit overwhelming. - The place smelled amazing- even the bathroom was clean and smelled good, which is saying something. - Process for making reservations was super simple and they called the day before we came which was a good reminder. Cons: - The only con I could say which isn't a big deal is that the pricing was a little weird to me. Some candles were like $60+, others were $30 and it didn't really correlate to me like bigger= more expensive. But all the containers were cute! Would 1000% come back again, so cute!!

A group of 5 of us visited the alchemy bar on a Friday night. The walls were filled with various wax scents and the specialists explained that putting down what we like and they would help us create our unique candle, room spray or mist. I decided to go for a dupe mist however. I got my husband the Tom Ford dupe which was a fraction of the price and smelled much better than the original. Cute place BYOB we had an awesome time!

Alchemy Scent Bar is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion! I've been to Alchemy for birthdays and family get togethers. Alchemy provides customers with a unique experience, which is to create your own candle. Upon entering, you will notice an alphabetized wall of scents. You pick up a clipboard and begin to narrow down the perfect scent for your candle. On the clipboard you write down your favorites as you mosey your way down each shelf. The scents are also seasonal. I've visited for fall and summer scents. You get the cool opportunity to choose a vessel for your candle. You can even make wax melts! After you complete your clipboard, a staff member will help narrow down your top 3 scents. Every staff member I've encountered has been quite accommodating. If you do create a candle, it usually takes 2-3 hours to set. You will most likely need to pick it up afterwards. The wax melts are ready within 20 minutes or so. I would recommend dining after this experience since there are so many great restaurants in the area. Then, you can come back to pick up your candle. If candles aren't your vibe, you can create a spray or hand sanitizer. The scent bar has gift sets for you to purchase or pre-made candles. While creating, you are welcome to enjoy your own drinks. This is BYOB. I highly recommend making a reservation online for the perfect experience. Your area will be reserved and you won't have to wait. This unique experience is definitely a favorite of mine and a reason I've visited more than once. Thank you Alchemy for creating a fun experience!

Visited Alchemy Scent Bar for date night with my boyfriend and we had such a great time! We scheduled a reservation online and walked over after getting a bite to eat nearby. I believe walk in's are okay as well, reservations are recommended. Alchemy is located next to an ice cream spot (Benvenuti Montclair), sandwich spot (Dutch's Sandwich Shop), diner (Raymonds) and so much more which makes Alchemy the perfect spot to hang out and enjoy good eats before and/or after your visit. The space is beautiful! I love the open concept and it's upkept very well. When we walked in, we were greeted by the staff and seated at our designated candle making area. You can create your own candle, reed diffuser, room spray and more! My bf and I opted for a candle and the container choices are great! Each container is priced differently as you'll see on the shelf. Once you choose a container, it's time to choose a scent. The selection is HUGE! They told us to narrow it down to a couple scents that we love which was 90% of them, haha. After choosing our top scents, we made our way back to our station and the staff brought over each fragrance oil to see how we like certain scents together. I went for agave, anjou pear and lychee. My bf went for bonsai, palo santo and bordeaux. Once we mixed in our fragrance oils and poured them into our candle container, it was time to give the candle a name. I chose "self love" and you can decorate the sticker to stick under your candle. If you make a reservation early enough in the day, you can pick up your candle before their close or you can visit when they are open again. The candle needs time to cure/harden before taking it home. Highly suggest Alchemy Scent Bar for a girls night, date night, family day, etc.

Great spot for a date night!!!! Will be honest and say I wasn't expecting to have as much fun as I did! The date was for my fiancé and it turned out to be a surprise for both of us. Definitely an experience you should try! The staff was friendly and extremely patient. We had the pleasure of working with Bella and Fran. With help of our two main people, along with the other staff made our experience Amazing!!!!!!

Came on a Sunday in a group of 8 ladies and had a wonderful time. Service was really good from the start. The ladies were very knowledgeable about their scents and how some scents mesh better than others with each other. I absolutely love the two products I made. I made a candle for $48 and a mist for $28. It's a bit pricey, but the experience and pride of knowing you created this, is well worth it! The ambiance of this place is beautiful with black and white and gold accent. Very upscale looking. Service was super friendly and patient. Great experience for a girls' day or night, date night, or even bonding time with your kids. Yes, they even have masculine scents, and they are wonderful. Tips.. it's byob, so that always adds to the fun. It's in the middle of Montclair, you know parking is scarce. But there is a parking garage right behind the building.

This place was AMAZING! Cute location. Went here with a group of girlfriends and had a great time creating our personal scents. They had so many to choose from. The price was a slight bit higher then expected but I get it. Its the experience. The girls that worked there were very accommodating to answering all the questions that we had...and we can be a tough group. I made the body spray which I constantly get compliments on. You can make body butter a candle and more. Its my own personal mixture of all the scents I picked out. The place was so cute and I just love the match book collection in the back by the bathroom and the huge mural on the wall. Only thing is if you make a candle it needs to sit overnight and you need to come back to pick it up the next day. I live to far so I couldn't make the candle. Goooo! Have Fun!

Had a really great time here. Beautiful place with beautiful black and gold detailing. The interior of the place is dreamy. There is a ton of scents to pick from and beautiful vases to select. Some of my favorite scents from my visit: ocean air, pride and church street The experience from start to finish was wonderful. Staff was extremely helpful in creating a personalized scent. You get to create a label too. Takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the candle to cure. Loved it!

Everything about this place is wonderful! The service was fabulous-- I swear the workers were blessed with a special nose ! The aesthetic of the spot is 100/100. It's a great spot for a date night or to have a girls night. The scent selection is endless and the price is outstanding. Oh and did I mention it's BYOB? I can't wait to go back!

This activity is so calming and enjoyable that I'm here once a month for a new candle or lotion ! I would recommend making a reservation just to know your seat is secured. First you pick which candle, lotion, mist, etc. then you smell all of the scents that are a appealing to you. Next you get to mix all of the scents you've chosen with the help of the works. Who are all so helpful ! The candles take about 2 hours to set so I usually get something to eat while that time passes. I would a recommend trying this place out ! Always a good experience !
