Especially when it comes to returns or asking team members about checking stock on items/help finding items. Then there's the issue of nothing ever being in stock. I'm not talking about discontinued items either, I'm talking about basic, staple items: milk, pasta noodles, frozen items. I went in with a list of 10 items only for 3 items to be out of stock, on a weekday. That's pretty bad. Does Trader Joe's really expect people to be able to come ink the same store multiple times in one week just to buy basics? This is starting to become a place that's not worthwhile to visit, as it's not very functional.

I had some time to kill before having brunch with my brother, so my son & I browsed the supermarket to see if there's any goods that are interesting or a good deal. The market is well-stocked & organized, but the floors are dingy & screams for a deep clean. Yikes! Though the items on the shelves look like there's been turnaround since they're not dusty. Whew! =) Its offerings are similar to the local Asian markets, with a little less variety at slightly higher prices. The fresh fruits were absurdly pricey IMO, but there were a few "sales" though they're still higher than regular pricing elsewhere. Since we're over an hour from home, I only picked up some snacks like roasted peanuts (I love the Farmer Brand!), fermented hawthorn, & some biscuits. The cashiers were friendly... asked if I found everything I needed, & also greeted my son & asked if hawthorn is his favorite treat. While I didn't have any 好運氣 (good fortune) in finding any deals, I get some yummy treats for my 6 YO to nosh on while waiting for my brother. I prefer the Main St. location in Alhambra, but they've been temporarily closed since 09/2024; I usually shop there when I'm in the area because of the eateries nearby. I don't think I'll be making any return trips unless I'm dining next door.

But their overall stock is full here and there's staff walking around restocking and even watching you while you walk through. There's definitely a good variety of ingredients and brands I didn't really recognize, so they carry a lot of things. The prices on many items here were like conveinence store prices, but maybe it's like that for the the city and area. So lots of selection, but absolutely not much of a vibe here - just shop and that's it. They do play Cantonese and Mandarin songs on the speaker system, so that's kind of cool. What should've been a quick pickup turned into a much longer ordeal than if I'd just shopped in-store from scratch. To make it worse, no one apologized, and the staff handling it were flat-out rude. If online ordering doesn't actually save time or work reliably, there's no point offering it. Won't be ordering ahead here again.

I had bought an electric casserole pot from the LA location, but ended up not needing it. I tried returning it here a few days later, but the item scanned came up with the wrong price. The staff told me that the item needed to be taken back to the original location because they cannot take the return. That didn't sound right to me so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager actually told me the same thing. I explained how wrong this was and the manager finally said to hold on for a minute so that he can call the other store and try to work out a solution. I'm the end, they made a correction in their system to manually enter the corrected price and yield the correct total refund. It took a while but I was happy 8 didn't have to make a trip out to the other store.
