Most of the cashiers here are rude and it is obvious that they hate their jobs. This store has the longest lines and highest prices. I have been overcharged once again. I use the just for you coupons and they are not coded into the computers. It shows up on my online shopping list at one price but I am charged a different price. I had a question about it and asked the cashier and she said she did not know what I was talking about. For me I will be shopping at Barons or in El Cajon. I love this store! It's always clean and neat and they have a great selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats. The deli and fresh seafood areas are awesome as well. I'm a sucker for their express meal at the deli: your choice of chicken, potato wedges/slaw/or mac salad, and your choice of salad for $4.49. I often buy their fruit, meat/cheese, and muffin/donut trays for potlucks at work and they are always tasty. The staff is always friendly and I'm always being offered assistance throughout the store. They also offer to help you carry your bags to your car. The in-store pharmacy is convenient since you can kill two birds with one stone. I run in all the time for gift cards since they have a good variety. FYI, you can't purchase gift cards at the self-check out. In order for them to be activated, you must go to a register. In addition, they have red boxes outside :) read more

Unfortunately, the only full service market in Alpine. The prices are really high, the market doesn't offer bags (although I am a bit conflicted here since I like the idea from an environmental standpoint - but let's be real, it saves the market money, which doesn't get passed on to the customer), personnel are either really good, or just plain unpleasant, and the seafood section is a joke. As with a lot of the businesses in Alpine, locals are taken advantage of since there are limited options. read more

It's a very nice grocery store and the bread and produce is usually fresh. The thing that I do not like about this grocery store is that they are way overpriced. Since it is the only grocery store in alpine I guess it has no competition. I will definetly make my way to vons instead next time I will get double the groceries for the same price there.oh another thing is that they do not offer plastic bags. You either have to take your own bags or take the brown paper bags without the handle that are so inconvenient for carrying anywhere. read more

ugh. I don't shop here anymore for a couple of reasons. The first being that the guys in the butcher shop cannot identify fish. Sent my husband in for tuna, he came back with a wrapper that said tuna and fish that was SWORDFISH!! Not even the same color. When I called the store they seemed to think it was no big deal. The second being RUDE customer service. I like to pay in cash for everything. As I was checking out the cashier told me the amount and I set a hundred dollar bill on the counter. (yes I will never do that again) She than flipped up the counter and the bill went under. When I told her what happened she looked at me like I was lying. The check out girl finally came around and figured out where the money went. The cashier offered no apology at all. I will drive the extra few miles to Vons. read more

Terrible customer service. There are a handful of employees who are awesome but the rest are seriously awful. They have been advertising about delivery for a few months and when I asked in store the cashier told me that the managers do the deliveries. Like a month later I decide to try it and the website says I have to order from vons. I call to ask albertsons and the woman on the phone very rudely told me "they don't deliver to you" I asked her how that was possible if I live so close to the albertsons. To which she said, "This store doesn't deliver." So then I asked her how that was possible if they have been handing out fliers about just that for the last two months. I told her that I even asked a cashier about it who had said the managers were delivering. Then she started to rudely laugh on the phone and told me she wanted to know who it was and that she wanted to see proof of purchase so she could find the cashier name. I told her I didn't know but she continues to laugh and be rude as if I was dumb for thinking they delivered. Maybe they should let thier employees know what the fliers really mean and keep a professional and kind demeanor on the phone befitting of a customer service representative. I would like to say that was the only bad instance but its not. My husband made it in the store five minutes before closing to pick up a last minute item and the cashier told him sternly when he walked in that the store closed in five minutes and if he wasn't at the checkstand before the five minutes were over that she couldn't ring him up because the checkstand automatically shuts down at the exact closing time forcing him to run through the store. Shame on you albertsons all your employees should be kind to the customers that keep thier stores open not just a random handful. I will no longer shop there. I will be at Barons where I never encounter an eyeroll for asking a question or get laughed at for any reason or lied to about the cash registers shutting off. read more

Albertson's is now becoming a hard to find store ever since that overpriced Haggen took over majority of their stores. It doesn't mean that Albertson's cashier's have to be crabby bitches...if you don't like your job then find another one. The customer service at the checkout sucks!! I was asking questions about the $25 pass for the fair & all I got was a dirty look and yeah we sell them...seriously! I will go back to the Lakeside Albertson's even though it's a little smaller than this store at least there employees like there jobs! read more

The long lines are getting worse than ever. 3's a crowd is a joke. They have those signs all over but will only have 2 lines open. I won't even go in there on the weekend. They know they are busy on weekends, so why can't they schedule more cashier's to work? I like this Albertsons because they have a good selection of organic food and grass fed beef. But sometimes the lines are so long, I just give up and leave my basket and walk out. read more

Just wanted to write and say that there are many great employees here at Albertsons but there are a few that just makes this place a rough place to shop at. Dawn in the deli dept is one of the ones who makes it rough. She is always going on and on about her mother and her health issues. She always has something negative to say about her fellow employees and about the fact that her mom has Alzheimer's. I have encountered it a few times where she is spending 20 minutes per customer just so she can complain and groan on about her personal issues. Just like last night I came in and ended up waiting 20-30 minutes because she came out to talk to the customer in front of me and played the sympathy card and had her customer feeling sorry for her. Also every time I get helped by her, her breath smells horrendously like alcohol. read more

I'm not one to rate grocery stores. I mean it's a chain market, right? There's a million throughout San Diego. And I'm not partial to Albertson's. In fact, I usually shop at Von's since they are slightly cheaper. But this Albertson's in particular warranted a review with high marks. This Albertson's is probably one of the nicest grocery chains I've ever been to with regards to stock, cleanliness and customer service (give or a take a few bad apples). They have an entire aisle dedicated to organic and healthy eating, something the city of Alpine needs. They even have a special section for gluten free needs, a rare find at most grocery stores. But what pushes the five star rating is the store manager, Bob Ring. Bob goes out of his way to delivery superior customer service. When my company had special catering needs, he personally delivered everything to our meeting hall and helped set everything up on multiple occasions. And when we needed donations for a charity event, Bob didn't hesitate to not only donate items, but had them arranged beautifully in a basket and hand-delivered them to my office. Does your grocery store manager do that? A+ for Albertson's in Alpine! read more

This albertsons has the worst pharmacy I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. When I call in they tell me my prescription is ready, but when I show up the staff rudely tell us that the prescription wouldn't be ready for a few hours to the next day. This has happened repeatedly over several months. It's affected my health so drastically that I'm going to a different pharmacy! If you have heart trouble don't even bother with this place you'll be dead in the ground before you can wrestle your medication from them! read more

Been going here for over 4 years now. Clean, organized and usually always enough staff. Unlike other stores they care about cleanliness, they don't let carts pile up in the parking lots, etc. We love shopping here. read more

treated me like a princess the cashier gave me a pumpkin for .88 cents because he didn't want me to have to wait for a price check. They gave me free reusable bags becuse I didn't bring enough. They helped me to my car and even carried an umbrella for me so I didn't get rained on, and pusshed the cart back so I didn't have too :) read more

Love my local albertsons, they have a GREAT craft beer selection and always excellent service, lots of the negative reviews come from the store not having plastic bags, if you could imagine the amount of plastic bags used by every albertsons everyday I'd think more people would be cool with it.. Most of the checkers and other staff are usually polite and helpful, but today I had the misfortune of dealing with a new checker named Chelsea. Rude, snippy and acted like I offended her by reminding her that an item I was purchasing had a discount sticker. I'll wait an hour in other lines rather than "bothering" Chelsea with my business. read more

Hi, I just want to thank Jesus and Julio at the Albertsons bakery for all their help today. They were amazing and saved a disaster. I have 4 sons, 1 has a bday in June which I made him a Sonic cake. But it fell over in our motor home on the way to his camping party. All my sons were sooo upset. Well, today is my bday and though I do not like sweets I wanted my sons to have cupcakes so they could "help" blow out my candles. I just so happened to be at Albertsons and was highly impressed with their selection. I couldn't believe non of the cakes or cupcakes were special ordered, they were all beautiful. I chose choc cupcakes with and alligator topping. Fitting for my 1, 2, 4 and 11 yr old. Well, my 1 yr old pulled it off the counter as soon as we got home. Face down. Again, my kids bday cake/cupcakes were going to be ruined. It was the last alligator cupcakes up there and was so neat looking I called and asked the bakers if they were willing to fix it. Jesus and Julio said bring it by and they would try. Less than 15 min later, I walked out with the same perfect cupcakes and feeling like wow, not everybody in this world is angry and jaded. Some people do still care and take pride in what they do. I just wanted you to know you have two spectacular men working in your bakery and you have a forever loyal customer, family of six supporting your business. Thanks again! My last time shopping at this store. I was told by the cashier that it was good I brought my own bag and now I need to learn to put the heavier items on the counter first so it is easier for her to bag. I had 6 items, 2 dozen eggs, sourdough bread, packaged shredded lettuce, 2 packages of salad in a bag. What was heavy????? Lines were 6 people long, someone was screaching over the intercom but you couldn't understand a word she said. You lost my business today. read more

This is my go to store whenever I'm in Alpine and need last minute food items. Prices tend to be a little high for what you get. I'm convinced they have the best beer selection from Alpine to El Centro. I really only come for the mix and match 6pack for $9.99, huge selection of International small batch micro beers included in the special. Can't miss. read more

I want to thank Bob, the store manager, for allowing me to put up my informative warning sign in their floral department about ALL lilies (orange, burgundy, whatever color) that even a cat licking the pollen is lethal. I purchased some fresh cut burgundy flowers I thought were something else, and unfortunately, after $1,500 in vet bills (so far and to be continued) my cat had 75% kidney failure from ingesting them. I even contacted an old friend to find out his cat died of lily ingestion within 2 days. Laws or not, USDA or not, I am very frustrated with the lack of labeling for consumer awareness AT the point of sale. And it was even his roomate that bought the lilies, so to blame the owner is a non-issue. Fresh cuts flowers are meant to be put out on display. And unfortunately, indoor cats are most susceptible to getting curious about them. We can play the blame game, but sorry I am not a botanist. We have warning labels to remind people not to stick q-tips in their ears. But who cares that the flowers you buy might have been the reason your cat died the next day. The Albertson's corporate office told me it was "just a pet", and that there was nothing they could do. If I could have strangeled someone through the phone, that would have been an optimal time. This is one of those things where consumers wallets need to dictate our values as a society. I still feel at a loss of how to get information to people like me who were unaware of these dangers and loving pets who are still in harms way. A simple sticker, is all they need. "Not pet friendly." Oh, but to their credit, on a totally separate potted lily, the back of the label (in tiny print) did say, "Not for Human Consumption." That proved to be really helpful for me and my cat. Hanna Bay Flowers (Bay City Flower Co, Inc.) only lists a P.O. Box. Their slogan "Bringing Beauty to Life" doesn't work for me anymore. Albertsons could have taken this oportunity to do something philanthropic. State laws or not, it's about caring for your customers and "doing the right thing." Our pets are family. Thanks to Bob, he actually understood that. He salvaged any respect I had for Albertsons. Am I worried it's not enough and people will just think Easter Lilies and Poinsettia's like I did in the past? Yes. I totally think Albertson's is missing an opportunity to do something good. All it is, is consumer awareness. They could earn a lot of respect and I feel this is a badly missed opportunity to do something right for the community instead of continuing to perpetuate their corporate reputation. read more

Wife and I went to San Diego yesterday. On our way back we stopped at Albertson's Store in Alpine, California to buy some "munchies" for the road back home. As we were paying, the cashier asked me if i wanted to buy a bag for my groceries or if i had brought my own. I asked for a regular plastic bag and she the cashier replied, "We don't provide those anymore." Another customer then replied, "plas...tic is bad for the environment." I then replied, "So is breathing, but we all have to do it." I then state, "Are we in Russian now?" What the hell. The cashier then replied, "would you like to buy something to drink?" I then replied, "No thank you comrade, I don't drink Vodka. Dasvidaniya (goodbye in Russian). My wife and I then proceeded to leave and observed the lady who told us that plastic was bad for the environment was getting into a large SUV. Talk about a hypocrite. Love the friendly faces and beautiful displays @ Albertsons Alpine. The specials are especially good deals and are more then competitive with the stores down the hill, and it is a pleasure to shop there. I only give it four stars instead of 5 because of stopping by last night after a late night at work, and finding the west door closed and blocked by displays from the inside. This was @ about 8:57 PM. I thought it odd that they were closing so relatively early, so I checked the internet and found out they stay open till 11:00 PM. If they only close the west door at this time it would be a good to put a sign on the door saying," Please Use The Other Door." Thinking the store was closed, I went home to Pine Valley without the things I needed because I was to tired to back track into town. But other then that it is a great place to shop! read more

When Albertsons first opened in Alpine...it was nice. Clean, friendly helpful staff. All gone. At least today. Not only do you have to bring your own bags...still a huge mistake in my opinion, but I just went in at 6pm and there was only one cashier. She was working the 15 or less isle as well as all of the self-bagging isles. A line almost to the other end of the isles and one cashier/bagger. I saw employees standing around all over the place doing nothing to try to help. I even saw to managers chit-chatting over by the RedBox station. It's not worth my time or money to go to a place that apparently doesn't care about service anymore. Daniels is consistent in service and pricing. Goodbye Albertsons. read more

It's an Albertson's. I don't know what people really expect. I hear a lot of negativity about the high prices, and Alpine being taken advantage of, but it's the same prices as any other Albertson's around the area, and very similar in pricing to other chains. Sandwiches there are awesome. Employees have always been super friendly. They now have paper bags available for free, so the whining about the plastic bags to save money issue should no longer be an issue. Bridgette answered and I asked if online was referring to ice cream filling and she said "she did not know & no one from the department was there" so I then asked for anyone available in neighboring departments who might have the answer and she said "no there's no one there until tomorrow morning" so o figured the next person to have the answer would be a manage, in which I asked for the manager and of course- she was the manager. If managers don't have an answer and can't find it out for you, imagine the training associates are receiving? read more

I am super glad Alpine has a major grocer. I wasn't too stoked on it being Albertson's as my experience with them in the past hasn't been great. This particular Albertson's is awesome! It's been a few years (I think) since they've been open and it's still clean and organized. I always see staff members on the floor available to help customers. I really like that they have self-checkout stations for those who only have a few items to purchase and don't want to wait in a long line. The check-out cashiers are friendly and speedy. The bakery staff is very nice and helpful. I like that they have alternatives to milk, such as almond milk. They also carry a nice amount of organic foods (though pricey). Normally their chicken looks good though lately it hasn't. I don't what happened there--not usual for them. The only thing I don't like about going there are the loiterers out front. They are bothersome and since the exits are a little small, they can really tackle you upon departure. read more

If you purchase pet food here, BEWARE; the shelves have plenty of the Jerky Treats from China that have been killing animals...I was in shock when I saw them; with all the publicity, there is NO WAY to not know about the vast number of pet deaths due to these treats...The same treats that a major pet chain recently announced they will be ELIMINATING from their shelves...This is gross irresponsibility and I can't begin to fathom that they are so lax with an item that causes DEATH...I just purchased cottage cheese that made me sick; prior to that it was orange juice past it's date; prior to that it was being overcharged for 6 out of about 15 items purchased; prior to that it was rude customer service; prior to that it was filled donuts which were so old and stale the "filling" had completely soaked into the donut; and prior to that it was another rude employee...looking forward to seeing the impact that a new store opening here in town will have on them; this store is local, and they will get ALL of my business as soon as the doors open... read more

I am sorely disappointed in the QUALITY of products offered here. I have had milk go sour BEFORE THE EXPIRATION DATE at least 3 or 4 times - to their credit,they always replace it for me when I take it back - but that's a real PITA......Today, I bought chicken, pork and hamburger. The beef was in the clearance bin and had a coupon for $$ off so I knew it was close to the sell-by date...oops, it was one day PAST the date! When I got home, I opened the chicken...it was gummy and smelled bad....yup, also one day past the sell-by date (but it was NOT marked as 'clearance'), I'll take it back tomorrow. And the pork roast (which did have a current date) was so fatty that I will have to talk to the manager about it too....a 3.5lb roast yielded 2.5lbs of usable meat...and I was not that picky in trimming off the fat. ... ,Alpine deserves better than this! read more
