There are a few select employees that are awesome. I wish I could remember their names so they know this doesn't apply to them. The manager is rude and chews her employees out in front of customers, which is very unprofessional in my opinion. We have to check our receipt every time we go there because items marked for sale ring up full price at the register. We've had this issue a bunch of times, and instead of honoring the discount/sale, they just take the items back as a return. I have even ran in to (awesome) former employees at other establishments and asked them how come I haven't seen them at Albertsons recently. They usually say, in more words, that they couldn't take the managers' shit anymore. The pharmacy is the worst I have ever experienced. They are always out of medicines and it's like 4 days till they restock. When you're super sick, you can't wait 4 days. They never check their voicemails. When my Drs office calls in an Rx in the morning and leaves a voicemail, and I go in to get it at 5pm and it's not ready, that's not okay. Then they will always tell me it will be 15-20 mins until they can fill it. They fill it pretty quick, but don't tell you when it's ready (even if you're standing right in front of them). You have to flag someone down and ask if it's ready, even if there are no other customers. I always thought that was really weird. It's happened to me a least 5 times. CVS has been great since we made the change. This place sucks big time. I feel that a new manager and new pharmacy manager would literally solve all their problems. read more

The current manager Casey was no help. I was not upset until speaking to her. Which proves my point! Management should not escalate a situation, they should have been trained to have people skills to diffuse a situation. Sometimes just your tone and what you do make all the difference. Thank gosh one of the younger assistants walked me over to the deli where I had a minor issue, and was sooooo nice and genuine. She should be the manager!! The majority of the staff is extremely rude. The pharmacy has a lady who thinks she is the gate keeper of prescriptions, for some reason my insurance never works when she runs it, but it always works at CVS....weird. I have noticed that if they know you at the store, meaning you have lived in Alpine since the town was established, you are treated correctly. However if your new or just stopping by you get the bitch face treatment. The lines, the lines are horrible. Cashiers just chit chatting away with customers while the line just gets longer and longer. If you have coupons, o my, expect the cashiers to inspect them and be confused on how to process them. Wait lines are the worst. You can tell that the manager doesnt even care about customer service. She's looks completely unhappy and will see lines with 5 to 6 people and not even care. I live about 45 min away so it's not like I can just go back and get more or return it. These pieces were about the size of a cornish hen. I should have been charged half price. This is a newer Albertsons located on the east side of alpine. It's one of the nicer grocery stores in east county in my opinion. Big parking lot, friendly staff, good selection of meat at butcher counter, good sandwiches at deli. Self check out lines for added convenience. My only comment is that I wish they'd move all the beverages back to the front of the store, ie energy drinks, vitamins waters, etc. Sometimes I go in just for that and have to walk to the back store, would just be a little quicker. I come to this Albertsons quite often because it is on my way home so it's convenient. The store appears clean and well stocked. I have only had a problem finding basil. Seems like I can never find any fresh basil (without buying the whole plant) and no one to help. When it's time to check out there is always a line on every register yet the store doesn't appear to be full. After coming here for quite some time I finally figured out why there is always lines at the checkout. The cashiers seem to know many of the customers that come here because Alpine is a small community so they are talking to the customers a lot longer than they should so the line doesn't move as fast as it should. To sum it up, the store is clean and well stocked but the service could be better. read more

I have to admit that although Albertsons is never going to be my favorite grocery store, this location has definitely upped their game since Barons moved into town. While they STILL don't have any grass-fed beef, nor much of anything organic outside of the produce department, they have added some great stuff to their deli case, like the eye of round roast beef, which is perfect for sandwiches. The chicken wing bar they've added is also fun, since you can mix and match them. And their produce is quite respectable, so we often buy portobello or baby bella mushrooms here. I still feel like they are more obsessed with doing gimmicky stuff like the current Monopoly game, trying to get you to come back and buy, buy, buy, instead of just offering good value for the money, but I guess that's what this chain is all about. We do buy several frozen foods here, and they carry the brand of butter we like (which comes from grass-fed cows, which makes their lack of grass-fed beef all the more perplexing...), so points for that. The seafood counter, however, always reeks and needs to be cleaned up. It'd be nice if grocery stores would just eliminate this section altogether, since they never seem to be able to keep anything fresh, and I'm pretty sure everyone who really enjoys seafood in San Diego is going to go straight to the source down by the water's edge, y'know? All in all, I'm liking some of the improvements I've seen from this store, but I still spend the majority of my grocery dollars at Barons. read more

I was passing through town and she wanted coffee (the Starbucks across the lot) and a bit of fruit. I went to Albertson's while she got her caffeine. The fruit selection was very clean, very well set up and full. I wanted to wash the grapes before leaving and I requested help from the man stocking in produce. He told me where the restrooms were, and sent me one door farther to use the employee break room sink. I call that above and beyond and am complimenting that behavior now! Overall a nice-end-of-typical grocery store. Clean and well organized, stocked and we'll presented (Especially for an Albertson's, as I have historically never been a fan of how their stores are laid out). Kudos and thumbs up to their floral, produce and deli departments. However I must note that the Meat/Seafood dept here is in need of more attentive/competent management. I observed several critical violations here; most noteworthy the mold - laced crab legs, and the long-dead, completely unsafe shellfish. Shellfish such as mussels and oysters MUST be sold live or frozen. These were neither, however they were marked as "live". Shellfish in this state is unacceptable for sale or service to consumers and poses a very real health risk. I would not shop seafood here nor recommend that anyone does at this time. read more

I go here as I live in alpine and it's really the only grocery store up here. Usually everything is fine normal grocery store whatever. This girl chelsei the cashier was so rude. My kids asked for a sticker and she rolled her eyes and said "in a minute" then when she started ringing up my items I put the bags there for her and she just looked very annoyed and irritated. No one likes working at a grocery store but I feel like she could have been a little bit more pleasant. Very rude I won't be going in her line ever again. read more

We recently moved up here to alpine and love the small town feel. Albertsons confirmed this for us. I recently purchased a book of stamps but the cashier forgot to give them to me. I thought they were out in my bag. I got home and realized she didn't give them to me. I called in and talk to I believe her name was Alicia. She apologized and said if I came back I could call when I got there and someone would run them out to me. This was very convienient seeing as I am pregnant and have a 4 year old. I pulled up, called and someone ran out my book of stamps. The book of stamps were attached to a sorry note along with a bag of fresh cookies on the house for the inconvience. Haven't been here for awhile due to past experiences with food and service but decided to go back for a quick dinner and pick up a 25$ prime rib roast. The meat wasn't tender, It was tough and fatty. As always when I get to the cashier they never say hi or they are talking to another cashier. I have over heard them many times complain in different departments and I'm convinced they hate their jobs. Today we were at the store between 1:45 and 2:00pm in the dairy aisle. I have never seen the stock so low on a Friday. Almost every kind of yogurt was under stocked. The gentleman next to me asked the. Young man standing there to go and find a specific yogurt for him. I asked if the area had been stocked last night and he said "only fresh vegetables. This was his area and he had to do it alone". We shop there weekly and I was very dissatisfied today Who is in charge? We were at the Albertsons store in Alpine today @ around 11 am. Every line had more than three people in it. So what 's the 3's a crowd mean? If you advertise a 3 day sale, you should have plenty of the sale items available for purchase. I want to comment on Albertsons in Alpine. During the weekend this grocery store makes some of the best BBQ ribs and their TRI Tip sandwiches are mouth watering. The price for these items are so cheap compared to the meat you get with these meals. A Homerun!!!! read more

Albertsons is a truly fine store, but they need to scrutinize their private vendors more closely. I drove to the store around 9:30 this Friday morning to take advantage of their "Sushi Friday" sale, only to find that the vendor had not yet arrived. No big deal, I thought, except that the sushi containing raw tuna was left out from the previous day! Sushi containing raw tuna can be TOXIC if not freshly prepared. The management should contract with another private vendor willing to show up on time and prepare the sushi on site the same day as advertised. read more

Asked the butcher to slice some eye of round for me... As I do whenever I go to any other Albertsons grocery store. Young kid behind the counter looks at me like I'm crazy. I ask him to ask his boss if he could cut it for me, his boss comes out and says "If I cut meat I have to charge for steak price." After politely telling him the eye of round costs more per pound than cheap steaks, and agreeing to pay this cheaper price; he says "I don't get paid enough to cut meat to order." read more

I love this store! It's always clean and neat and they have a great selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats. The deli and fresh seafood areas are awesome as well. I'm a sucker for their express meal at the deli: your choice of chicken, potato wedges/slaw/or mac salad, and your choice of salad for $4.49. I often buy their fruit, meat/cheese, and muffin/donut trays for potlucks at work and they are always tasty. The staff is always friendly and I'm always being offered assistance throughout the store. They also offer to help you carry your bags to your car. The in-store pharmacy is convenient since you can kill two birds with one stone. I run in all the time for gift cards since they have a good variety. FYI, you can't purchase gift cards at the self-check out. In order for them to be activated, you must go to a register. In addition, they have red boxes outside :) read more

Unfortunately, the only full service market in Alpine. The prices are really high, the market doesn't offer bags (although I am a bit conflicted here since I like the idea from an environmental standpoint - but let's be real, it saves the market money, which doesn't get passed on to the customer), personnel are either really good, or just plain unpleasant, and the seafood section is a joke. As with a lot of the businesses in Alpine, locals are taken advantage of since there are limited options. read more

It's a very nice grocery store and the bread and produce is usually fresh. The thing that I do not like about this grocery store is that they are way overpriced. Since it is the only grocery store in alpine I guess it has no competition. I will definetly make my way to vons instead next time I will get double the groceries for the same price there.oh another thing is that they do not offer plastic bags. You either have to take your own bags or take the brown paper bags without the handle that are so inconvenient for carrying anywhere. read more
