I grew up in Big Spring. If you did too, you lived and breathed Alberto's food. When I go home, I have to fit in at least one trip to Alberto's. Don't give me that La Posada or Carlos stuff.. this is where it's at. It's probably the worst thing you can put in to your body but really, who cares - because it's that delicious. I recently moved to Boston, MA where no one knows how to prepare a meal that tastes good. I went home over Thanksgiving and we found ourselves at Alberto's. I almost cried because the meal was so good. I'm sitting back in Boston right now almost crying because I know there's nothing around here to compare. *sigh* At least I'll be home around Christmas and you can bet I'll find some way to get a "Mexican Dinner" with maybe an extra taco. The music is 80's pop, tha ft s fine except I could feel it the waitperson looked @.me like I had two heads when I asked for a lime with my beer. Alot of good and blah can be said about Alberto's. It's good is they deliver food to your door, they are pretty decent with speed of delivery and are pretty friendly. The bad is their food is seriously overpriced for the quality. I've been to several Mexican food places but as far as food that you can make better at home, this is where they fall in. Don't get me wrong I appreciate that they work hard at it but alot of times I can describe the food as bland and Luke warm. Overall I don't get food there unless I'm truly craving it. read more

Coming from san Antonio and with my Mexican aunt, we strolled in unsure if it was legit. Pleasantly surprised by the food. A little pricey from what we can find in san Antonio, but reasonable. Delicious beef taco, beef fajita, and house special. The carne quisada was so tender it ripped apart with the back of the fork. Fabulous service. Very sweet people read more

I would give this place a negative 5 stars if I could. If you are looking for decent food I would recommend McDonald's over this. I get sick just thinking about my experience at this place. If you want to loose some weight definitely eat here because you WILL be sick to your stomach after eating here. I ordered there house sampler platter thing which is basically a little bit everything they have to offer and nothing was good. If you do not take warning to this post you may become another victim. This is our favorite mexican food place ever. We eat here at least once a week. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful. For those of you who don't like Mexican Food they have awesome hamburgers and chicken fried steak. The homemade fries are to die for and they now have fountain drinks. Stopped by on our way to Dallas. As other reviews stated, waitress was not very friendly and the service was slow in the beginning considering how small the place is. My husband ordered tacos and raved about them because they were like the ones his mom makes. I had chicken fajitas which didn't have much flavor but get points for the caramelized onions. The guacamole was ok but over seasoned. I'd say it's an average Mexican restaurant that was good but not great. read more

As a over the road truck driver, who refuses to eat in truck stops. I find myself walking to eat at local restaurants. Alberto's is a little over a mile from the T/A truck stop. I would walk five times this distance through any Texas dust storm for Alberto's. It seems more times than not most Mexican restaurants are about the same, this place has broken the mold into a million pieces. I grew up in Big Spring and Alberto's E. 2nd St. location was always my favorite place to eat and I go there at least once every time I'm visiting. I always eat the same thing, the House Special. Since the E. 2nd St location closed I've gone to the one on Gregg St. The last 3 times I've been there, the food was not nearly as good at the Gregg St. location. The guacamole chalupa is excellent and taco is just ok, but the green beef enchilada tastes like the sauce is made from cream of chicken soup, nothing green about it. The chili relleno used to be fried in a very thin fried batter, now the batter is nonexistent. Please go back to the original recipes. read more

Pretty good. Had The plate with enchilada, tamale and taco. All were good. Liked the chili sauce over the tamale. Very fast. Very friendly. Several families there. Would have given 4 stars but the salsa was weak. No flavor. No kick. Chips were good though. read more

The hot sauce and chips were yummy. The place was clean, the food came quickly and the food tasted good. Our server wasn't the friendliest but she probably wished she was home on this thanksgiving weekend (we ate there on Saturday). We enjoyed the food. Glad they used Anaheim chilies!! read more

Save yourself the trouble and go pick up a frozen Mexican food t.v. dinner at HEB. Took forever to get the waitress to come from behind the cash register and giggling with another waitress to take our order. Water remained unfilled until we were about to leave and speaking of water, if you don't mind being charged 50 cents for water to avoid paying over two bucks for a glass of tea, come here. I'll skip this place from now on and go across the street to Carlos Mexican food. read more

Are you kidding me with this garbage? The beef fajitas were tough, greasy, and apparently made out of prison grade "fajita meat" (beef? road kill?). Our server (name redacted, but those of you who have been there know EXACTLY who I'm talking about) had severe B.O. It was SO disgusting. When we were served, every main dish on the table was in a pool of orange grease. So nasty. The decorations are incredibly tacky and low-class, which is fine I guess because literally everyone there was wearing Walmart clothes and blue jeans. That "creepy roadside dive" sort of atmosphere with cheap, greasy food isn't my idea of a good time. There are so many nicer Mexican restaurants with good food and nice atmosphere in Big Spring - Carlos; Papa Chan's, Spanish Inn come to mind (never tried Casa Blanca...yet). Thumbs down, way down. No wonder the downtown location shut down. Yuck! read more

Very good authentic Mexican food in a super friendly and clean environment. The chili rellenos were some of the best I've ever had, they are stuffed with hamburger and lightly covered with an amazing sauce and a little cheese. My husband had the taco plate, three tacos with homemade taco shells stuffed with hamburger served with beans and rice. Fast service. Highly recommend. read more

The Chicken Fried Steak was better than I expected but the French fries were more blanched than fried. On the mexican food side One thing I noticed on the menu is that if you want anything extra such as hot sauce there was ana extra charge. There is also a $1 to go fee, which isn't bad but the prices already seem just a little high. I will go there again but just not as often as I might. read more
