This is the worst service provider I've ever worked with. I heat my home with wood and called them for a chimney sweep. The individual who showed up was very rude from the start. From asking where the fireplace was to asking for a check, every time he spoke, he sounded impatient and upset. It was downright strange. It was $389. This was on August 27th in preparation for cold weather. My first burn was October 28th, and smoke poured into the house. I suspended a bird's nest, so called them and asked if a sweep included bird's nests. He said it did. I also asked about a screen for my chimney cap. He said they would come back and take a look. When he returned, he was even more rude than before, asking me to hurry up and decide on what to do, complaining about how hard he'd worked that day, how late he'd get home, and talking about how I'm probably using my fireplace wrong. He said he'd clean it again and install a chimney cap screen for $1,200. I told him it sounded to me like he wasn't going to stand by his work, and I would look elsewhere, and he yelled at me and cursed his way out the door. I then hired another chimney sweep out of Goldsboro. He was extremely professional. He climbed up and pulled a mass of at least 6 Starling bird's nests all packed together out of the chimney. He said it looked like they had been squished together by Albemarle Chimney sweep previous attempt to clean the chimney. He also installed a chimney cap. He did all of that for just $400. I called Albemarle Chimney Sweep back and explained what was found. All I got was excuses, suggestion that the bird's nests were new (even though Starlings leave the nest long before the end of August). Still, the owner told me he'd refund me for the original sweep. After two months, I have tried calling and texting to follow-up about that refund, but he is ghosting me. I have since spoken with others who have used their services for chimney inspections as well and am pretty sure at this point that they also fraudulently inspect chimneys claiming they need to be cleaned so they can clean them even when they don't need it. Do not use these guys. I know there are not a lot of options in our area, but you are better off buying your own equipment and learning how to clean your chimney yourself. read more
