Wow - wow - wow! Had some of the best food I've ever had. I am not just saying that. Literally from walking into the door until we walked out, the entire experience was 5 stars. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The service was impeccable. I must say, it was an expensive dinner but worth it. The oysters were so beautiful and fresh. And when I say beautiful, I mean they really were; they were so clean. We also had the Calamari and octopus appetizers and OH MY GOD. Soooooo good. Lastly we had the Gnocchi and a lemon dessert. Amazing. Time after time Alba always hits it out of the park. I'm originally from Quincy so i have been to that Alba many many times. Never been disappointed. Alba 53 is an amazing addition to the south shore. There aren't any restaurants on its level IMO. If you are looking for a great date night spot or for a super fun ladies night, Alba is your spot ! We had a really wonderful time at Alba on 53. Our server Irina was truly so lovely. The restaurant is huge and bustling with a cool atmosphere and high ceilings so noise has a place to travel. Cocktails were great with nice pour. And our meal was delicious. The Mac and cheese side was some of the best we have had- it is not the typical Mac and cheese style which we loved. Light and flavorful cheese sauce that was not heavy or thick. Ribeye was cooked and seasoned properly and was a nice cut with good taste. The short rib gnocchi were awesome and definitely a comfort food vibe. Even the asparagus was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and it is definitely a show stopper. Chocolatey and fudgey and a great way to end our meal here. Highly recommend. read more

Lived in Quincy nearly all my life, but moved south a year ago. We immediately missed Alba and frequently drove "home" to be greeted by Leo and enjoy the great food. Announcing Alba 53 was great news to my family, and dining there tonight was the first of many new special occasions and memories. We started with the tuna tartar. Little different than Quincy and they added capers. Wasn't sure what to expect, was maybe a little saltier, but delicious! Then came a filet and ribeye. Chef had no issues substituting the potatoes. Steaks came out cooked to perfection. No knife required. Little evidence they were ever placed before us. Star of the show, as always, was the 2,000 layer chocolate cake. Perhaps I'm exaggerating, but it's massive...ly decadent. Kerri paced everything perfectly, was very attentive, and around the table just enough. Easy request next time we go in. A bit late- we went the Saturday before Valentine's Day . Got one of the last reservations for 4pm because it was the only time available. Had an old fashioned to drink and it was really good. Bread they serve with hummus was amazing. The wife and I both ordered salmon. Initial thought looking at the menu was that it's a tad pricey (I think $32) , but didn't really care since it's a nice restaurant and it was a special day. When we got the plates, we were both surprised how huge it was. Biggest piece of salmon I've ever been served. Cooked perfectly, served over roasted sweet potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Ate half and had the other half for lunch. No room for dessert. Service was also fantastic, I wish I remembered the server's name. A nice woman in her mid to late 30's. read more

Love the Quincy one and thought I'd try the new one in Hanover for my friend's 30th surprise birthday dinner. This is the best restaurant in the area. Made our second visit to Alba's on 53. This time my wife had the salmon which she said was delicious. I had the filet mignon which was the best one I have ever had, and I have been to a lot of steak houses. We asked to be seated in Lesia's section and she was her usual delightful self. We went there for my birthday celebration as it looked like there is something for everyone on the menu. I'm gf, when they put the complimentary hummas/bread down, my daughter asked if they would bring some vegetables as well which they did np. This place is huge and fills up, I def recommend having a reservation! I'm on the road a lot and eat out often. I'd say the food is pretty good, 4.6 to 4.7, everything was fresh and delicious including the sushi roll we ordered. The service was def 5.0 and we had a lot of fun people watching, just getting our minds around the size of the place (kind of had a Vegas feel or casino feel) and also there was live music on the other side of the restaurant at the bar which was fun too. Went here with my boyfriend i had gotten a reservation as we know they are busy. I always get the braised short rib gnocci when i go here. They dont do takeout unfortunately so i usually have to sit at the bar order a drink, take a few bites and take the rest home. I wanted to go out that night, so we went. He ordered the margarita pizza because how can you go wrong. I ordered oysters and the gnocci. The pizza was revolting . It was soo soggy and disgusting. It was simply a limp piece of cardboard you couldn't even hold. My boyfriend and I are by no means fancy we were already out of place here and even he would not eat that pizza, now thats saying something.... My oysters were great , i asked for no mushrooms in the gnocci and my server told me I cant do that its already made. I always get this meal without mushrooms, i told her to ask the kitchen because that didnt seem right. She came back apologizing. And when i got my meal there were no vegetables in it at all. There use to be squash and carrots and it was just bland. She said they dont make it like that anymore.. like what??! Anyway, i shut up and ate it . But she was MIA the rest of the dinner. We even had a buss boy come over and wrap my leftover meal up. We didnt touch the pizza and no comments were made about the pizza being untouched or tossed. I mean We said it was bad but hes just a buss boy said ok and threw it out. No communication there. After 10 min Still no server my card is out on the table im looking around asking people to find her. I finally grabbed our stuff and headed for the hostess stand to pay my bill. I honestly should have stiffed our waitress and probably the house. She was horrible. I think she thought we were leaving without paying bc she came trotting up printed the bill gave it to me and left. How flippin rude you dont even ask how it was or apologize. I gave her maybe 10% tip which i shouldnt have even done! I left vowing never to come back. I wish I couldda got my money back for that meal it still ticks me off. read more

First time ever going to a restaurant on Thanksgiving so I had high expectations. I frequent Alba on a monthly basis & have never been dissatisfied... until today. My daughter and I had 5pm reservations. Arrived 5 mins early to lots of parties waiting for tables. Seemed unorganized to say the least. We ended up waiting 20 mins. No biggie. Bar was wide open if I had wanted to order a drink & I should have. Once seated, we waited another 20 mins to order drinks. As the table next to us was very close, I could hear them complaining that they had asked for bread twice & had not received. Once we were served our drinks, we ordered our app & entrees, after being told they were out of the 3-course Thanksgiving dinner. We did ask for bread & received it quite quickly (as did the table next to us, finally). The best part of the meal was our appetizer, the Caesar salad. Crisp lettuce with shaved & grated Parmesan & homemade croutons. My daughter's Salmon dish was okay, she said. Maybe worth the $35. I ordered a $54 Filet, medium. It came out well-done, asparagus was undercooked & bland & mashed potatoes needed seasoning. I had high hopes for a yummy Thanksgiving meal and it was disappointing that at 530 they were out of the traditional turkey dinner. Hopefully, Alba will be better prepared next year or will stay closed for the holiday. read more

We finally tried the restaurant last night, had a reservation inside, was way too noisy, had to dine outside. The service was spotty at best, the server was catering to larger tables. We waited 15 mins for the server, another 10 for bread and water, requested silverware and napkins. Appetizer showed up had to request silverware and napkins again. One of the main courses was a salad with chicken, never got the chicken, the burger, disappointed, the roll was stale, not toasted, burger was very raw, cold, salty, fries were cold and salty. The server never came to see if we were ok, she was preoccupied with larger tables and chasing liquor. Another person came to clean the table, asked if the meals were ok, noticed the plates were full, told him we were unhappy, said he would send over the waitress, she came over to provide the bill, never offered another meal(s), dessert, or credit. Glad we checked out this place, was being considered for a large family party, no more. read more

Brought my family of 10 for my son's birthday last night. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. I had ordered the 10 oz filet which was excellent, cooked perfectly. When it first arrived, my son and I both agreed the fillet was small looking. Was no more than 5 or 6 ounces at Best. I should have said something right when it was served but everyone was eating and I didn't want to create an issue and disrupt the good time everyone was having. When we left after dinner, I walked by two tables where fillets had just been served. Both I saw were at least twice as big as the one I was served. Again, I should have said something when it was served, but also someone in the kitchen should also have noticed the size was wrong and never should have cooked it. The QC person, as a last resort should never have let it leave the kitchen. Having spent $1,000 last night for the family, I'm very disappointed someone in the kitchen let that expensive steak be served. Too many other restaurants to go where that wouldn't be allowed to happen. We won't be celebrating there again anytime soon. read more

A must-visit. Favorites are: Calamari, Bolognese, Grilled Swordfish, Rack of Lamb, Filet, Ribeye with a side of outstanding Pancetta Parmesan Brussel Sprouts of course. Overall rating 3 1/2 due to service but realize a lot of establishments are short on experienced staff. Very nice dining experience, seated on time for resy. First time here and the main dining room is huge, open and loud! Would return but would only request "wine room" in the back. This space lacks the fine dining atmosphere of the Quincy location. Appetizers great fresh maki roll, ok Caesar and chowder. Four steaks served and although nicely seasoned and well cooked, two diners very happy but filet was really tough and rib eye just not up to $55 ala carte standards. The bolognese and fish and chips got high marks. All of the sides were excellent, Mac and cheese, mashed, asparagus and fries. Ordered dessert to go, bread pudding, tiramisu and chocolate cake all very good. Will return for sure just not sure about the steak sadly. read more
