On March 23, 2022, I made my son an appointment for 8:30 AM. I made an appointment because he had…read morethe following symptoms: cough, and stuffy nose. When Dr. R. Kilian Schafer came into the room first thing, he had said was that my son is obese and I need to watch his weight, he gained 7 pounds since the last visit. He not only assumed, but confirmatively told me, my son is obese, and I had diabetes in my family. Which I DO NOT. He clearly made that assumption by racially profiling. As the visit continued, he checked my son's lungs, nose, ears, and throat. Then checked his motor motions. While doing the motor exam he then asked my son to see his private parts, which is NOT part of this routine checkup for his current symptoms. I immediately declined him doing so and asked him why he needs to exam his private area. He then said to see if the child has any type of puberty. He is 5 years old, so no puberty checks needed. He neglected to realize he was there for sickness not a physical exam. Dr. R Kilian at this point seemed to be agitated with me. As he approached my son for Covid swab, he asked me to hold his hand while he is laying on the table, head towards him. As I'm holding my son's right hand, Dr. R Kilian had his Right hand on my son left shoulder and Left hand with the Q-tip Swab, he went ahead forcefully stick the swab up my son's nose. My son yelled STOP it hurts with tears rushing out is left eye. At this point Dr. R Kilian had his right forearm forcefully on my son's chest, still having the swab up his nose. I quickly said STOP while my hands were on his forearm trying to move him away from my child. Dr. R Kilian didn't stop, after repeating and yelling to let my son go 5x. He didn't even take the swab out my son's nose. I had to physically shove him with my shoulder and move him away from my son! He quickly walked out the room heading towards Dr. Tulip, Dr. R Kilian told him he made a mistake and said he thought I was telling my son to stop and let go. At this point as I followed Dr. R Kilian, Dr. Tulip inform me that someone will be coming to talk to me in the room. I was furious and very upset over what had just encounter. Historically upset and shocked, a lady came in the room about 5 min later and asked me to calm down and voiced that this was all a misunderstanding. That Dr. R Kilian misunderstood me. At this point I knew there was no compromising or expressing how wrong this was. As I stopped her and asked her why he didn't stop after asking him 5x to let him go, why didn't he stop? As my voice was getting a little louder, she asked me to leave and that she will be calling the cops on me. I recorded them for my protection, them telling me this was a misunderstanding and I need to leave. I am in shock, my experience with this clinic is distraught. My disappointment towards the staff and how things were handled is why I am making this formal complaint. This was a terrifying situation I've been in, let alone my 5-year-old son. It was very uncomfortable to begin with and ended up traumatizing for my child at the end.

They have convenient, late night appointments and when you call, someone answers!!! It's not "press 1 to make an appointment" blah blah. They are different in that you as the parent need to be responsible for knowing when your child needs check ups. They don't call and remind you that your child needs a ___ year check up. Other than that, we're happy and my daughter will continue to be seen here.

We have been seeing Dr. Karaganis for a few months now and she is exactly what I was hoping to find…read morein a children's doctor. I visited with five other pediatric office's in Anchorage (so without naming names...every other large one in Anchorage) both before I was pregnant and once my daughter was born and at every one my daughter (and I as well) was treated like a number, not even a person let alone a patient. After visiting these larger offices (to see highly recommended doctors there) for a couple of visits I decided to try Polar Pediatrics at the recommendation of several women in my baby group. COMPLETELY different. With Dr. Karaganis my daughter always gets the kindest, most loving treatment and Dr. Karaganis really gives just as much focus to the parents. She answers all of our questions respectfully, is always kind to my daughter (even lets her sit in my lap while she takes her heartbeat- I was shamed by multiple doctors for wanting to hold my daughter while she was getting her shots and having a doctor be comfortable with my shyer baby was so heartwarming), and makes the overall experience of going to the doctor much more enjoyable then I ever thought it could be. The first time I called this office I spoke with the receptionist (the woman who answered the phone) for a good fifteen minutes about my daughter, my concerns about her health, and at the end wanted to know the name of the best medical receptionist I had ever spoken to (normally they don't bother to even get my or my daughter's name right) and discovered I had been talking to the doctor the entire time! I was blown away by this level of personal care- I told everyone and no one could believe that a doctor was answering her own phones and helping out a parent over the phone without any sort of pay/visit required. With Dr. Karaganis there is never confusion about who you talked to or what you owe- you only ever deal with her, financially- planning wise- everything. After our first visit, which was over a half hour, I knew we were going to stay with Dr. Karaganis- she clearly loves what she does and is dedicated to the care of children. I was prompted to write this review though because just this last week we had a scare with our daughter, without going into detail let's just say she was very sick stomach wise for a few days and I was very worried. I called Dr. Karaganis and got her voicemail (as she was with a patient and, as I said, does everything herself so there is never confusion). I left a voicemail saying that I was worried and would just like Dr. Karaganis to see her sometime soon if it wasn't too much trouble. Within an hour Dr. Karaganis had called me back three times (I couldn't answer the phone) and when I got a hold of her she told me that she was going to get me in the next afternoon- as soon as she possibly could. And that she had called so many times because she could tell over the voicemail that I really was worried and she didn't want me to be worried anymore. That is a level of care that I am unfamiliar with in the medical world- where not only the patient but the family of the patient are taken into such consideration. Dr. Monique Karaganis is a dedicated doctor and if you are looking for the stereotypical cold, distant Doctor who keeps their distance and talks down to their patient (out of some warped confusion over the difference between professionalism and elitism I'm sure) then Polar Pediatrics is not for you. If you are looking for a doctor for your child who is extremely knowledgeable, kind, professional, and (what I think is very rare) clearly cares greatly for your family and your child then I highly recommend Polar Pediatrics and Dr. Karaganis.

Pretty much gets told I'm trying to be a physician because we delay vaccine due to his prior health concerns and reactions. Including EXTREMELY high fevers multiple times a month for multiple months on end. That was not a pleasant thing to be told I'm trying to doctor my child all because of vaccines and that I wont be a good fit for the dr to see my son because of it.So yea I just hung up. Wasnt a pleasant experience. It's a shame that a doctor has to go out of her way to try and intimidate a possible future client/mother due to a medical team group decision that was made for the child. I definitely would not recommend bringing your child to see a doctor who has such bad skills with people.

We have had some appointments at the Providence Hospital location and we prefer Huffman by far. Every time we've come, we've been the only patients there. The place is large enough, quiet, and sterile. Check-in is quick and easy. We're always taken to a room right away. We've never had to wait long to see a doctor here. I always choose to see whichever doctor is available and we're always taken care of. It always feels like we are in and out, which is what I prefer. I require mask exemptions, various referrals, referral amendments, and referral updates for my son with non-verbal autism. I love that the doctors here just get it, and do whatever they can to assist me and get things faxed out ASAP. All staff encountered have been kind and professional. The only negative is the lack of toys or entertainment for the kids, as a covid precaution I assume. As mentioned previously, you are taken to a room immediately after checking-in, so its not a big deal, at least for my family.

I asked them to go look back at their till at the end of that day to see if they were over money, I asked them to see who was working receptionist desk that morning, look at cameras but no I got the same response everytime I spoke like he wasn't even listening to what I said because he knew I didn't have the receipt so automatically just assumed I didn't pay. They are very well-trained to identify even the smallest nuances in your child and address them at an early age so they don't progress to bigger issues down the road. I am SO happy that we found Karen as her PT experience and professionalism has been demonstrated over and over in the wonderful progress my daughter has made and continues to make. We can't thank Kids Are People Too enough- my daughter and I look forward to Karen's sessions as opposed to it being a struggle to get in her PT time . (Did I mention, they do HOME visits--immensely convenient!).

I booked an appointment and was told to arrive early to fill out paperwork. When I arrived the office was completely void of people, parking lot empty, and the door was locked. I found out that they were on lunch. Huge red flag right there, what kind of office doesn't stagger lunches so they are open for patients as much as possible? My office visit was terrible, when I explained symptoms my "doctor" wasn't even looking at me and paying attention. I had blood taken for some labs and its been well over a month with no results and no communication. I was told that I could interact with my doctor via the app they wanted me to download. I found out that was a lie....a random person from the staff acted as a middle man between me and my "doctor". I missed a follow up appointment that was booked an astronomical amount of time out with no notifications or reminders and am being charged $85 for a no show. I am going to fight that as hard as I possibly can. So I get stood up at their door, pay for bloodwork with no results, and then get charged for missing a follow up appointment that they reccommended after requesting a referral. I'm glad I missed that appointment because it would have been fruitless. Please take your medical needs to an establishment that cares about you, not how deep your pockets are.
