Beware of Dr. Jen. This dentist is careless and lacks the basic empathy required to be a good healthcare provider. I trusted her because the practice she works for has good reviews. She didn't even have the common decency to explain the effects of the treatment or alternative options. I was shown photos of what my child's teeth might look like, all of the "before" photos had noticeable decay which was much, much worse than my son's so I assumed the effects would be similar or better. The effects were FAR worse. She irreversibly turned my son's teeth black. The six other dentists I have spoken to have been appalled by this dentist's actions. I took both my kids to Dr. Darby's office after we moved to Anchorage, they were great. I couldn't find our new insurance card but they were able to work with our insurance company and get the info needed anyways. It was my daughter's first dental visit, she didn't like it much but he was great with her, she is only 1, and he was happy to see that she was being seen so early. He was great with my three year old and entertained him as well as explained to him what was going on and why it was being done so he wasn't as concerned. My son has a couple of issues with his teeth, but I don't feel like we are being 'taken' and need a second opinion to confirm anything and I feel like he listened to my concerns and spent quality time with us made our visit worthwhile. read more

Dr. Darby is hands down one of the best pediatric dentist in Alaska. He makes his young patients feel comfortable and welcome. His sense of humor and jokes are comedian level. He even had me laughing!!! I only wish I could see him for my dental work too!! read more

Dr Darby and his staff are great. I've been to a couple of other dentists in the Anchorage/ER area, and have continued to see Dr Darby. Very friendly staff. He is very personable with my boys and makes them feel at ease. He has done great work as well for their oral surgery. I'd recommend coming to his office vs a family dentistry. He works well with kids vs others that are used to working with adults and don't have the patience to make the kids feel at ease. read more

Our experience with this office has been amazing! All of the staff, Dr. Easte Warnick, and Dr. Darby are amazing with my daughter. The time, care and effort they put forth to make her comfortable and lessen the burden on us as parents is incredible. Education, billing, what to expect concerns were all addressed without being made to feel rushed. Dr. Easte Warnick went above and beyond from our first visit to the follow up after my daughter's procedure and it was an incredible blessing to know she cared. The follow up office care has been as wonderful as our initial visit. I truly can't thank them all enough with just words. The care is outstanding and the office manager was just as amazing as the doctors! My daughter refers to her work as her special jewelry and works extra hard to keep it sparkling!! read more

Both of our children (now 3 and 5) have been seen by Dr Darby and found it to be a very positive experience. Dr Darby and his staff ensure the children feel comfortable during their exams, and are very friendly and professional. I also appreciate the amount of time Dr Darby takes to explain any issues, concerns, best practices with the parents. He also takes the time to cover general household safety beyond best practices relating to pediatric dentistry. Additionally, he also stepped up as a sponsor for the Anchorage March for Babies of the March of Dimes. This commitment to his patients as well as his community is the reason I continue to refer his practice to family and friends. We would definitely continue to see Dr Darby and his staff if we weren't moving out of state. read more

I'll give Anchorage Pediatric Dentistry 2 stars instead of 1 only because Dr. Darby is a great dentist and my son loved him. Unfortunately, I received the worst customer service from their billing department. After changing addresses I had an issue receiving my forwarded mail, and didn't know I had a bill from APD in the amount of $25.00. I called to confirm my child's next dental appointment and was told that it had been cancelled, and my past due amount was sent to a collection agency. I was shocked because I had no idea I had a past due balance (which could have easily been taken care of at our next scheduled appointment if it hadn't been cancelled). I paid the collection agency (same day) in the amount of $187 for a $25 bill. When I spoke to the billing manager she was extremely rude/dismissive. She hinted to the fact that they had a lot of patients, and phone calls are not a customary requirement. My concern with the way I was treated stems from the fact that Dr. Darby spoke so much about his practice being like a family, and I thought they would treat his patients with the same courtesy. A phone call would have been great before being sent to collections for a $25 bill that would have been handled immediately. After I paid the collection amount, I called back to reschedule my child's appointment, and was told that all accounts that go to collections must be approved as new patients, and that I would get a call back. I never received that call! Shame on me for not being diligent with tracking mail. Shame on Anchorage Pediatric Dentistry for promoting a family atmosphere, but treating their patients (or maybe it was just us) like crap. Great dentist...horrible customer service! read more
