This Pediatric medical office is located on the 4th floor of Providence medical center. We're often at their Huffman location for convenience and because it is less busy. Our last few visits at this Providence hospital location, I've witnessed massive improvements in wait times. Our most recent visit, we finally got a doctor who has experience with autism. Dr. Hepler. I felt seen and heard by him. The appointment felt the most thorough of all the twelve years thus far, that I've had to advocate for the needs of my neurodivergent kid(s). Medical staff encountered were professional and welcoming. The clinic was mostly clean. read more

Never been happy here, always a long wait and nurses are always different even tho we request the same one. Flew out of state with my son and he got sick so I called to ask a question but the nurses can't answer any questions if the kid is not in Alaska, even tho it's my pediatrician. Had to wait a whole day to finally hear from a doc. Ridiculous, they don't care about kids. read more

The staff and admin team at LaTouche Pediatrics at Providence took the time to write notes of encouragement to my 9 year old grand daughter who was being bullied for a medical condition. We love LaTouche Pediatrics!!! My kids have been patients of Dr. Jeff Brand for almost 5 years and we having nothing but great things to say about him and the clinic. Although we moved out of a state a few months ago, I wanted to leave a review, in case someone out there is looking for further information and testimony. I'll just tell you right now, look no further, this is the place! They are always SO nice, helpful, and quick to book you an appointment. Keep in mind, Dr. Brand is very popular so he does usually have a pretty busy schedule, but he is worth it. Don't worry though, the other doctors in the clinic are also wonderful. Dr. Brand is VERY knowledgeable & isn't one of those doctors that freaks parents out over nothing. We have always trusted his judgement & appreciated his advice. He's just a very likable person! We're so sad we moved out of state and had to find a new pediatrician because we miss Dr. Brand and LaTouche Pediatrics. They're as good as it gets! You won't be disappointed. read more

My son has been a patient here since birth and Dr. Laura Jones has been his doctor through it all. We so appreciate everything she has done for him. The office staff is great also. Sometimes it may seem a little hectic in the office, but I've always kept in mind they deal with a lot of patients and they do the best they can. My son is now 19, and out of the state but I am so glad we chose them for his care. I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

Deceitful and money hungry practice! Took my daughter for a fever and they checked my daughter's ear but they said they couldn't see inside one of her ears so they tried to take out her earwax (unsuccessful). They didn't inform me that I would be charged $200 out of pocket and didn't consult with me first before doing the procedure. They didn't even take out the earwax and they still charged me. Called them about the charge and the person I talked to was rude and condescending. Told me to check their website for fees and charges and that I should have checked the fees before taking my daughter in. How could I know what procedures they will do that day beforehand?! They will do procedures without your consent and will give you hefty bill afterwards. I will NEVER take my child in any of the LaTouche locations again! They should be more caring towards their customer and patients but they only care about the $$. Shame on you LaTouche! read more

I have been taking my son to LaTouche for almost 3 years now and have never had a bad experience. I have on the other hand witnessed rude parents while sitting in the waiting room and the front desk staff have handled them with professionalism and respect (which is very hard when you are being attacked for things out of your control!) All of the staff I have ever come in contact with (nurses, front desk, providers, even the insurance processors) have all been very nice and professional. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a caring pediatricians office!! read more

Okay place to go as long as you never need to get medications refilled. They diagnosed my son with ADHD and put him on meds for it. When it came time to refill the script we called the doctors office and they said they would send it to the pharmacy. This never happened so we called back a few days later. They said it was an oversight on their side and they would get it right over. Still nothing. Called again the next morning and the same thing. It must have been an oversight and they would send it over to the pharmacy. Still nothing and now they are closed for the next two days. Meanwhile my son is going through withdraws not having the meds they prescribed to him. Class act place of not giving a sh** about their patients. We will be going somewhere else now. read more

well.... where do i begin? made an appointment a few weeks ago to make an appointment for my son's four month check up and shots. just moved back up here so i made sure to ask about the billing policy while i sort out insurance stuff. was told there was an optional payment plan while we waited for insurance. went in today and no one had any idea of what we were talking about and was told it needed to be paid in full. in hindsight we should have walked out after this because a doctor's office that gives out incorrect information in unacceptable even if it in financial rather than medical information. we were seen by dr mckinnon. during the routine questions about my pregnancy and his birth and medical history etc. she was extremely condescending while replying to my answers. she gave outdated information. and would reply to my bf after i would answer her questions. before moving up here i had seen a very well regarded specialist about my son's lip tie and she seemed very surprised about my lack of complacency and my insistence about being referred to a specialist for a second opinion after she told me his lip tie was nothing. never ever a good sign when a doctor gets upset when you want a second opinion. the absolute last straw was when she tried to hold my son and he started screaming at her touch and she made a very sly little remark about my son w an impatient tone while raising her eyebrows. told her we wouldn't do the vaccines there and that i would take my son to a pediatrician i trusted. hope this review was useful to parents doing research. won't ever bring my son here again. read more

NEVER GO HERE!! Office staff gossips about their patients and parents!! I called to make an appointment for my daughter to get the birth control implant and the girl who answered the phone obviously felt that my child was too young and shouldn't be on birthcontrol so she informed me rudely with attitude that they did NOT do birth control implants and when I asked where I could take my child she rudely informed me she didn't know. Clearly she felt "good" parents don't want to get their daughter's birth control implants because she then went and complained to the other counter people and claimed I was an upset parent and I was then called by the General Manager Chad that La Touche refuses to see my family again because the girl I spoke with claimed I was "rude". I was NOT rude, I simply asked where I could take my child. I have NEVER been treated like this and working for a Doctor myself, I have never treated a patient like this. It is not appropriate or professional for the receptionist to judge my parenting and make up stuff to get my children kicked out of the practice. Chad told me that the office staff were talking about me and then other people heard them talking and so then they went to the owners of the practice. So clearly the office staff judge their patients and then gossip about them. UNPROFESSIONAL. UNACCEPTABLE. HORRIBLE. I have talked to several other parents who have had bad experiences with La Touche and no longer take their children there. If you can't trust your child's doctor to be able to ask them questions because whoever answers the phone doesn't think that's appropriate for your child because they will turn your questions into office gossip then WHO can you TRUST? The Providence location has the WORST customer service of all La Touche locations. Obviously La Touche is desperate for business because they pay to advertise their practice multiple times a day on the radio stations. Now I know why!!! read more

Summary: Be prepared to answer questions about whether there are any guns in the home, and how your relationship is with your spouse. Also hope that any of their arbitrarily applied office policies don't bite you. Read on for further info about that: Very bad experience. We have 4 kids and live an hour and a half away, yet they insisted on only allowing us to schedule our kids one per day. This is a huge burden, especially for someone who actually has a job and can't take a half-day every day for a week. But, because of all the good reviews and an inability to find a closer doctor for our kids in rural Alaska where we live, we decided to just make the sacrifice and go. So I told my boss I would need five hours off at the beginning of the day for several days in a row, and scheduled the earliest appointments they had. On the first day, I got my son there. One of the first things they handed me was a paper that asked VERY intrusive questions, such as whether I had guns in my house, whether they were kept in a safe, how my relationship with my wife was, etc. Maybe I'm just an overly private individual, but these questions felt very invasive and made me very uncomfortable. Not because the answers are bad (my guns are in a safe and my relationship with my wife is excellent, thank you), but because it felt like they were giving me a rectal exam and looking for reasons why I shouldn't be allowed to keep my kids. Once we finally saw the doctor, it was great and consistent with all these 5 star reviews that you see. Despite that unpleasant experience from the day before, on day two we woke up and began the 1.3 hour journey from home to Eagle River. Getting 4 kids ready to go and out the door is not a fun experience, especially when they are ages 1, 3, 4, and 6. This time however, we ran into a big accident on Parks highway that brought traffic to "stop and go" for well over 30 minutes. As time kept ticking by, my wife called LaTouche Pediatrics from the car to tell them that we were stuck in traffic but were on our way. They told us that as long as we were within 15 minutes, it would be no problem. Not knowing when the traffic would start moving, we crossed our fingers and prayed. Finally we got there about 12 minutes after our originally scheduled appointment. There was a line at the check-in window, which, according to the clock on their wall, delayed us an additional three minutes. By the time I got through the line, we were exactly 15 minutes based on the clock on their wall. However that was apparently TOO late for them. The man working the window went to ask the provider if we could still be seen, and came back with the terrible news that no, we were not going to be seen now because we were late. I explained to him our situation with the very long drive and taking time off work, and he went back and explained to the provider the situation. When he returned it was with the bad news that no, we would not be seen. Nobody there seemed to care one bit about our situation. Our time investment to get there means NOTHING if it delays them by 15 minutes. After that, we decided we were never going back. We'd rather take our kids to "Joe's Crab Shack and Kid Doctor Place" than there. We were super blessed tho because one of our friends told us about Frontier Family Medicine in Wasilla. We went there and they were amazing. It's a lot closer to our house than Eagle River also. It's not in-network with our health insurance provider (which is why we went to LaTouche in the first place), but well worth paying the out-of-network costs to have somebody who genuinely cares about you and your kids as human beings. The problem with this world now is the total lack of empathy and understanding for other human beings. LaTouche could not have cared any less for us or our situation. I'd like to think that if we were bleeding out in their parking lot, they'd as least drive around us instead of running us over on their way to lunch (Ok that's way over-dramatic, but I'm fired up right now reliving this experience). Anyway, if you've read this far into the review, do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to take your kids. If you like the location, we've seen two family doctors at the Primary Care Associates clinic on the first floor of this same building and had a great experience. read more
