What a great experience! We came for the classic dog sled ride and drove out to the facilities on our own. Settled in and waited for everybody to arrived. There were wonderful fresh baked cookies and bars on the counter along with some coffee. After watching a quick video we came out to find Martin Buser himself ready and waiting to take the two of us out on the sled. He told us exactly what we needed for the conditions - all of the outerwear is provided but it was a sunny day so we didn't have to layer too much. He lead us outside and asked the dogs which wanted to go for a run. They all howled with excitement. These dogs certainly love to get out on the open trails and are always ready to go. Martin is happy to answer all of your questions and tell you more about his time on the Iditarod trail. We stopped several times to take pictures and a swap positions on the sled. Be warned that the dogs are very well fed and relieve themselves each time you stop. Once you get back you can take as long as you want. We went around and pet each and every dog. They are super friendly and each has their own personality. Keep your outwear on when you play with them as they like to jump on you, slobber on your and chew on your sleeves. Highly recommend this spot to anybody who's visiting the area.

The best experience ever!!! We came to Alaska just to cross dog sledding off my bucket list, and I'm so glad that we did. Everything was absolutely amazing. The guides were nice, welcoming and made sure to give us a lot of winter gear to keep us warm. Our guide shared some really cool facts with us, for example , dog sledding has a right of way over every other form of transportation in Alaska, they come even before pedestrians!! Also, seeing how happy and excited the dogs were to take us on a ride made everything even more exciting! These dogs LOVE what they do! A must do in Alaska!!

Exactly as expected! Such a wonderful time. Definitely worth the expense. One important note: Layer your clothes. It gets a little colder in the sled than you might expect if you've never done it before.

I cannot speak more highly of this place! This is for sure the best place to do dog sledding in Alaska. My husband and I were gifted this tour for a wedding gift. They have you watch a short video before and then provide you with all the outerwear that you need to stay warm. The dog sledding portion was amazing. We got to stop for several photo opportunities and to pet the pups. And at the end of the tour we were able to walk around and meet every single dog. We had so much fun! Please please take this tour! You will not regret it!

At first I thought this park wasn't even listed on Yelp. Which is insane, it's MASSIVE. Then I…read morerealized it was listed simply as "Russian Jack Springs", which makes it sound like a quaint Canadian hot springs in the mountains...(I've since submitted an edit, it should show up with "park" in the title now) It's not that. It is a shockingly great park. It's in an area of town where you wouldn't expect to find a park, and it's quite massive. It's got green houses you can tour, a hill for sledding, trails for hiking/running, and even a GOLF COURSE and CLUBHOUSE. Is it a bougie golf course and clubhouse? Of course not. But it's cheap and solid. Golf for the people! I got some BBQ from Smokehouse which is less than a mile away, ate in the park, then went for a short walk on the trails to burn off that brisket, and I was still back to work in time. Don't take Anchorage living for granted! I hope to come back in the winter to get on that sledding hill!

Is there an Alaskan Snow Snake? (see pic)…read more After the fresh snow, there are so many cool things to gander upon. And even though there is a fresh powder, the tracks are still visible and ready to be skied. I can only speak on the cross country ski trails here, but I've been super impressed with them. There is also a sledding hill, skate skiing area and a lodge style building that I've never seen open. I understand there are also community greenhouses on the property that you can check out. After three trips here and over two hours spent, I have yet to see the entire park. So much to explore, great for beginners, and well lit. For being so close to a major road, I'm amazed at how quiet and serene this place is. There's a private parking lot, off Lidia Selkregg Lane. I've never had a problem finding a spot. I think parking is free because I didn't see any fee stations.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear we were in the hands of true professionals. Our mushers, Jaren and Dane, were incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They didn't just guide us - they educated us, patiently answering every single one of my (many!) questions with enthusiasm and depth. You can tell they truly love sharing this world with others. What stood out just as much as the scenery was the care and devotion shown to the dogs. Every single Alaskan Husky is clearly loved, respected, and exceptionally well cared for. It's obvious the entire team is deeply invested in the health, happiness, and wellbeing of these amazing animals, which made the experience feel even more special and authentic. And then there's the ride itself - absolutely breathtaking. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the trail felt like something out of a dream. We glided through endless stretches of pristine white snow, surrounded by pines trees, with the crisp Alaskan air filling our lungs. At one point, we were even treated to a clear view of Denali in the distance. This wasn't just a tour, it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that completely exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Alaskan Husky Adventures to anyone looking for something truly extraordinary.

If you're a solo female traveler, you may want to read this…read more I booked this tour after a warm phone call with Liz and drove over an hour to get there on February 15, 2026. The dogs were great and the trail was scenic, but my interaction with owner Matthew Failor detracted from the experience. At check-in, the waiver asked for my full address. When I hesitated and asked why, his response was essentially that I needed to fill it out or I wouldn't be allowed to go out on the sled. Only afterward did he vaguely mention insurance. Being given that kind of ultimatum in front of other guests felt coercive rather than respectful. After the run, he asked if I had fun and stayed warm. I answered simply and briefly. He then commented that I was "a woman of very few words," which came across as dismissive. He then asked where I live, despite my earlier hesitation about sharing personal information. As a woman traveling alone who had already shown discomfort about privacy, that felt intrusive and tone-deaf. The actual sled run was also noticeably shorter than expected, which made the overall experience feel less worth the cost. Liz later called, listened to my concerns, and processed a refund, which I appreciated. I'm sharing this so other women traveling alone can make an informed decision. While the dogs and trail were enjoyable, my interaction with Matthew made the overall experience uncomfortable and not worth repeating.

We started with the UTV trail ride, which was an absolute blast. The course took us through water crossings and a variety of on and off trail terrain, making for an exciting and unforgettable ride. Then we experienced the sled dogs, which was equally amazing. We got to meet the dogs, learn about the sport, and see their enthusiasm and team work in action! The staff were outstanding from start to finish. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience fun, safe, and memorable for our whole family. In addition to two campgrounds cabins, there are countless lakes, ponds, streams and creeks, trails, parking lots and toilets. There's even canoe rentals. In winter theres some limited trail grooming as well. Fishing is popular in some of the lakes- see the state website for deets. Berry picking is excellent you're willing to explore as well. Bears are a real concern here so be prepared, we've seen them. Amazing bird watching as well. My only negative comment is the smaller campground by Nancy Lake proper is garbage- it needs a total overhaul. Head toward the campground by Rollly Lake deep in forest for the goods- you won't be disappointed.

If the ratings are good definitely a nice spot to view the aurora. We rented a dry cabin for an overnight trip, and we're upset we didn't book for 2 nights. We were in cabin #4 as a party of 4 adults, 1 toddler & a lab with plenty of space. This cabin could easily accommodate 6 adults comfortable, but there was bunk space for 8. There are quite a few state owned dry cabins in this area. A few of them are even newer constructions, and very nice. We thought we were going to have to snowshoe into the cabin, but to our surprise the trails were groomed for cross country skiing so it was a very easy walk to cabin #4. The only downside of renting this cabin is this area is pretty busy with skiers and snowmobilers (snowmachiners) accessing the lake. We took a few mile walk around the lake. We considered ice fishing, but didn't due to lack of daylight. We saw a few people out fishing, but Nancy lake isn't exactly known to be a fishing location. We had a very nice time staying at the dry cabins, and I think they're a really fun activity to get out in the winter time!
