AMAZING! A once in a lifetime experience. This was so much fun. Before you start, you get to meet all the dogs, which is so cute. Each sled carries 4 people (2 sitting, 2 standing) and the driver. We were on the sled for at least an hour and got to go through beautiful snowy trails. You can stop a couple of times for photos and switching seats. Our tour guide, Travis, was great and very informative. Overall, this is so fun and I'd highly recommend!

This dog sled ride exceeded my expectations in every way! The views, the dogs and guides were some of the best I've had in Alaska. Matthew and Liz are wonderful to work with from scheduling a reservation, the sledding itself, to the hot chocolate and stories post-ride. Matthew was our guide that day and he's an incredible host and dog trainer. You can tell he loves what he does and loves his dogs even more. The AHA dog team is the most loving and friendly pups you'll ever meet, especially for working dogs. Our group loved every minute spent on the sleds and playing with the dogs and we will definitely be back with other friends and family! Come check out this actively racing Iditarod team and follow them through the dog sled racing season

We had an amazing time checking out the life of an Alaskan Husky and learning about dog sled racing. The summer dog sled ride was a highlight for my kiddos and I loved snuggling the Alaskan Husky pups. Thanks for a great trip!

So much fun -- it was incredibly cool to meet dogs who have actually done the Iditarod, and they were SO CUTE. They even had a new litter of puppies. The dogs were so impressive pulling the summer sled cart, and so friendly and happy. Just an all around joyful experience!

Amazing experience. So much fun and informative. Guides were great and provided an exciting adventure. The dogs were super friendly and you could easily tell they loved to go sledding. Highly recommend and would do the experience again. Thank you!

I went here over the holidays and boy let me tell you. It was worth every cent I spent. Service was great from the owners to the staff to the dogs lol. Also I got a chance to pet the puppies in training. Owners were lovely when I met them. The trip there was hard due to the icey roads. But I'm sure the locals are used to it. Full experience we took breaks to take pics and bask in the scenery. We came back to hot chocolate tea and souvenir shopping. If you ever get a chance to go. Go! It's worth it!!!!

In Alaska for a hockey tournament. Went today. What a fantastic time we had. The facility was great. The people who work there are great. The experience was awesome. Highly recommend them. We went for the last ride at 5:30 pm as the sun was setting and it was truly a beautiful hour to do this. Be sure to bring gloves. They will let you borrow a set and a parka which I highly recommend. Definitely recommend them.

This is our family during the ride.

During our Christmas vacation with extended family, we went on our husky adventure with Alaskan Husky Adventures. This was our second trip with them and we were exposing our youngest grandchildren to a sled dog ride. Lots of time was given to us, explaining the dogs, their training, and being on an Iditarod Ride. We even were given extra time with dogs in the house! You will not regret using this company ever!

WORTH EVERY PENNY! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I wish we could have done this aaalll daaay! I can't remember our guide's name (that's what I get for waiting 8 months to post my review!) but he was super friendly, knowledgeable, and awesome! We went in April 2023. Being tourists, we didn't know what to expect weather-wise and were worried about getting too cold on our adventure, so we showed up in full snow suit gear, but we would've totally stayed warm in a couple layers. Like jeans, winter coat, and winter boots would've worked just fine. We got the chance to stand up on one of the carts and "steer" (you have to lean) and I was worried I would crash lol but it was really easy and fun (plus you're not in full control of the sled as your guide is still leading in front). We got to say hi to all the dogs before hitting the trails which was awesome and super cute :) This was my favorite part of our trip to Alaska! Thank you guys for the wonderful & memorable experience!

My wife and I had a great time! We scheduled a stop here on our way to Denali. Matt and Liz are an amazing couple who run this great business. The dogs were amazing and so full of energy. Matt has ran in multiple Iditarod Races and Liz is a talented reporter. We also met Jared, who was hired to help with their large family of dogs. Their property is amazing and the trails offer a lot of great training opportunities for the dogs. The dogs are great with people and kids. Don't be surprised when the place erupts with excitement as the staff begins to hook the dogs up to sleds! Enjoy this little gem of Willow, AK.

This was the highlight of my Xmas Alaskan vacation, I have always wanted to ride in a dog sled and it did not disappoint. It was not too fast which I was nervous about, it was so fun and my 8 year old and 11year old had the best time ever they said. The dogs all have their kennels outside but don't worry they have double thick fur which keeps them warm and toasty, when they get a break during the sled ride they munch and roll around in the snow. The ride itself is about an hour, you go for 6 miles through beautiful snowy scenery on their private property. My kids thought it was hilarious that the dogs could poop and pee whilst running. After the sled ride you go into a room and can have hot cocoa or apple cider, and my favorite part they bring one of the dogs in and you can pet and cuddle them! I highly recommend this company. They all love the dogs and they are well treated and very friendly.

I took my parents there to get the dog sledding experience! They did not disappoint!! They were so kind and personable! My parents loved it and we will definitely go back. It was a beautiful drive to get there and even a more beautiful tour route.

He used to teach history and science, and he was a treasure trove of knowledge. We went around all our activities and accommodations in a comfortable executive coach which provided endless drinks and thoughtful touches like snacks, bug spray, hand sanitizer, toilet covers! The hotels were suitable and the B&B near Palmer had the best views - as did the Lakeview Inn. The one thing I would recommend is advising us to eat locally and telling us exactly what time to make dinner reservations in advance (where / what time). It was impossible to get a cab in Seward.... We loved all the activities we picked - ATV, glaciers 4 ways (airplane, hiking on it, boating to it, ocean cruise), cultural tours, kayaking, fishing, gold panning, Denali hiking, train etc - it was endless animal sightings, whale watching and learning galore! I would highly recommend for any curious travelers who don't like just taking pictures of pretty places. We are looking forward to our last day of salmon fishing! Please book with these kind folks.

We started in Anchorage,…read moretraveled around and up to Denali then back to Anchorage where we jumped on the Dome Train to Seward. It was a whirlwind trip filled with A LOT of information, sight seeing, adventures, activities, tours and sitting in the van. Our driver/guide, Cullen was Great! One of the first things he told us right after he gave us his cell number was ... "You are going to do more in 10 days than most locals do in 20 years." He was not joking. We really crammed a lot into a short amount of time. Every day was a long day with most days not eating dinner until 8 or 9pm. There were 6 travelers plus Cullen. Our group was small and we were able to change and alter some plans easily (if we wanted and could.) In some cases, we weren't able to change things just because of timing. Thankfully, AAU / Cullen made reseravtions at all the eating places so we didn't really have to wait but a couple minutes when we stopped to eat. Every where seemed to be short staffed ( like everywhere else in the US ) and slammed with guests. So, having these reservations taken care of ahead of time was much appreciated so that we didn't really have to wait once we showed up. At one place, Cullen called our orders ahead and they were ready when we showed up! That really helped cut down on waiting / eating time so we could jump on the road quicker. Cullen even stopped at a roadside Jerky truck for us to pick up snacks! The one thing we (me and the group) were not aware of is that Cullen was not going with us for our time in Seward. When he dropped us off at the Embassy Suites on our last day with him, we felt a little lost and uncertain how things would go. This is mostly because Cullen literally took care of all arrangements and kept us 'on track' so we were in the right place at the right time. He also gave us great advice for a number of locations and activities. For the Denali Eielson Bus ride, he was adamant that we be the first ones in line and to sit in the front. He was not wrong! We got the best views of everything including the young grizzly 'chasing' the caribou down the road. (Actually.... the griz was running from the 3 busses and a caribou just happened onto the same trail/road as the griz so it looked like the griz was chasing the caribou when in fact both were running from the 3 busses.) If you get Cullen, ask him about his Moose encounter. This guy has 9 lives and I think he's used 8 of them already in his super adventurous life. If we could change or add one thing, it would be to have a little more time in Denali to relax and take in the area. It was Go-Go-Go all the time - jumping from one thing to the next and getting in really late in the evening that we didn't have time to enjoy a short hike in Denali (like the Savage River) or a campfire by the lake which would have been nice. Overall, we really enjoyed all the activities, sites and options that AAU included in their itinerary. I'm still downloading and sorting through pictures. Once I get them organized, I'll find a few to add to my review.

During our visit to the Talkeetna area there were wildfires burning, we were unable to make it to the meeting area but Fred and his helper Rich came to the hotel and picked us up so we wouldn't miss out on the fun. He first took us to a secluded spot by a river where the salmon were literally swimming between our feet. We could have reached down and scooped them up, but we were there to learn how to fly fish, so learn we did! Fred was extremely patient with me and my husband....and our limited fishing abilities! He came supplied with everything you could need or want during the tour. The waders fit perfectly, and kept us warm in the glacier water. While driving to our second fishing spot he supplied yummy croissant sandwiches to snack on during the ride. The second fishing spot had just as many salmon and we were able to catch quite a few fish. I had a beautiful trout on my line but unfortunately I didn't snag him and he got off the hook. I was bummed, but Fred is so encouraging before I knew it I had a huge salmon on the line and brought it in successfully. While we enjoyed fishing Rich cooked up some salmon by the shore along with vodka tonic and rum and cokes. We took a break to enjoy a perfect meal of deliciously cooked salmon and a nice cocktail. The biggest reason why I much, much, more admired Matanuska Glacier is that I was able to hike onto the glacier and get up close and intimate moments among wonderful surroundings. Meanwhile, here at Knik Glacier, you're just transported just to the edge of the Knik River where the Knik Icefield is set in the backdrop. So...I wasn't fully able to capture this Knik Glacier in all its glory in comparison to Matanuska Glacier. I will say...when I zoomed in on my phone to take photos of the Knik Glacier Icefield area...the pics came out very well. But...when I wanted to put myself into the camera's lens...the moments weren't so fulfilling, and especially since I was coming off such a high at Matanuska Glacier. I'd say, ultimately, Knik Glacier had a lot to live up to from what I had experienced just a few short days ago. Still, no problem, I very much liked my time here. I enjoyed the 3-hour tour I took. Only thing, upon now reflecting... Knik Glacier was very good...just not epically great. And the reason I compare Matanuska Glacier to this Knik Glacier is because they're located so close to each other...within miles of each other in the Palmer/Sutton-Alpine area of Southern Alaska. Let me relay the details about my 3-hour daytrip I took with Knik Glacier Tours... (btw, I believe there are helicopter tours offered where you land on Knik Glacier, but I was okay with navigating without the luxury flight option.) - It was $125 plus tax for the tour = $132. I also tipped $10 each to 2 of the tour guides at the end. - For the 3 hour tour, it broke down like this... * The first 35 minutes are navigated along on the back of an old army jeep vehicle. You'll pass over a bumpy road and through a few rivers. * From the end of the land portion of the tour...you then hop on a waterskiing boat where you'll be transported for about 20 minutes to the edge or "toe" of Knik Glacier. * Then you're afforded 1 full hour to explore along the edge of the land at your own accord, capturing pictures and venturing around...looking out upon Knik's many icebergs and the large icefield in the distance. * While on this 1-hour walk around (at your own pace)...the tour sets up a little picnic/tent area where they offer free hot chocolate and small snack items. For myself, I was so enamored with trying to snap the best and most efficient photos of Knik Glacier, I barely spent any time over at the tent area. * After the 1-hour walk along the river's edge...we then hopped back onto the waterskiing boat where the tour guide drove us straight up to some of the massive icebergs where we were afforded up-close perspectives of nature's natural wonders. We used about 15 minutes guiding through the glacial icebergs before being transported back towards the jeep land excursion and then finally to home base. - I visited and did this Knik Glacier Tour today, July 12th, 2002...and although it was pleasant outside wearing pants and long sleeves, the jeep driver recommended that I bring along a jacket because he mentioned how chilly it got out on the Knik River boat ride. And he was correct. The cold air rushing at me while heading towards the glacier was quite cold. The jacket certainly came in handy! - Although I'll post a photo of my confirmation email about the trip and where the tour begins...tours depart from this address... * 26326 E Buckshot Drive Palmer, AK 99645 - There were 7 people on my 10am tour including myself. This was a nice, personal experience. Not many people with me at all. At the Knik River's edge...we were all able to spread out and go our own ways. Overall, I appreciated my time exploring Knik Glacier. But...if you gave me the choice of doing only 1 glacial tour in this area situated about 50 - 100 miles east of Anchorage...I'd definitely choose Matanuska Glacier over this Knik Glacier. For those folks who have the time to check out both tours...then I found them each worthwhile and good in their own elements, sights and landscapes. And it's because of these glaciers and being immersed among incredible settings that I find Alaska to be one of the prettiest states in the USA.
