AMAZING! A once in a lifetime experience. This was so much fun. Before you start, you get to meet all the dogs, which is so cute. Each sled carries 4 people (2 sitting, 2 standing) and the driver. We were on the sled for at least an hour and got to go through beautiful snowy trails. You can stop a couple of times for photos and switching seats. Our tour guide, Travis, was great and very informative. Overall, this is so fun and I'd highly recommend!

This dog sled ride exceeded my expectations in every way! The views, the dogs and guides were some of the best I've had in Alaska. Matthew and Liz are wonderful to work with from scheduling a reservation, the sledding itself, to the hot chocolate and stories post-ride. Matthew was our guide that day and he's an incredible host and dog trainer. You can tell he loves what he does and loves his dogs even more. The AHA dog team is the most loving and friendly pups you'll ever meet, especially for working dogs. Our group loved every minute spent on the sleds and playing with the dogs and we will definitely be back with other friends and family! Come check out this actively racing Iditarod team and follow them through the dog sled racing season

I went here over the holidays and boy let me tell you. It was worth every cent I spent. Service was great from the owners to the staff to the dogs lol. Also I got a chance to pet the puppies in training. Owners were lovely when I met them. The trip there was hard due to the icey roads. But I'm sure the locals are used to it. Full experience we took breaks to take pics and bask in the scenery. We came back to hot chocolate tea and souvenir shopping. If you ever get a chance to go. Go! It's worth it!!!!

In Alaska for a hockey tournament. Went today. What a fantastic time we had. The facility was great. The people who work there are great. The experience was awesome. Highly recommend them. We went for the last ride at 5:30 pm as the sun was setting and it was truly a beautiful hour to do this. Be sure to bring gloves. They will let you borrow a set and a parka which I highly recommend. Definitely recommend them.

During our Christmas vacation with extended family, we went on our husky adventure with Alaskan Husky Adventures. This was our second trip with them and we were exposing our youngest grandchildren to a sled dog ride. Lots of time was given to us, explaining the dogs, their training, and being on an Iditarod Ride. We even were given extra time with dogs in the house! You will not regret using this company ever!

WORTH EVERY PENNY! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I wish we could have done this aaalll daaay! I can't remember our guide's name (that's what I get for waiting 8 months to post my review!) but he was super friendly, knowledgeable, and awesome! We went in April 2023. Being tourists, we didn't know what to expect weather-wise and were worried about getting too cold on our adventure, so we showed up in full snow suit gear, but we would've totally stayed warm in a couple layers. Like jeans, winter coat, and winter boots would've worked just fine. We got the chance to stand up on one of the carts and "steer" (you have to lean) and I was worried I would crash lol but it was really easy and fun (plus you're not in full control of the sled as your guide is still leading in front). We got to say hi to all the dogs before hitting the trails which was awesome and super cute :) This was my favorite part of our trip to Alaska! Thank you guys for the wonderful & memorable experience!

My wife and I had a great time! We scheduled a stop here on our way to Denali. Matt and Liz are an amazing couple who run this great business. The dogs were amazing and so full of energy. Matt has ran in multiple Iditarod Races and Liz is a talented reporter. We also met Jared, who was hired to help with their large family of dogs. Their property is amazing and the trails offer a lot of great training opportunities for the dogs. The dogs are great with people and kids. Don't be surprised when the place erupts with excitement as the staff begins to hook the dogs up to sleds! Enjoy this little gem of Willow, AK.

This was the highlight of my Xmas Alaskan vacation, I have always wanted to ride in a dog sled and it did not disappoint. It was not too fast which I was nervous about, it was so fun and my 8 year old and 11year old had the best time ever they said. The dogs all have their kennels outside but don't worry they have double thick fur which keeps them warm and toasty, when they get a break during the sled ride they munch and roll around in the snow. The ride itself is about an hour, you go for 6 miles through beautiful snowy scenery on their private property. My kids thought it was hilarious that the dogs could poop and pee whilst running. After the sled ride you go into a room and can have hot cocoa or apple cider, and my favorite part they bring one of the dogs in and you can pet and cuddle them! I highly recommend this company. They all love the dogs and they are well treated and very friendly.

My dog sledding experience with Alaskan Husky Adventures was without a doubt, one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. From the moment we arrived, it was clear we were in the hands of true professionals. Our mushers, Jaren and Dane, were incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They didn't just guide us - they educated us, patiently answering every single one of my (many!) questions with enthusiasm and depth. You can tell they truly love sharing this world with others. What stood out just as much as the scenery was the care and devotion shown to the dogs. Every single Alaskan Husky is clearly loved, respected, and exceptionally well cared for. It's obvious the entire team is deeply invested in the health, happiness, and wellbeing of these amazing animals, which made the experience feel even more special and authentic. And then there's the ride itself - absolutely breathtaking. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the trail felt like something out of a dream. We glided through endless stretches of pristine white snow, surrounded by pines trees, with the crisp Alaskan air filling our lungs. At one point, we were even treated to a clear view of Denali in the distance. This wasn't just a tour, it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that completely exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Alaskan Husky Adventures to anyone looking for something truly extraordinary. read more

If you're a solo female traveler, you may want to read this. I booked this tour after a warm phone call with Liz and drove over an hour to get there on February 15, 2026. The dogs were great and the trail was scenic, but my interaction with owner Matthew Failor detracted from the experience. At check-in, the waiver asked for my full address. When I hesitated and asked why, his response was essentially that I needed to fill it out or I wouldn't be allowed to go out on the sled. Only afterward did he vaguely mention insurance. Being given that kind of ultimatum in front of other guests felt coercive rather than respectful. After the run, he asked if I had fun and stayed warm. I answered simply and briefly. He then commented that I was "a woman of very few words," which came across as dismissive. He then asked where I live, despite my earlier hesitation about sharing personal information. As a woman traveling alone who had already shown discomfort about privacy, that felt intrusive and tone-deaf. The actual sled run was also noticeably shorter than expected, which made the overall experience feel less worth the cost. Liz later called, listened to my concerns, and processed a refund, which I appreciated. I'm sharing this so other women traveling alone can make an informed decision. While the dogs and trail were enjoyable, my interaction with Matthew made the overall experience uncomfortable and not worth repeating. read more

My family and I had such a special time at Alaska Husky Adventures! The owners and staff were incredibly knowledgeable, obviously passionate about their work, and most importantly, love their pups! We received just the right amount of information and history about dog-sledding and were able to ask unlimited questions :) The ride itself was perfect, and we got to spend some time with new puppies. The facility was clean, well-maintained, and we were so inspired by their start-up story! If you're looking for a quintessential Alaska experience, look no further! read more

My wife and I visited in September and it was a fantastic experience! We only expected a quick ride but our visit was so much more. We learned what it takes to prepare for a race like the Ididarod, including preparation of supplies, the dogs, the equipment, race strategy, and how changing conditions impact day to day decisions. We spent about 20 minutes learning about the dogs, their behaviors, and how they are trained. Once the dogs knew they would be selected for a run, the whole compound of 50+ dogs erupted in barking, howling, and yelping. I was just blown away by their excitement and how quickly it went from quietness to a crescendo. The summer sled was two place and we spent about 20 minutes being pulled along trails on their large property. It was amazing to see how easily the dogs could pull us and their interactions. Once we finished we examined a winter racing sled, and visited a mother with 10 pups, sooo cute! Kaci did an awesome job and spent over an hour with us throughout our visit. It was fantastic to see her enthusiasm when talking about caring for the dogs, training and racing. We also got to meet owner Matt who won the Kuskokwim 300 in 2019 with the fastest time in history. Matt was very humble and also shared his some of his racing experiences. Whether you are visiting the area or passing to/from Denali this is one stop you won't want to miss! read more

A truly Alaskan experience! My husband and I have lived in Anchorage for five years and this has been one of the best experiences. Who didn't grow up learning about the Iditarod in school? So cool to experience a very small piece of it. Our musher, Kaci was very knowledgeable and great on the trail. Matt and Liz were awesome to chat with before and after the ride. We got to love on the new puppies and all the other dogs! Each one was sweet and friendly. You can tell the care and love put into their dogs. Kasi, Matt, and Liz could tell us personal things about all the dogs. We'll be cheering for you guys this coming Iditarod race. A nice drive up from Anchorage. It would also be a great stop coming back from Denali or Talkeetna. We would love to come back in the summer to experience their one of a kind summer sleds. read more

What a great time had by all! I am a local and had family visiting from out of town. I spoke to a few different places before deciding on this one. Liz was so informative and friendly on the phone and that was one of the reasons I chose Alaskan Husky Adventures. Once we arrived, I had no doubt that I had made the right choice. The staff were all very friendly and had us feeling like family. They taught us all about dog racing and even as a local, I learned something new. Matt ran in last year's Iditarod and it was neat to hear about his experience. The dogs are loved on so much and treated very well. They were so excited to get hooked up and take us on a ride. Their unique summer dog sleds made it feel like the real thing even though there was no snow. Kaci was in charge of our dog team and answered every question I had. I have some disabilities and they were very accommodating. They let me inside an alternative entrance so I could join the group while they taught us about all things Iditarod. They even helped me maneuver in and out of the sleds as I couldn't do it on my own. Equally important, I never felt like the extra help I needed was a hassle. My company and my kids were all smiles at the end. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to get an authentic dog sledding adventure. read more

This was such an incredible experience, by far our favorite part of our Alaska trip. The drive out from Anchorage was super easy and beautiful. Once we arrived, we were immediately greeted like family and made to feel very welcome. We learned a ton about the dogs and the race and then got to meet and interact with all the dogs out in the yard. The training run was so fun and again the scenery was so beautiful. Liz took a great video of us at the start of the run that we are so grateful to have. Our guide, Kaci, was lovely and very knowledgeable, answering all our questions along the run. Then we got to go into the area with the puppies and just let them climb all over us. Kaci took so many wonderful pictures for us. Overall it was just such fantastic experience that we would absolutely recommend to anyone. You can tell that these are truly dog-people who love these dogs and this sport and want to share it with others. read more

March 2022 was warmer than usual in Anchorage, but fortunately Alaskan Husky still had a lot of snow on their beautiful private property. We had an exhilarating ride with Kaci as our musher, amazed at how well she handled the dogs and her knowledge. This adventure is one of the best we have been on. It was extremely personalized, and we were able to talk to the owner and his wife for long periods of time. The tour was more than we expected- from the information we learned about the Iditarod, to the dogs and puppies, to the sled ride itself. The sled ride had several stops, with an opportunity to talk to the driver and take pictures. My husband and I were able to switch places in order to both get the full experience. We were airdropped/emailed a video of our ride after the experience. Highly recommend. read more

And we love sharing their passion for running with visitors from around the world.
History
Established in 2020.
We're Liz & Matthew Failor, newlyweds with a mission to share Alaska's official sport with the world! Mushing brought us together when Liz, a former news anchor, was assigned to cover Alaska's famous, thousand-mile race, Iditarod, in 2018. Matthew was racing that year and it was love at first sight! We married at our dog kennel in July of 2020 and when, two weeks later, Liz's news station closed completely, we decided to try starting our own business. Sharing the dogs with visitors has been a passion of Matthew's for years, and Liz's unexpected layoff turned out to be the biggest blessing in disguise! Together, we launched Alaskan Husky Adventures and we feel lucky every day to be able to dedicate ourselves completely to our dogs. We love them so much and are excited to share the joy they bring to our lives with others!

Worth the scenic drive from Anchorage, AK. Liz was a friendly informative tour guide. Jaren was our sled guide and very friendly and informative, too. The dogs are very friendly and adorable! Got to play with some of the sled dogs. So cute! The sled ride itself was thrilling! Great family fun! It's right on the way to Danali National Park, so it would make a great stop on the way. You'll have to make reservations ahead of time online. I suggest that you wear a waterproof jacket and rain pants if it's rainy or bring a change of pants. Matthew even took a break from his work with the dogs to hang out with us, too. We loved meeting the huskies and watching them run free! The highlight for us was seeing and holding a few of the puppies and watching them learn to use their X-large running wheel. Liz and Matthew were very personable and accommodating.
