The log cabin in front is more of a welcome center and has some history and a greeter. The larger building in the back is more of where the magic happens. That is where you will find all the attraction brochures and the information of what is operating during that time of year. Both buildings are very clean and organized and they are strategically located by quite a few souvenir shops. There is metered street parking on the street in front of and adjacent to the Center. It was very helpful and got me a good itinerary put together. Like I said, this is a must stop when you are planning things to do during your vacation in anchorage.

She was a wealth of knowledge and such a fun person to spend the day with. Everywhere we went, she seemed to know everything. She interspersed personal anecdotes allowing us to get to know her better and to understand more about the area. Everything was included in the price of the tour. Lunch (of your choice - not just preset options), a beer at the brewery, and admission to the nature center were all taken care of. There were also snacks and water available in the van. We got lucky with a small group (4 people including us!), but the van only holds 13 people - much better than the giant coach busses! I cannot recommend Salmon Berry, and Michelle in particular, highly enough

Very remote, largely unknown campground. There is no service of any kind, so come prepared with…read moreanything you may need (firewood, water, emergency needs). Camping is free. There are 6 spots along the creeks - first come, first served. Layout is a little weird since some sites require you to walk through other people's sites to get to yours. The position of the site also makes it very shady and extremely buggy. It's beautiful, but the bugs here are phenomenal. 2 clean pit toilets. Each site has a bear box, picnic table, and firepit. 1 parking spot each. Absolutely NO ACCOMMODATION or access for campers or pullalongs. Palmer Creek Road is extremely narrow and, in many places, requires you to pull over and let others pass. No potable water, but located at the intersection of Coeur D'Alene and Palmer Creeks, so filtration is possible if you come prepared. No cell service. A place to unplug, enjoy nature. Be prepared for bears, etc. If the campground is full there are a number of places along the road that work as makeshift campsites as well, although the Forest Service has most places posted as Keep Off for tundra remediation due to ATV damage. This entire portion of the Chugach is posted as absolutely no ATV usage.

I'll never forget looking out at the breathtaking Alaskan scenery and realizing I was actually experiencing something I had only dreamed about. And then there was Maddie, our dog sled musher. Besides being a great pilot, he told us all about the glacier and surrounding area. During the landings he walked around with us and explained everything. He even showed us what wild berries to eat and of course we tried them. The last landing on the ice itself was an out of this world experience. We spent almost two weeks touring Alaska and this was by far the highlight of the trip. I highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Alaska.

However, after dealing with this company I think that "Crooked" is actually a term I would describe the manager and the owner. It is my understanding there have been numerous "extraordinary" events which would keep Warren from returning phone calls. Instead he would simply screen the calls. However, when someone eagerly takes money for a service and then refuses to answer the phone, texts, and emails I find no excuse. I have been waiting to fulfill a dream of a guided Alaskan fishing trip for more than 20 years. When I spoke to Warren (Gen Mgr) at the Sportsman's show in Boise he was very friendly. He gladly took my information and my money. However when a hiccup arose, he refused to answer any of the three phone numbers he'd given me. He did not answer emails. I spoke to him one time to try and rectify the situation, and he never called me back or answered. I finally had to dispute charges to my credit card. I hope those of you reading this will think twice about giving this company your business. If you do give the, money, I hope it works out for you, and you have a great fishing adventure. Caveat Emptor FYI: Crooked Creek received two horrible reviews on Facebook. I'd tell you to go read them, but it appears the management decided to erase the reviews from their page. First off.. the only way to get there is by Bush plane from the Anchorage airport. We were picked up and flown to the beautiful and quite Talaheim lodge. Once we landed we were given a tour of the grounds, which are beautiful and we were taken to our cabin. My fiancé and I had our own two story cabin with running water, electricity and a fireplace. It was perfect! During our vacation at the lodge we went on fishing excursions with our very own guide (who made us a great lunch), we went heli-hiking to Beluga Mountains, we took a helicopter to a glacier, we read, relaxed, had the BEST food and heard the most amazing stories that were told by the owner, Mark Miller. I would go back from Mark's stories alone. He was an incredible host and has a very friendly and talented staff. I can't wait to go back!

Everything they promise on their website is that much and more. We were greeted by the staff upon arrival by plane, and shown our accommodations. We loved our cabin next to the lodge and it was the perfect comfy cozy room to come home to after a long day on the water. The food was amazing! The guides all knowledgeable, the sights seen from a helicopter priceless including a HUGE grizzly on a ridge, 3 black wolves and bull moose grazing. It is hard to not repeat the previous reviewer but add instead. Both my husband and I are experience flyfishers and the fishing was smokin' hot! We used streamers, egg and mouse patterns, droppers, poppers and dries when needed. We lost count of fish count within the first hour or two. They are measured by pounds not by inches. Silvers, Dollies, Pinks, 'Bows, on and on......Since this is a small lodge, you became friendly with the other guests and staff pretty quick. A fun group. I appreciated the snacks and drinks in the mini fridge that was refreshed daily as well as the Alaska Ale on tap and wine after a long rewarding day out. The scenery spectacular and whole experience amazing We would go back in a heart beat and hope to soon.
