https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/crime-courts/2021/06/30/anchorage-rv-rental-company-ordered-to-pay-110000-for-unfair-business-practices/ We rented from this company in July. A payment was made in full well before July. Upon getting the RV we were asked to put down $2500 as a deposit in case of damages. This deposit has still NOT refunded. We had no damages on the RV and frankly we should have gotten a partial refund because the generator stopped working part way through the trip and the black water drain hose was damaged and leaked causing quite the mess when pumping. Very unprofessional staff that is not helpful or educated in billing and customer service. Save yourself the headache and rent somewhere else. read more

It sounds like he pulls the different year motor home game allot. He did this to us, said we could change the date but our schedule was firm. He said he cancelled someone else so we could get ours. Not sure if this was true. We ended up having to cancel the trip due to a death in the family inside the cancellation policy, he said there would be no refund. 24 hours later we said we will still come and he said the motorhomes where not available. Possibly double dipping! read more

Was told these were 2021 MotorHomes. The first one was 2019. It had a lot of cosmetic damage in inside. Windows noisy going down road. A lot of rattles. Pot drawer wouldn't latch, slide in/out while driving. Used it one night. Next morning had to push slide in to close. Next night, slide wouldn't go out at all. So, two nights in and had get a replacement RV. Yeah, back on our trip. Slide works. But now microwave doesn't work. Another drawer that was empty doesn't latch. So we taped this one. Spending $3000/wk for 2019 camper. I'm extremely disappointed. Supposed to be relaxing fun adventure seeing Alaska. Not problem solving our rental. read more

This seems to be a common issue with this company. We reserved in Dec 2019 with the 50% Off deal. The reservation was for August 2020 but covid hit. We extended it to August 2021. But with a bit more than a month before the trip he canceled our reservation under some BS pretext. What happened was that someone else reserved our RV at full 2021 rates (higher than 2020 and he eliminated the 50% deal). That's my assessment. He left us high and dry- there is not a similar RV available at this late date. We have no more Alaskan vacation but we have plane tics we can't use. This company is unethical. Do not even consider booking with them. read more

We are having a very bad experience with this company. My husband booked an rv with them and we had to cancel due to COVID 19. The cancellation was done in accordance to the contract, in time to receive a full refund. We've been going back and forth to get our money back since late April. Now almost 5 months after the cancellation, they are refusing to refund the money. The owner Pete Harkovich has even blocked our phone numbers so that he doesn't have to speak with us anymore. They're not responding to emails. Our next step will be to sue them to get our money back and filing a complaint with BBB. There are plenty of RV rental companies out there, so go somewhere else. The only reason I'm giving them one star is because yelp doesn't allow to give 0 stars, which is what they deserve. read more

Ended up getting a motorhome because I could not rent a car and the experience turned out to be much better than I thought. The RV campsites were in prime locations in Alaska and outside of the lack of long showers it was a lot of fun! read more

Let me tell you out front. This company is not...NOT customer friendly. Very money oriented. The rate of 300 per night seemed a bit high, but the hired helper, Sherriff Cole, who regards himself as the enforcer, was somewhat pleasant at first. How quickly this changed when I arrived a few hours late, when returning the motorhome. I rented the motorhome for 1500.00, for a week. They charged me an additional 1500 for being 3 hours late. They had a fleet of 7 units sitting in the parking lot. It wasn't like I kept another customer from having their unit. I rented the motorhome with the understanding that our flight was arriving in Anchorage after midnight. The company said that they would have the ready for me when we arrive. Which upfront seemed like a reasonable way to accommodate the customer, but we arrived at 1am. After I woke up the next morning, the contract stated that the rental started at 3pm the previous day. So, in essence, I am renting this motorhome for 300 dollars, without even moving one inch. Better off taking a free shuttle to the downtown hotels. 150 to 250 a night for a quality room. This was a RIP off. But Sherriff Cole thought he was doing me a favor. I have tried to contact the owners, who reside in Florida, but after 2 weeks, I have still not received a return receipt from the registered letter that I had posted. They rented me the unit without even showing me how to operate. The oven was completely useless. I was not going to try to figure it out and end up blowing up the unit. Unless you are familiar with how to empty the waste tanks, you will be trying to figure out by trial and error. One other thing.... my comrade on my trip was a Chinese man who had immigrated here years ago. I really saw a very mean look from Sherriff Cole, I have a feeling that this place is not Asian friendly. But the whole thing is a sham. Use Clipper ship or another reputable company. Don't waste your time with Sherriff Cole. read more

We are having a very bad experience with this company. Stay away from them. My friend rented an RV but we had to cancel due to COVID. We did that in time according to the contract. We emailed him and called him but he said we would get full refund in a few months. 5 months later, he is refusing to refund the money and he is not answering emails or phone calls. He is even blocking the phone numbers. Please, do some research and read reviews from differnt sites, and you will find this is not an isolated case. read more

motor home was in ok condition. credit card was charged the incidental fees right away and had a hard time getting back deposit. was disappointed that it was charged out and became our problem to try and resolve! read more

Our family had an excellent experience with Alaska Motor Home. Cole and Ira were friendly and professional. Cole answered our phone calls when we had questions. Having the bedding and linens included was wonderful. We would not hesitate using them again when we come back to visit family in Alaska. Thank you Cole for helping us have a trio of a lifetime. This was our second time renting from Alaska Motor Home and will definitely be returning again. The unlimited miles is a plus advantage to see the whole state of Alaska. Thanks for making our trip amazing! :) read more

Alaska Motorhomes - RV Rental Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

It was a great experience and Cole was very helpful and accommodating. We had previously reserved with a larger RV rental company which canceled our reservation 2 weeks prior to our arrival with no explanation. We lucked out and found Alaska Motor Home Inc and we were back in business. The RV was in great condition and it was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend them! read more

Everything that is good about the RVs from this place starts from the price at which they offer their RVs. There are NO hidden charges. People working/owning this place are helpful, available and ready to answer any naive questions from first timers like me. We had no issues while renting their RV for 6 days. Again - "Cost effective", their prices are half the price from any other business with legit RVs. read more

Had a bad experience with this company and specifically with the owner Pete Harkovitch. It's a very long story but the short version is he is refusing to refund our $4,440 after we had to cancel (within their stated cancellation period) because of COVID and the closed Canadian border and Parks as we were transporting a new RV to Anchorage. Do you homework before booking with them - BBB, Alaska Attorney General, etc. As the other negative reviews on Yelp have stated, go somewhere else! I'm having to sue him now to get my money back - when I filed my BBB complaint he sent me a death threat via email - criminal charges are pending. You have been warned! read more

After reading some of the reviews I felt like I needed to add mine in October we called and talked to Pete and booked three motor homes and a fifteen passenger van for august 2021 then in June we finally got hold of Pete again to cancel one motor home and he said he was canceling the van so after many many tries finally answers in July and informs us he is canceling all our reservations..in mid July we finally get a refund.but buy this time it is to late and the cost more doubled.so read the reviews and check with bbb before booking with another crook like Pete harkovich!!! read more

Highly recommend!!! I and my wife had a very pleasant trip in Alaska. We certainly could have not enjoyed and had such fun with out help from Alaska Motors. This was my very first RV rental. Cole and his team was always available for us 24*7 to answer any question and guide us. And the best part is that this was a brand new RV; and not to mention Alaska mortar RV rental is an all inclusive rental and has no add-on / hidden fees that can be a surprise to you from other providers read more

THIEVES!! I cannot over caution you to stay clear of this place. They are attempting to steal $1110 from me. I signed up to transport an RV from the factory in Indiana to Anchorage in Sept 2019 for transport 15 May 2020, and sent them my deposit. I asked for a copy of the transport agreement in October of 2019, only to be told by Cole that he was re-writing it. I asked again in February 2020, and was again told it was being re-written. When they finally released the contract, we the drivers, were already inside of their self imposed no opt-out window!! The contract was a horrible deal for the drivers but unless we agree they will keep our money. Talk about entrapment. Legal action is now being taken. Save yourself the headache and steer clear of this place. read more

Don't rent from this company unless you want worn out, beat up, and cheaply provisioned motorhomes. We reserved a 24' because I wanted to go to a state park that only allowed 24' motorhomes. But when we arrived to pick up our coach we were forced to take a 30'. Cole said he can't help it if motorhomes get damaged and that was al he had to offer. There was a 22' coach in the parking lot but he insisted that that motorhome had over 60K miles on it and we wouldn't like it. I think they let you take their newer coaches if you pay full price. We booked in March and got a decent rate of $170 a night but they don't tell you that you won't be getting a newer motorhome. So beware of the old Switch and Bait routine here. While there are no hidden charges up front, look out for junk they rent you. Their website says "top quality bed" but the bed mattress was so worn out it sank in the middle about 2 feet. We had to waste a day bringing the motorhome back so they could exchange out the mattress. They don't even use mattress covers. Maybe their coaches should be inspected by the department of health. The towels and linens are something they found at 2nd hand stores, just the cheapest they could buy. When I asked for more than 2 sets of silverware I was treated like a criminal. Don't expect much in the way of customer service after you have arrived as they are just interested in your money and don't really care if you have any amenities. Peter was nice to talk to while making a reservation but if you have any issues he quickly changes into an instant bastard, telling you he owns about 100 motorhomes and many properties and he doesn't need your business. So don't complain about anything at all or you'll get treated like a little kid by a father who is angry!! Truth is they only have about 10 motorhomes and as soon as you bring the motorhome back it's sent right back out. So, no maintenance is ever done to their vehicles except washing. The side windows didn't lock. The refridge only kept cold using propane. We had to ask to have the microwave cleaned upon picking up the motorhome. When you bring the motorhome back they don't even do a walk through with you so you can be sure they won't ding you for damage you didn't do. Just a guy and his kid interested in one thing and that's to make money on travelers now that renting motorhomes in Alaska has become so popular. RENT from one of the other companies!! read more

When we made arrangements to deliver a motorhome to Alaska, our understanding was that the $1000 deposit was refundable. We were not informed that the $1000 deposit was non-refundable, nor was it described as a 'one-way rental fee', which we discovered was the case upon our delivery of the vehicle. The paperwork only said there was a $1,000 deposit and that customer was responsible for gas, oil, and propane. I requested reimbursement for gas and propane we had to fill when picking up the vehicle. Their Delivery agreement says: "3. Gasoline and propane tanks are released full and must be returned full." The motorhome was NOT released full, we received it empty. The owner refused to reimburse us for gas and propane that should have been in the vehicle when we picked it up. We returned it full of gas and propane as required. Aso, they stated they were placing a $2500 hold on our credit card when in reality it was a final charge. His emails stated it would drop automatically, then he said they had refunded it, then he said it was out of their hands. I had to begin a dispute procedure with our financial institution. We had to buy tools, perform repairs, troubleshoot systems and were unable to use the generator. We did not receive the promised operating instructions. As a result, we were unable to use the bed the first night, and it took three days before we had hot water after my husband made repairs. Also, buyer beware (wish we had known this!), check out their record under their previous name of B&B RV Rentals, Anchorage. I feel their business practices are deceptive and their customer service is poor. read more

We had a great experience renting a 22' RV for our 10 trek in Alaska! Cole and Ira were both extremely nice and helpful. They were able to answer all of our questions and showed us how to use everything on the RV. We were able to record them showing us how to empty the waste tanks, which I highly recommend doing if you've never driven an RV before. They had the RV ready for us hours earlier than planned so we were able to get an early start on the day, they offered to let us stay overnight in the RV since our flight was arriving at 1am, and drove us from their office to the rental car agency after dropping off the RV. It was also very convenient having everything included in the cost: mileage (a huge plus!), generator use, kitchenware, towels, bedding, etc. Thank you for the great experience! read more

DO NOT USE Alaska Motor Home, Inc. I reserved an RV rental through their website and received a confirmation email with my order number, the specifications of the RV, and the dates I had selected with a note that the reservation was on hold until payment could be confirmed and instructions to call them to provide payment details. When I called, I was shocked by the incredibly rude customer service and was informed that there was no availability for my dates and I did not have a reservation. I provided the confirmation number and was rudely told off. I asked how it was possible that their website let me make a reservation and sent a confirmation email when there was no availability, and the customer service agent asked if I wanted the number for their web developer. I had purchased plane tickets after receiving the confirmation email and was left scrambling to find another company with availability. I will never use Alaska Motor Home, Inc. again. They cannot be trusted and have terrible customer service. read more
