If you're looking for a trustworthy, comprehensive, clean camper for a memorable vacation, look no…read morefurther than Northern Nomads and book your camper vehicle today! We needed something easy to drive and maneuver around for a busy 5 day trip. We debated about RV vs van camper and I'm so so glad we chose a camper van with this "company". I put "company" in air quotes bc even though it is a business, it didn't feel that way. You can tell immediately this is a personal venture - Clinton was extremely prompt with any communication. We booked through outdoorsy.com and there was a system glitch two days before our arrival so my husband emailed Clinton and he called back very shortly afterwards to explain and confirm our van and dates of reservation. He picked us up at the airport (with a 6 am arrival time no less! He also dropped us off back at the airport) and then took his time to review the contract and functionality of the camper. He was thoughtful and thorough and very responsive. Felt like everything had a personal touch to it and he was honest. The camper is extremely well equipped. Bed is comfortable, and comes with pillows, sheets and an amazing comforter. There are drapes for privacy which was great to block out the night time light (since the sun sets so late here in the Summer; they're not black out drapes and we were told that from the get go. Again, honest owner ) and adds privacy when we parked (drapes blocks out the front and side windows). There is a pump sink, all the major cooking pots and cast iron pan (!), coffee pot, propane portable grill, table for eating inside and folding table for grilling roadside. Large cooler also comes with. Recessed lighting and surround sound with Bluetooth connection means you're one click away from a van party (Seriously. The bass is legit.). Comes with plugs and usb connection and axillary battery to charge all your mobile devices. The van is smooth to drive (okay, I admit, I didn't drive it, but my husband loved it and said it was easy to use and drive). We averaged 25-30 miles a gallon (which is amazing for a van). It was clean, quiet, and totally met and exceeded our needs and expectations! #glamping Hands down if we come back again, we will be looking to rent from Northern Nomads again. They won't leave your stranded. Clinton was telling us how he's looking into a spare van/camper to make sure people who book with him won't be stranded should there be an issue with the van (ex. Tire issue, bull moose crash - these are real examples). You spend a lot of time, money and energy getting to the last frontier, you want to make sure it's a solid trip. THIS will give you a home to stay while maximizing your time in Alaska!

Clinton and Kelsey picked us up and dropped us off from the airport and we're super responsive to any questions. The sink inside the van was also super clutch. Aside from the van being very nice and well designed, Carolyn, the owner, is so professional and kind. I lost the keys to the van on a hike about 2 hours out of town and was stuck outside during winter and when I called for help she had a preplanned solution to it that helped me get back in quickly. It was my first time driving on icy roads and I did cause some damage to the van, which was worrying because I was afraid of telling the owner directly about this, but she was incredibly professional about it, reassuring, and helpful solving it. To make matters worse, in a fit of exhaustion upon returning the vehicle, I locked the only set of keys in the van. She was unbelievably patient despite a whole comedy of errors on my behalf. Overall lovely experience with this company and highly recommend.

This was our first time in a camper van, and we were a little apprehensive, but the van is easy to drive, and is well equipped with everything you will need to make your Alaska Adventure worry free. It was a joy not to have to set up a tent each night, and to know we would be warm and dry if we encountered bad weather. The van has a heater and a refrigerator, as well as more storage space than we expected. Compared to the high cost of renting a car to get around and still having to pay for a campground or hotel room, the van cost was very reasonable. Plus, because we didn't have to pack up each time we moved to a new location, we had more time to enjoy our trip.

At around midnight, less than 80 miles from downtown, we experienced a severe accident. The six screws on the left rear outer tire were completely missing. The car was shaking violently, putting all our lives in danger. The right side of the road was a cliff with a river below, posing a significant risk of fatality for everyone in the vehicle. Fortunately, our driver, with 30 years of experience, managed to stop the car safely by pulling over to the left side, ensuring the safety of all passengers and the vehicle. The next day, the RV company did not provide a replacement vehicle until 4 PM, When the company sent repair personnel to the scene of the accident, they looked at the cause of the accident and immediately said, "This is terrifying, it's unimaginably terrible." One of the car mechanics also said, "Thank you for saving our company's vehicle." And we replied, "It's not just the vehicle , it's the lives of the seven people in the car, and the mechanic reminds us, "Please report that information to our company, and I'll report it to our company too." however, it was causing us to lose the previous night's accommodation fee and disrupting our plans for the following day. Our entire Alaskan itinerary was delayed, and we had to cancel many scheduled activities. On July 12th, when we returned the vehicle, the RV company staff were very uncooperative and refused to discuss the incident with us. knowing we have a plane to catch. They did not offer any solution and simply told us to leave. In the office, we requested a compensation plan from Chrystal, who refused to continue the conversation and asked us to leave. They insisted on taking us directly to the airport without addressing our concerns. in the end of case, they just pay back us $225.

From the initial booking, to airport pick up/drop offs - everything went smoothly. The van itself was the perfect size for exploring Alaska. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would 100% recommend Northern Access.

We did have one occasion to try to get in touch with the owners when we thought we may be prevented from coming on time back due to a wildfire and couldn't get through - but that is to be expected if they are out enjoying their own getaway as happened to be the case. Were able to get picked up at our one nights of real lodging and then dropped the car off at the airport which was also very convenient. I would definitely rent here again especially as it is a locally owned small business enterprise.

Sabine (the owner) answered all the questions we had from RV to mosquitoes to everything else under the sun. She helped us so much on planning the entire Alaska trip. She was so patient and kind. Because AAA is outside of Anchorage, you don't have to pay the 10% tax. Another thing we love about AAA is that they have no hidden fees. At the end, I think we saved about $700 renting from AAA comparing to other big RV companies in Anchorage. The RV was very clean and in good condition when we got it. Picnic chairs and table and cooler come with the RV rental at no additional charge. They provide a good supply of kitchenware (pots, pans, dishes, small bowls, cookware, silverware, etc.) toiletries, clean towels, first aid kit, cooler, pillows, blankets. They will make sure you have enough for the length of your rental. They even put a pair of latex glove for dump stations which we thought was very thoughtful. They let us borrow a bear spray but luckily we didn't need to use it. Before you take off, Sabine, personally, would go over the RV with you, and show you how to operate the gas stove, turn on/off the generator, water heater, AC, heater, etc. She put together a little manual in case of emergency. She gave us her cell number in case we ran into any problems with the RV, we would have been able to contact her. We forgot how to operate a few things and I had to call her a couple times; Sabine was more than happy to show us again. I can't say enough how happy and satisfied we are with Sabine and her rental company. They are amazing beyond words. I would strongly recommend using Amazing Accommodation Alaska.

Flight was on the ground and we were at the door at 5:55pm. Lady ignored us and locked the doors. There were a handful of renters that were left either finding a place to stay or staying in the parking lot in the rv. Checkout the following morning took a whole 10 minutes! So we had to delay our departure by 13 hours for a 10 minute process. For $4100 to rent the rv, I would think a reasonable amount of flexibility warranted. This delayed us getting to a scheduled fishing charter at cooper landing. The shuttle was also not running so we had to grab an Uber to get there. Be aware of this when considering flight times. The rv was ok.
