He picked me up from Lithia Auto Body Shop and came in, introduced himself before we were on the road. I had recently gotten into a car accident all the way from March, and it wasn't till now that my personal car was going into the shop due to the claim being a hassle. It was easy to talk to him while we were heading to Enterprise and after introducing the car to me, he filled me in on what Enterprise offers with the rental. As well as the policies and procedures which I didn't feel too bad about because of how he was explaining it. He had amazing customer service, and my first impressions of him was: that he had such a great vibe to him! I was set up with a 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross and it's nice because it is one of my dream cars. Right now I don't see any problems with it, other than learning about the car. Everything was in a timely manner as well and it really shows that he loves what he does. Shoutout to Jonathan. He was truly amazing and I hope to work with him again!

Within an hour of getting off the phone with insurance, a gentleman from Enterprise called to set up the car rental. Since we didn't have info from the body shop, we weren't able to book the exact timeframe. They followed up a couple more times throughout the month to ensure we were taken care of and booked an SUV. Sooooo... with that being said, the 3 stars is for the customer service. I did arrive quite early to pick up the vehicle because my husband had to suddenly go out of town for work and I had to make things work. The gentleman that assisted me was very polite and I let him know that it was no trouble to wait a bit. After about 30 minutes he let me know they had my car ready. Couple things... I've never not had a full tank of fuel when renting a car and only had half a tank. Not too big of a deal but when commuting daily, a full tank is appreciated to start off with. We did a walk around and there were the typical dings and scratches pointed out, no big deal. It was very cold outside and the car had apparently just been washed because it had a coat of ice over it. I got in the car and the center console and glove box were open to try to thaw the car out. But that's no big deal, it's the fact that the inside of the car was pretty gross. I was in a hurry at this point and more focused on getting to where I needed to be safely. There was garbage in the passenger door, which I didn't see for a few days since I was driving on my own. There were food crumbs and grease on the dashboard and cup holders. A note from another renter that didn't get thrown away. Grossly sticky steering wheel. 'Change oil' light on. Just not what is expected when renting an upgraded car for a couple weeks. Upon returning the car, their computers were down and we were not given anything saying we returned it. I took a photo of the odometer and we were fine. We also never received the documents via email like we were told. We did let the young lady know the vehicle was gross inside and that the way we returned it was exactly how it looked when I drove off the lot. She was extremely apologetic and we let her know the customer service was great but that should be looked into a bit. Again, Customer Service was great but the car was just plain gross... I shouldn't have to wipe down the steering wheel to drive a newly rented car! Blech!

Second, Cheapwheels forces you to buy their extremely pricey "insurance," which is void if you drive off-road (a problem for a state with so many B&B's that require driving on unpaved roads), and it requires a $1 to $2,000 deductible! No other car rental company requires such an outrageous deductible if you buy their coverage, and every reputable place will have basic insurance built into the rental cost itself. Additionally, Mike and Cindy are extremely shady and unethical businesspeople. Not only did they not explain how minimal their required "insurance" coverage is despite its exorbitant cost, but they also charge a $100 non-refundable deposit, which is unheard of in the car rental industry. This 'deposit' scheme was not adequately explained to me, of course, and was nowhere in writing. My credit card company is now attempting to get the money back after I had to cancel the reservation (after I found out about their shady insurance policy), and it is money that they basically stole.

I took one of their rentals to explore the south central portion of Alaska during a bucket list vacation in 2015. Not only were their prices highly competitive, but Mike & Cindy were a nice balance of no-nonsense & friendly. We chatted before I set out on my trip & once I returned the car. My rental was relatively new, in great condition, & gave me absolutely no trouble; on the contrary, it was quite the trooper for my 2-week road trip. I made sure to view the company's fine print & maps to ensure I wouldn't be traveling anywhere that wasn't allowed, so all went well for me. I am so grateful to Cheapwheels Rent-a-Car for providing a safe, comfortable, economical, & durable car so that I could have one of the best vacations of my life.

After waiting 45mins, they said they found a Corolla for us. This car was in worst possible condition. 60k+ miles, cracked windshield (see the pics), filthy seats, worn out tires. We had no choice but to take this car because it difficult to get rental cars at the last moment in Alaska. In the end, we didnt drive the McCarthy road fearing that this car would break down. Beware of this car company.

After realizing this, I gave HC a call to inquire about renting and was surprised and thankful to discover that their rates were much better than the big name companies. The person on the phone was patient and more than willing to answer my questions--I booked immediately. When we got the car it was very clean and in great shape. We had a great vacation and ended up extending our trip and rental another day which was no hassle at all with these guys. Upon return they gave us a shuttle ride to the airport. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's nice to deal with and support a local business and it's even better when they leave an impression like they did with us.

We finally got to Anchorage and Ron couldn't have made the check in process better. We arrived, the jeep was waiting for us, paperwork was ready to go. After a brief conversation wife and I were on our way within 45 min, that's including them going over the process of how everything works. We spent 10 days going from Seward, to Whittier, to Denali, to Hatcher's pass, to Palmer and back...1,009 miles. When we returned the vehicle the check out process was super easy, again Ron even drove us to our hotel. This definitely was a trip full of memories and our 1st trip to Alaska. We thank you Ron for making it an easy and a pleasant experience for us.

Tbh we wanted to love this, it was our first time renting a camper van and we were super excited…read moreabout it. BUT we had so many small little problems with the jeep that it didn't make the whole Alaska experience awesome. John was great, he was super helpful and kind, really nothing to say about him, but Ron was another thing. We called him to tell him we had problems with the car and his response was pretty rude tbh, (I'm paying for the car to be working, right?) and his response was: if you don't want it we don't have another car, you can come back here but i don't promise anything, because we don't have more vehicles, So that's what you get. (like the car was for free). Our radio was broken, we even went to buy some aux cables because maybe it was just the radio, but no, the whole thing was damaged, so we had to buy a new speaker because a roadtrip without music? No fun! One of the windows had so much noise coming in, I don't know if they didn't seal it properly, but it was the most annoying part of the whole jeep, it was super LOUD, and the best of it all, they said it wasn't their fault, that it was "jeeps fault". If you are providing a service you have to make sure everything is perfect and works well, that's the minimum as a company. The right blinker on the front side was broken, the windshield had cracks, the lights on the tent and the sockets in the car weren't working. When we returned the car, we talked about all of these things and we ask for a discount or money back, and they gave as a 50 dollar bill, at that moment I didn't know if I had to laugh or cry. Just to make sure, we returned the car, EXTRA CLEAN, inside and outside, it's really nice that they give and provide utensils, pots, pillows and chairs (even tho one of the chair was broken) and we didn't fill the gas completely about 3/4 and the guy said it was alright because all of the things that happened and he dropped us in the airport. As I said before, you can't blame third parties when you are PROVIDING a service. It's your RESPONSIBILITY as a company to deliver and have good quality cars (in this case) we booked our jeep months in advance, so it wasn't a last minute thing, for that we expected a superb car with no issues. I hope they can fix those issues so nobody else has to deal with that :)
