Today we had the opportunity to get together with a group of our church family after service and had such a great experience at Alaska Coffee! Karen and her staff served us with so much love. Truly A+ and 5-star service! Every order was made exactly how we asked, and everything was so good. They were so welcoming, patient with our group, and always had a smile on their faces. You can tell they really care about the people they serve, and that makes such a difference. Great coffee, great food, and amazing service. We felt so welcomed and taken care of. We will definitely be back! read more

We came here after getting fasted bloodwork done nearby. We were very hungry! Alaska did NOT disappoint! We were there early; before 8AM, so there was plenty of seating and no wait to order. We ordered a large black coffee and a large breakfast pizza. The breakfast pizza comes with eggs your way (poached, scrambled, over easy, medium or hard), choice of cheese (cheddar, swiss, smoked provolone or mozzarella) and a meat or a veg. We opted for over medium, smoked provolone and mushrooms. The pizza took a while to be ready and it was worth the wait! Deliciously crispy and smoky, enhanced by their real wood fired oven! It was a true delight! The coffee was fantastic as well. We had it black, the true test of coffee greatness, and Alaska's house roast passed the test with flying colors! Add in a pleasant dining room and friendly service, and this is a true 5-star experience! read more

As a treat on a busy Saturday filled with chores, stopped by breakfast. Went for the Eggs Benedict and of course a nice cuppa Joe. While the service was super friendly and the coffeehouse/pizza shop vibe was pleasant ( loved the jazz music), the dish itself was a 4 out of 5. The Hollandaise was watery and lacking in the flavor department. The ham was just OK. For a premium price, a bit disappointing That all being said, it just might not be their best dish. The avocado toast looked amazing. I'll try this place again, if only to explore the amazing looking items in the bakery case. read more

By far one of my favorite coffee houses in SoFlo. Their brews are consistently amazing and the breakfast and lunch menu has plenty of fresh, flavorful options. To be honest it's hard to make a bad choice here. From coffee cakes to scones to muffins to empanadas, their savory and sweet breakfast and lunch options always hits the spot. Be sure to ask what their coffee of the day is, or if you have the patience, give their French press a try. Yumm read more

This popular coffee shop in North Miami is known for its house roasted coffee. They also have a shop in Fairbanks, Alaska. They also offer a variety of food including; sandwiches, pizzas and baked goods. They have a range of coffee options including; daily brews, French press, cold brew, teas, smoothies and specialty drinks. They also offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free items. A drive through is also available. The atmosphere is charming and inviting. I ordered a couple Almond Croissant $5.75 to go. I've suggested group runs in North Miami on weekend mornings pretty much for the purpose of coming here to Alaska Coffee Roasting afterwards. The clean, warm decor, the frosty AC, the smell of different roasted coffees, the quick counter ordering and the anticipation of freshly made breakfast and lunch dishes---all make a post run visit here wonderful. They have a water dispenser with cups to serve yourself water while you wait for your food and so on your coffee. Speaking of which, there are so many options it's dizzying, because you can choose your fancy drinks hot or iced and also choose the roast you want. I usually go for the coffee of the day which is a hot cup for $2.50. It is a cup of smooth coffee made with ever changing beans. My cups when I have gone have been Nicaraguan and Ethiopian roasts. They have milk in creamer pitchers at the water dispenser counter along with the sugars and napkins to serve yourself. You pick up your food order when it is brought out from the kitchen you can glimpse and your name is called. The utensils are at the side of the pickup counter. This means that the dining experience is completely self serve from the time you place your order. I love this setup because it makes the place so relaxed, to the point that you forget you're freezing inside because all that sweat you expelled earlier is frosting up. I've gotten the loaded hash browns a couple times because they live up to the name and load me up! Sautéed vegetables, bacon bits and plenty of melted cheddar on top of crispy shredded potatoes make for a magical post run breakfast. My friends like their wings, particularly the coffee buffalo sauce, and I've been able to get it on the side. It's tangy, slightly rich and smooth despite the coffee grounds that are mixed in. One day, I'll get the wings with that sauce! The lovely owner Karen took some time to talk to us the first time we visited as a group. Her brother opened a coffee shop in Alaska, sourcing coffee from around the work. She wanted to have a coffee shop here in South Florida, hence the name. She has way more food options, according to her. We're lucky to have her here! read more

Alaska Coffee Roasting - Loaded Hash Browns - Coffee & Tea Near Me - North Miami, Florida

If Miami-Dade had a cathedral for coffee, Alaska Coffee Roasting would be it. You don't just smell coffee here--you feel it. Beans roasted on-site, air thick with smoke and promise, the kind of aroma that makes you forget every mediocre cup you've ever choked down. This isn't hype--it's the BEST coffee shop in the county, full stop. Karen, the owner, is a firecracker who runs the place with equal parts warmth and grit. She knows her guests, makes strangers feel like regulars, and regulars feel like family. I've dragged friends from overseas here, the kind who swear their hometowns invented café culture, and months later they're still talking about the coffee, the pizzas, the pastries. And about those pizzas--yes, pizzas in a coffee shop. Not a gimmick. These are the real deal: thin crust, wood-fired perfection that could stand against Miami's best. The pastries? Buttery, flaky, and crafted like they matter. This is food that lingers with you, the kind of bites that make you reevaluate what a coffee shop can be. What sets this place apart is resilience. Alaska Coffee Roasting took a one-two punch--Covid nearly flattened it, then a fire burned it down. Most businesses would've folded. Karen rebuilt. Not just the walls, but the heartbeat. Step inside and you feel it: survival, stubbornness, and pride served in every cup. If there's one thing missing, it's a touch of live culture--a mic night, a local musician, some entertainment to match the energy of the space. Because this place deserves it. It's already the gold standard of coffee in Miami-Dade. Add a little live sound and you'd have perfection. Five stars, no hesitation. Alaska Coffee Roasting isn't just a coffee shop--it's a story of survival, flavor, and soul, poured hot into your cup. read more

"I'd like to speak to the manager"...because the breakfast sandwiches are delicious. Yes, they actually have a very delicious sandwich called "The Karen" which I ordered because of the name and meme. I met up with some fellow foodie runners at Alaska Coffee Roasting after our Saturday run in the FIU North Campus. Although it has an outdoor dining area, the drizzle and needing to cool down after running, we decided to eat inside. We placed our order at the counter, and were called when it's ready. Since I wanted to save my calories for a dessert, I started with a regular black Americano coffee without sugar or creme. The aforementioned sandwich is essentially a caprese salad with a slice of creamy mozzarella, fresh greens, tomato on a fluffy croissant. Being a "Kevin" I requested to add grilled chicken on mine. Dessert was a stack of about 4 fluffy blueberry pancakes occupying maximum plate real estate. Garnished with a sprinkle of fresh blueberries and syrup, they were large & yummy enough that I took for breakfast the next day (or I would have to run another lap). read more

I was in need of a caffeine refreshment boost while in North Miami. I prefer supporting independent coffee shops and was delighted to find a bit of Alaska in Miami in the Shoppes of Arch Creek. Alaska Roasting Company was founded in 1993 in Fairbanks Alaska by Michael Gesser. This coffeehouse is known for finishing its own fresh beans in a Sivitz small-batch roaster. This location in North Miami is only the second to open. Coffee beans from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sumatra, and Nicaragua are hand-selected and roasted on site. Gesser calls his coffee "the wine of the tropics." In 2022 the Miami New Times included it on the list of The Ten Best Coffeehouses in Miami and in 2023 Restaurant Guru declared it Best Coffeehouse in North Miami. Parking is plentiful out front. Inside I was surprised to see this coffee shop was more spacious than I had guessed from the outside. There were numerous tables for people to eat and work at along with charging stations. There is also a really nice outdoor patio on the side if you would prefer to enjoy the outdoors. The menu is vast offering both breakfast and lunch. You can choose from sandwiches, wraps, salads, and pastries along with a myriad of coffee and tea drinks. They even have their own pizza oven. I ordered an iced mocha latte and a cannoli. The latte was rich and flavorful, a 10/10. It was the perfect pick me up. Roasting your own beans in house makes the different. The cannoli was okay. I ordered it knowing that unless you get it at an Italian bakery where they pipe it fresh in front of you, you are never going to get a superior one. The shell was soggy as to be expected when they sit too long. In any case this coffee house is a true gem in North Miami. read more

Amazing service, even better food! No frills coffee shop, went for the first time with a group of ladies after a run. I was a little overwhelmed by all of the options in a good way because everything looked so good. You have a full menu of cooked to order items as well as a case of baked goods that rotates. My order, matcha latte with cookie butter syrup, plus a pressed ham egg and cheese croissant sandwich. I have also been since then and ordered the breakfast pizza with an empanada and coffee cake. You can't go wrong here. The owner is such a sweet person, her dedication to the craft really shows. read more

I couldn't help myself, I had to make another review. In only such a short period of time, I have become a regular here. It's my favorite chill spot to go wind down, catch up on my show, do my bible study, plan out my week and even do my budget planning. The atmosphere is so relaxing and I can calm my mind after coming from a busy and hectic day with work and life. I recently tried the espresso wings, green goddess pizza, and a coffee with their new toasted almond mocha flavor over a span of different visits. Needless to say, everything gets a 10 10 10 across the board!!! I will be back again with more reviews and to shout out my favorite barista in there! I keep forgetting to jot down her name. xoxo read more

Come in and cool down with some warm Alaskan hospitality to a neighborhood gem that outshines the giants! If you're tired of the "cookie-cutter" corporate coffee experience and want a place that actually has a soul, this is it. While it has that familiar, cozy "third-place" vibe you might expect from a major chain like Starbucks, this family-owned and operated café takes everything to a whole different level. Why It's the Best Coffee and Food in Town: Small-Batch Quality, Big-Time Flavor: You can taste the difference that comes from this family's passion. The coffee is expertly roasted and never bitter--the baristas here treat every latte like a work of art plus the daily specials and customizations seem endless If you want something a bit different or just choose the standards, it's just up to you. Real Food, Not Factory-Made: Unlike the pre-packaged, frozen fare at big chains, the food here is freshly made and flavorful. Whether it's their signature breakfast pizzas or their house-made pastries, you can tell everything is prepared with care in their own kitchen. Warm, Authentic Service: At many corporate shops, you're just a name on a cup. Here, you're treated like a neighbor. The owners are often behind the counter, or frequently back in the kitchen, ensuring every guest has a perfect experience. Awesome Atmosphere: It has very reliable Wi-Fi and comfortable seating you need for a "work-from-home" afternoon, but with a local charm and community feel that a franchise simply can't replicate. Verdict: This is officially my local favorite when I need a pick me up on the go or some great food with family and friends, or even to have a quick meeting out of the office, with great coffee, tea, decaf and ice varieties along with some awesome food options. So come in and support a local business and treat yourself to a superior caffeine fix at the same time. If you are looking for the best local coffee shop with food, skip that siren and head here instead. You won't regret it! read more

I use this shopping plaza often but never had a chance to try this cafe. My friend heard good things about this place. So we decided to meet up for breakfast. When we got there around 10 am, there were only a few people inside and outside. We studied the menu and picked a breakfast pizza and loaded hash browns with coffee. Pizza took time since they baked it inside the oven. But it was worth waiting. Loaded hash browns were good too. (A bit overcooked?) The place is not too big and feels cozy. Cool place, various pastries and brunch food, tables inside and outside. My concern was with the service. Disorganized. I assume the manager lady/cleaner/kitchen helper is the owner because she seems to be everywhere. The young lady taking our order was interrupted by her and taken away. I've been coming to this little spot for years now. I first discovered ACR when a dear friend asked me to meet her there for a Coffee Klatch. And I've been going off and on since then. And they manage to stay the same, yet get better every time I stop in for bite. The coffee and tea are awesome! They have a wide variety to offer. And yes you may have your selection hot or cold. If you can't find something to tickle your fancy, there's always Dunkin. Cinnamon Buns, Cookies, Pastries, Cakes, Pies and Muffins! Sweet and Savory alike are just staring at you; all laid out in the display case mocking you and daring you to try at least one of them. Breakfast Burritos, Frittats and Sandwiches start out the menu. Now for reason I'm writing this review......the Wood Fired Pizzas. The pizzas are fresh and cooked just the way you like it; I'm a crispy crust guy myself. I've had a few on the menu but the Green Goddess; I like to add sausage Sausage....,is my favorite. Now like any other cafe/bistro worth their salt, they also have Sandwiches, Wraps, Soups and Salads on hand to tamper down your hunger. ACR is a great place to start out your day or lull away an evening to let the traffic on Biscayne The Boulevard Of Dreams die down before heading home or whatever that road takes you. BTW, you may also buy coffee by the pound. read more
