Like many of you in NE Miami, when Andiamos pizza closed last fall we lost our traditional pizza joint. That started The Great Pizza Quest, a months-long, expedition around the neighborhoods searching for an amazing pie at a fair price. Our search is over. Tomato and Basil is the one. I write this after 4 visits. Margarita pizza, a simple pie that has nowhere to hide. It demands top-tier ingredients. Theirs is absolutely superb. The crusts on the pizzas are delicious. The Di Parma has tender thin shaved prosciutto. We've ordered the Mushrooms and the Veggy and they totally hit the spot. One visit included a carnivorous friend. He demolished the Meatlovers. We have shared the Tres Colores salad and everyone raved about it. You can tell the proprietor takes serious pride in sourcing quality ingredients. The staff is friendly. We like sitting outside in the back and there is plenty of parking behind the restaurant. Yeah! We have officially secured our new Friday night pizza joint. read more

Great little restaurant in North Miami across from the Museum of Contemporary Art. Big selection of Pizza and even some pasta dishes, as well as Empanadas and Calzones. Good prices and specials. The pizza I had was delicious and I liked that you could even buy some by the slice. Nice selection of wines and beverages. Seating was simple but adequate with indoor and 2 outdoor areas, one in the front and back. Nicely decorated with a very attentive staff. read more

This was my second time coming here this week that's how good it is! I got the meatball sub again because I couldn't stop thinking about it, and it was just as amazing as the first time. This time, I place an order for pick up and realized they have the cutest little patio out back, which is perfect if you want to eat outside and enjoy the vibe. Inside is super cozy too. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. I also tried the house-made lemonade, and wow... SO good! Definitely one of my new favorite spots. read more

There's nothing like the comfort of a local pizza joint. You walk in, the smell of freshly baked crust fills the air, and you just know your taste buds are about to be taken on an adventure. The pizza? Hot, cheesy, and covered in toppings that may or may not be a little too much--but that's part of the charm. Each bite is like a mini celebration of carbs, cheese, and whatever toppings you decided to go with. The crust could be thin or thick (because why pick?), but it's always good, and probably a little greasy in the best possible way. Service? Usually laid-back--kind of the "we know we're serving you the best pizza, so we're gonna take our sweet time" vibe. But hey, the pizza's worth the wait. Would I return? Always. Because, at the end of the day, there's no such thing as a bad pizza day. read more

I ordered a pizza from Tomato and Basil tonight. From my first bite I knew this was not a franchise mass produced pizza. It tasted like the pizzas I remembered eating before the franchises became so popular. On Tuesday thru Thursday they have daily specials. Great pizza, service and taste. I will definitely be a regular customer! read more

I have been craving Pizza in Miami that fulfills my New York standards. Tried a few places and I was so disapointed. Literally stumbled upon Tomato and Basil and they delivered quality Pizza. Delicious light crust, tasty sauce and it ranks in my Top Five Margarita Pizza's. On top of that, the owners are friendly, warm and welcoming, just like they were in my home town of Amityville. Great food, great service and great people. I couldn't ask for more. Can't to come back and eat a full meal. You don't know what you're missing! Bon Appetit! read more

Randomly found this amazing g pizza spot just down the street from the MOCA museum. It's a bit of a hole in the wall but beautifully rustically decorated and the pizza is wood fired and fresh. My date and I split a medium spinach Gorgonzola white pizza and it's really hot the spot. Light and savory. The service was quick and attentive. We saw a few delivery orders go out and definolty understand why. The food was excellent! read more

Was working nearby and was able to walk here... they were able to immediately sit 6 of us, so that's a big plus! They first out out a cool presentation of bread 'nuggets' I guess, in a Cento tomatoes can.. and a side of a delicious olive tapenade spread. I ordered the empanadas and they came out hot and delicious. Staff was super friendly, and place was nice and clean. read more

I ordered Di Parma pizza to go which had arugula and prosciutto and let me tell you... this pizza was delicious. Screaming with flavor and I couldn't wait to get home because the aroma was killing me. It smelled soo good. The service was pretty fast. I got the medium for like $17 and change. Only thing is, it's a bit salty but other than that it was great. read more

After a couple of years not coming to Tomato and Basil, tonight I decided to give it a try again after a few friends were telling me that it was different... I am glad I did...the food and ambiance is totally different than two years ago...my last visit. As soon as I sat, hot bread nuggets came in to the table with a nice spread on the side. I had the eggplant lasagna. It is served in a onion soup bowl....really, really hot. Looks are deceiving, the portion was good enough size for me. It was DELICIOUS...! I could come back again and again and again ... I also ordered a Putanesca pizza to go and it was amazing as well... The waitress was very attentive and service was on point! In addition they are PET FRIENDLY!!! That is AMAZING! Will definitely go back and get some friends as well... read more

The family tasked me with finding a place to eat in the area and I found this place thanks to Yelp. I thought there was only street parking but they have parking in the back. The place is small but very inviting. Thursdays offered up $5 mimosa for the ladies so we obviously had to have a mimosa. We decided to split some pizzas and some had the chicken parm which was a very generous portion. They start you off with bread and an olive dip which was nice. And we ended with the nutella and dulce de leche crepes. Everything was wonderful- especially the service. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. MY fav pizza was the 4 cheese white pizza. read more

Hands down the best empanadas I have tried. Ive seen this place so many times but never venture to try it. Shame on mee! It was not busy, but the food was freshly made at the moment. A lot of take out, coming in and out, im guessing the location is not very attractive for clientele to come in and dine. Pizza was delicious! Too. Is the only place i have been ordering pizza lately. I do, recommend. read more

The olive dip that came with the free bread was super addictive. I think I could have a meal of just that. The gnocchi in pink sauce was delicious and creamy, and the lasagna was perfectly acidic and rich. The decor is adorable and every table has a different view. Our server was a sweet lady who made sure our glasses were always filled. read more

I love this place. The place is a hole in a wall but very cozy and cute. The food is also good. They have specials on weekdays. Then, why I took one star? It's very close to my work and I even had a party for my work. But when we went to the restaurant, the people at the restaurant didn't know that we were coming. We didn't have many people so we could put tables together quickly and enjoyed the food and conversation. I recommended this place to everyone at my work place but I wish the restaurant knew that we were coming. read more

Love everything about this place. From its excellent pizza and sandwiches to their great service.

The bestt obsessed with the mushroom empanadas here and the Pizza. Have tried almost everything and were never disappointed

This place is great! Service is friendly and easygoing. I've been here several times and the sandwiches and oven baked dishes are incredible (I'm looking at the cannelones). I've never had the pizza but it's quite popular with other customers. There's a beautiful mural on the interior and some other nice decorations. They always give squares of a soft, hot bread as a complimentary starter with what I believe is a strawberry vinaigrette. read more

Pizza was very solid. NYC style. Loved it and recommend them, especially if you're visiting from NY and are accustomed to the best thin crust pizza in the country (chicago obviously owns the deep dish). read more

The food was all delicious - pizza, empanadas, desserts all exceptional. Service was good and atmosphere was cool. Enjoyed with friends multiple times and always consistent. If you like meat or veggie pizza, both are great so we have them make the pizza 50/50. read more

The ambiance of this intimate pizzeria is beautiful. The entire back wall is nicely decorated with wooden wine crates, wine bottles and decor. There is a good amount of seating, but not good enough for a large party. The owner is very hospitable and does everything from bussing tables to serving to taking orders. I found it real refreshing. The wait time is a bit long. We ordered mid-afternoon on a weekday. Now, we ordered two 18' pizzas to go; margherita and sausage & mushroom. I can't lie, the pizza was good but not the best. The crust was fairly thin, tasted mehh, and tough; but the toppings made the pizza great. They also have this bread that you pull apart and dip in olive oil (can't remember the day). It wasn't so great either (my boss was raving about this place, so I just chucked it up to a bad dough day). So now on a separate day, I went back to get an empanada, which are made and placed in a display. Let's just say, stick to the pizza. Though they warm it up it was still cold and the taste was off. I'd still give this place another shot. read more
