Dr. Schauer put veneers on both upper and lower front teeth and did a crown on one of my back teeth. I have also had cleanings done by both hygenists that work there. He has now also done gum disease work on my father and my son had a tooth that came in backward (completely turned around) and Dr. Schauer took care of that, in addition to filling a couple of cavities for him. My whole extended family has now started coming to Dr. Schauer based on how incredible my teeth look and feel now and because his hygenists can clean without hurting at all - which is a first for me in going to dentists! First I saw the hygenist for a cleaning. When she realized that I had sensitivity to the water, she immediately changed her method and even though it took her a little longer, this was the first time in my adult life that I have had a good thorough cleaning without one bit of hurting! I cannot tell you how thrilled I was! Dr. Schauer then came in & did the checkup. He is so gentle in the way he handles you, and just a nice person. You can tell right away. He treats you like a intelligent person, tells you all your options and lets you make a decision about what is best for you. I had a crown done because one back tooth had been filled again and again through the years by a different doctor and each time they had taken a little more of the tooth away to fill it. Dr. Schauer didn't just say, ok, you need a crown. He took the time to explain to me that he could just fill it again, but the filling was so large what would eventually happen is the tooth would split and break and I would lose the entire tooth. He has this machine that magnifies the tooth to TV screen size. I didn't have to take his word for it. He could show me exactly what he was talking about as he explained it. I had him also do a set of veneers. Oh my gosh! They are incredible and truly made me look so much younger! I didn't realize that my teeth were making me look older. I just wanted my teeth to look better because they were yellowish rather than bright white and shaped kind of ugly rather than what you see on all the Hollywood people now. I had a set of veneers done years ago and thought those were pretty good until I saw the ones Dr. Schauer did! He is a true artist! I didn't think there was that much difference in dentists until I went to Dr. Schauer. Mine don't look all fake like some of those places do but they look as great as anyone in Hollywood I promise. He is truly, truly the best I have ever been to. I see those commercials for Clear Choice and other dentists and I never think they look good compared to Dr. Schauer's work on me. I just cannot say enough. He is nice, his prices are good, and someone told me that he even has some Hollywood type people fly in to see him, though I don't know this personally. Anyway, I think he is the greatest I have ever been to. My father was having trouble with his gums bleeding a lot every time he brushed his teeth. He came to Dr. Schauer and I don't know what they did, but he is very happy and sings the praises of Dr. Schauer now. My Mom had a bridge done by him and loves it! I have taken my son to him for all his dental work and he LOVES Dr. Schauer. It was through my son's work that I learned that there are oral surgeons in town that after they do oral surgery will recommend only Dr. Schauer to do the follow up dental work of rebuilding teeth on top of implants and stuff like that. My family and I have been patients of Dr Schauer's for about ten years. I've never been accused of having the greatest teeth in the world so I've gotten to know Dr Schauer and his staff a little too well during that time, but I've always been totally satisfied with the care they have provided us. The office staff is friendly, efficient, and caring; the hygienists (mainly Tim, in my case) are excellent; and I have complete confidence in Dr Schauer. I've needed several fillings, crowns, etc. over the years and, while I'm not the type who enjoys going to the dentist by any means, Dr Schauer has always made me as comfortable as possible during these procedures. I have to admit that I am consistently amazed at how "easy" these visits are - from my perspective. More importantly, he does excellent work and I've never had any type of problems afterwards. I have been a patient of Dr Schauer for a long time. I have always been very happy with them. Even when I moved over 40 minutes away, I still go to this dentist. It is hard to define all of the reasons I enjoy the office so much. It starts from the moment I step into the office, to the cleaning, and the exit again. When I walk into the office, they know who I am. They greet me, take care of any office business and then ask about my life. They always remember me. If is like we are lost friends meeting again after being apart. I am sure all of the hygienists are great. I actually only go to Tim. She takes care of all of my tooth health needs. She always gives me a little grief about flossing (she is always right about how much I floss). She cleans my teeth. She some how remembers that I do not like the polishing very much so she does it very quickly. She is great. I would recommend this office to anyone. I have actually sent several friends there. What a great dentist! I had to find a new dentist this year because the last place I went to sucked (Omni Dental). I found Dr. Schauer on the UHC website, checked him out on Yelp and liked what I saw. No one had anything bad to say about him. I went in to my new patient appointment about 1 week ago and things didn't go as smoothly on my part (insurance issues, I was late). The front desk staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure I was seen that day. I got to meet Dr. Schauer and his assistant and both were wonderful, very nice to talk to and very helpful. I went today to have a few cavities filled and I feel like I have new teeth. Dr. Schaeur did an outstanding job, he took time to explain to me his every move and when I was about to have a panic attack, he helped calm me down. I will never go to any other dentist office. We are brand new to Austin. Dr. Shauer DDS and his staff was referred to us by a neighbor. My first impression after making the call with the receptionist was that Dr. Shauer run's his business different that other dentists. There was a professionalism that I noticed.When I showed up for my first appointment, that professionalism was demonstrated by every staff member in the office! I felt like I was their first and only client to visit the office. The initial examination is the most thorough exam I had ever received. Dr. Shauer was able to carefully explain the problems that I had and the different options. that I could avail myself too. I just finished my fourth and final visit. I have probably been seeing Dr Schauer for 20 years. Tim, one of his Registered Dental Hygienists, for about as long. Dr. Schauer is a super-hero (so is Tim). I couldn't possibly say enough good things about them. Dr. Schauer over many visits corrected a lot of problems caused by years of poor care on my part. They are both very gentle and careful to not cause any pain. They got me to work with them to improve my at home care and have educated me about proper oral hygiene. The office and treatment rooms are immaculate. They follow good procedures to maintain sterile surfaces. The front office staff are competent and friendly. Actually warm and fuzzy! Even after I moved out of the neighborhood and out of network, I continue to drive all the way from Pflugerville to see them four times a year and pay the out of network costs. read more

Dr. Schauer has been my dentist for more than a decade. Besides routine cleaning I've had bonding, scaling, and a crown fitted. The molar which needed the crown was almost a candidate for a root canal but Dr. Schauer was able to save it. In addition to his skill and experience I feel Dr. Schauer went the extra mile to return my call when my son broke his tooth while on vacation. He explained what needed to be done until we returned to Austin and saw him immediately upon our return. There are other dentists closer to my home and perhaps some are as skilled as Dr. Schauer and his staff. I have no interest however in seeing if that statement is true. I have been a patient of Dr. Schauer for the past 4 years and I absolutely could not have found a better dentist. I see Tim, a dental hygienist, for my teeth cleaning every 6 months and look forward to it every time. She is great at her job and is such a great positive person to have in my day. Recently I had a terribly painful tooth infection and I could not handle the extreme pain. Without an appointment, I walked in asking for their help. My husband was a dentalphobic, due to childhood trauma with Army dentists. Dr. Schauer, and his wonderful team, made him feel so comfortable and at ease, that years of neglect were repaired.
