Erica, my hygienist, educated me on my gum health, and noticed signs of wear on my teeth due to clenching; which I imagine I do when I'm sleeping. Erica took photos of each tooth, measured my gums, and validated that my oral hygiene practices at home are on par. During my examination, we saw signs of decay, and there was enough time in the schedule for me to start the process of placing a crown on my tooth. From the moment Dr. James numbed me to the moment my temporary crown was placed, I was treated with the utmost care. The team remembered my son, who visited not too long ago, and were as joyful and relatable as can be. They even offered me a cozy blanket during my procedure! I mean, who does that? Pecan Park Family Dentistry does! All in all, though it was my first time at their practice, I was made to feel like family. Like I was being taken care of by my girlfriends, and I am beyond grateful to have crossed paths with them!

There is only one Dr. to choose from now but, they still have Dr. Wong in their vm system so, when I initially booked I thought I would have more than one option but, that's not the case. The link for their new patient paperwork didn't work and I never received a call from a hygienist. That was actually fine because I had actually forgotten my questions and figured I could just ask during my visit. The person I spoke to, Miranda while very sweet seemed flustered at all my questions on the phone and rushed me off deferring me to get a call back. I get it, the office was likely busy but ...don't offer a call back that you can't follow through on! I emailed back and forth a couple times regarding the call back within the span of a week's time and, after being told they were about to call that Friday morning and then they never did, I just let it go. Not that important. It seems like the best deal in town but, I started to think that maybe you get what you pay for and, while I'm sure the one Dentist here is very experienced and they stay very busy, I'd be concerned about the quality of care considering how they handled me on the phone. The second person I booked with was more patient and we I actually got confirmation texts and emails unlike the first attempt with Miranda. She also helped me cancel with no question or issue. I just can't take a gamble on my teeth no matter how tempting the pricing might be. I just found Austin Dental Spa. They offer Care Credit and have two very experienced Dentists (a male and a female option) so, they are my next stop to get my teeth the cleaning and care they deserve. Thanks, anyway Pecan Park! When asked why not, he replied, "I've never messed with it, there are all these people who claim their dogs are service animals when they really aren't." Dr. Augustine seemed totally ignorant of ADA regulations. I advised him to educate himself, fired him, and left. I was especially disappointed with Charlotte, his scheduler (who has invariably behaved professionally and with a smile in the past); she turned into a very poor version of herself... impatient, rude, argumentative & disrespectful... when I asked to speak with The Boss. An older, dark haired woman (waiting by the door to bring us back, and who I did not recognize), held my gaze with THE MOST hateful facial expression; if looks could kill, I'd be toast! Yeah, I find sheer ignorance of ADA regulations and resultant abuse of a patient's civil rights, to be less than attractive qualities in a dental practice.

I drove 40 minutes across town with my newborn for a scheduled dental cleaning, only to be told upon arrival that because I had not confirmed my appointment, they could no longer see me. What makes this even more frustrating is that I called ahead to let the office know I was running a few minutes late and asked if I should still come in. The receptionist assured me that it was fine and told me to come on in. When I arrived, however, I was informed that the dentist had already left for the day. I find it completely unacceptable that I was told to continue driving to the office only to be turned away after making the trip. I have never, in all my years as a patient, been told that appointments would be canceled if they were not confirmed. To make matters worse, I was told the office attempted to call me to cancel my appointment just two minutes before my scheduled appointment time. The lack of communication and professionalism from the front desk staff was extremely disappointing. It is also concerning that a patient with a scheduled appointment was effectively canceled on because the dentist chose to leave early. I cannot recommend this office based on the way I was treated today. There are many dental practices that value their patients' time and communicate far more professionally, and I would encourage others to consider those instead.

The next day during a follow up call from their office I told her about the broken tooth. The next week during my scheduled checkup, I reminded the doctor about the injured tooth and she made no attempt to examine it. Again, during my next scheduled visit 2 1/2 weeks later the tooth still wasn't examined. I felt this was very unprofessional and I had started losing trust and confidence in the doctor. I have been with a broken tooth for about a month now and can feel the gum around the tooth starting to swell. I also requested an itemized bill to show the billing codes and was made aware that the doctor billed me incorrectly twice. I was billed using the code 7210, which requires surgery opposed to the code 7140, which is a simple extraction. I called to dispute the charges but was told very rudely that the codes would not be changed and the charges were correct. At this point I lost all trust and confidence. I can only surmise this was done to me because I paid out of pocket and didn't use insurance. I have since obtained my dental records and have started to seek a doctor whom I feel is ethical and not just a salesperson wearing doctor scrubs.
