Dr. A was friendly and personable each time I saw her for my checkup and she also installed my second crown. John P. Dougherty, D.D.S., MAGD installed my first crown and during thought it was appropriate to make a racist joke about my New Mexican upbringing when he saw my x-rays and I mentioned I was born without wisdom teeth. If you're wondering what he said to me and in front of the tech when my mouth was numb, wide open and filled with tools: "It must be from all that inbreeding in New Mexico." I've always been under the impression that jokes are supposed to be funny. If he has the gall to say this while operating on a numb patient I can only image what "jokes" he has said when patients aren't around. If you'd like to know even more about Dr. Dougherty's character, the staff once told me he buys and resells Cybertrucks as a hobby. While I'm not a comedian, that joke writes itself. I didn't feel great leaving that day (despite my tooth issue finally being fixed) and let whomever answered the phone that afternoon know what happened. I didn't hear back at all from anyone, though Dr. A. did apologize next time I was in after I told her. The crown John P. Dougherty, D.D.S., MAGD installed that day lasted about 6 months before cracking and needing to be replaced, which he did (Dr. A was unavailable). Cut to eight months later and the crown cracked again and I've found myself using a new dentist office because John P. Dougherty, D.D.S., MAGD is more focused on his comedy career than his dental profession, neither of which he's very good at. I've had no issues with the crown Dr. A installed. If you're at all on the fence about Artistic Dental I'd recommend looking elsewhere, though I can't offer any tips on avoiding douchebag dentists with subpar skills. Maybe check how many Cybertrucks are in the parking lot.

Biltmore Commons has asked me to leave a review. I cannot in good faith say anything nice about…read morethis place. I am new to the area and was recommended to this practice. My old practice was a single dentist, a few dental assistants and a receptionist. You spend your entire visit with the dentist and he provides you an honest summary of your visit. The total visit is under a half hour. Biltmore Commons has 6 Dentists and at least that many dental hygienist and more dental assistants and receptionists. You spend the majority of your visit with your hygienist and about 2 minutes with the dentist. Because there is so much overhead you get a Spirit Airlines experience where you are constantly getting upsold nonsense. The hygienists are more like used car salesmen than people who clean your teeth. I have been to this place twice and they have tried selling me laser treatment ($100) night guards ($800), Invisilign, a Waterpick ($120), an additional cleaning, and they were going to try to sell me an electric toothbrush if I didn't already have one. The hygienists don't give up the entire visit until you say yes to something. The dentist never says you need any of these things. I never went through with any of these scams. And I will not be going to Biltmore Commons ever again. My first visit was 2 hours (with x-rays) and my second was almost an hour (without x-rays). I have a life and my time is not valued. My recommendation is to find a dentist with less overhead where they can pay for their practice with just regular dental work and not ancillary products.

It was literally the most thorough dental exam I've ever had, with digital X-rays (including the panos that my last dentist didn't do), CT scans if needed, lots of photos, a tooth-by-tooth evaluation, oral cancer screening, even looking at mobility, jaw movement, etc. (Finally my knowledge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle comes in handy.) Dr. Pappas even pointed out something I'd brought up to a different dentist years ago and had completely forgotten about. He's also very transparent about whether a treatment can wait or needs to be done right away. The hygienist I had was also very thorough, so I definitely felt like I was in good hands all around. I switched here after a decade at a different dental clinic that had been cutting a lot of corners. As someone without specialized knowledge, navigating dental care can be frustrating and time-consuming. I find it so frustrating--as someone with no real knowledge of dentistry--when I feel like I to have to spend time attempting to research what dentists or other doctors should be doing so I can make sure they actually do it, or to figure out what to do about pain or issues they dismiss or tell me to ignore. We all have enough things to worry about without trying to become amateur dental or medical researchers. So it's a breath of fresh air to go somewhere like Arcadia Dental Arts where I can just kick back and relax knowing they're covering all the bases. Also the office is really nice, and it's right near Lola Coffee. And they have a super cute new patient gift bag, which was a nice touch! Glad to have found a new dental home.

I explained this on my first call in to Brittany at the front desk. I then found out I have to wait a month due to office policy to see them. I then get a call 1 day before my appointment that I was not setup yet. I explained again I don't understand hmo well and they stated I needed to call my insurance. Then waited a month to find out the day off still not moved and then I put them and insurance on a 3 way call. I was already setup but they didn't have me on the registration list. The insurance company explained this was the office not them. This was my first red flag. I am excited a few months in to get a cleaning finally I thought. Nope, I get 1.5 hours of xrays and scans. They state I have no cavities but my gums are having issues and need my root canal tooth rescanded and need a deep cleaning (even though i had a cleaning 4 months ago and 12 years no cavities). I have a 2 week trip to Netherlands coming and explained this but go to get the recommended scan of my tooth that cost me 200$ out of pocket and no cleaning still. This is the last I speak to a human and next six times I call in I get a text message back and will attach the screenshot of some of it. Over and over told I will get a call back due to questions about the cleaning and future work. I am in shock after trying to talk to a human for 3 weeks they only call me on time after I told them I was going to travel at 3 am local time there to leave a voicemail. I then called back that day 3 times and never got through. Then called and texted when I got home for 3 days in a row. This is a ton of calling and texts about something I explained I have anxiety about to get no response. I travel alot for work and don't have time for an office that can't make me a priority. I now have to start over next month with new dentist after my next trip. Ps I know they have a service that will respond to this message with "sorry for your experience and we apologize for the inconvenience " just like they did when I was calling over and over ro get help.

Despite clearly stating multiple times that I was not there for a cleaning or full exam (and that I have no history of recent cavities) I was still encouraged to proceed with a full mouth series (FMX). I explained that I had already completed one within the past two years and even offered to provide those records. However, I ultimately felt pressured into repeating the imaging. From my understanding, ADA guidelines generally recommend full mouth series every 3-5 years in the absence of clinical concerns, which made this recommendation feel unnecessary and not aligned with standard practice. I am particularly concerned about being exposed to additional radiation that did not seem clinically indicated based on my reason for the visit. This contributed to the overall impression of a bait andswitch experience. I'm glad I declined the CT scan, as that felt excessive in my situation, but I remain frustrated about the imaging that was already completed. Additionally, communication within the office was inconsistent. The hygienist who performed my testing told me my results could be reviewed over the phone, but I was later told by another staff member that this was not an option and that I would need to return in person for a consultation. Overall, the experience felt unnecessarily pressured and disjointed. I will not be returning
