**I don't normally write reviews, but I'm writing this to say do NOT rent from Alamo. My husband and I were scammed and have been fighting with them for a month. They finally told us we were not liable, and they have been unreachable since. We have not received our deposit back after a month after a dispute over a claim they did NOT inspect before we received the car, and Alamo treated us terribly and automatically assumed we were guilty for something we did not do. Ithas been impossible to reach Stuart Blalock (assistant manager) and Mike Hughes (area manager) regarding this. **
On June 6th I rented a car with Alamo in Gainesville to drive to Orlando. My husband and I only had the car for one day and turned the car back into the exact same location in Gainesville. We left the car in perfect condition, but noticed after we picked up the car that it was missing two of the door panels.
After we turned the car back in, we immediately received an email regarding a claim being issued regarding the missing door panels. We called Alamo right away and they told us it was out fault, that they did not see any claim issued before the car therefore it was automatically out fault. This tells me they do not inspect the cars before giving them to new customers. After about a week and constant phone call arguments, one employee finally reached out to us to tell us they remembered that specific car and remembered the door panels missing before we received the car. After he finally confirmed it, the assistant manager Stuart Blalock told us it was NOT our fault and that our deposit would be returned within 7 days.
It's been a month now, I've emailed the area manager Mike Hughes twice who has never replied to me. I've also emailed the assistant manager Stuart Blalock who told me that there was nothing they could do at this point and instructed us to contact our bank. Our bank has told us numerous times that they are still waiting for Alamo on our end, and to keep contacting us.
To this point, we have yet to receive any help from the agency. We tried calling claims, after calling claims they tell us that apparently everything is done on their end.
We are two broke college students, so $200 is a big deal. We've used Alamo several times in the last year and never had any problems such as this. But still, after this experience, we will not be using them again and do not recommend them after this hassle and loss of money for absolutely no reason. read more
