    Went to Apple's North Star Mall location to get an issue resolved, verify coverage on devices and…read morepurchase a product. First employee we were in contact with told us another employee would help us. This employee pointed in the general direction of the second employee so we walked toward the pointed-at direction and asked employees if their name was "xxx" until we found the right one. We explained what we needed and this employee advised they could assist with product purchase only. Product was purchased so now we need someone to assist with the issues needing resolution. Second employee refers us back to first employee. We get same response......"Here, this employee will help you". Third employee immediately introduces themselves and you can tell they are not only LISTENING to the issues but WANTs to resolve them. (There IS difference between hearing and listening). It didn't take long at all before the issues were resolved and we were on our way out the door.

    Traded in very old iPad for iPad Air at the Apple Store. Did not notice until I got home that they…read moresold me a different one than I asked for. Went back to the store to exchange. Long ordeal (again) transferring info. Asked for password so I had to get the password from home and call them. Password would not work. I called Apple Support. Since I exchanged a new iPad Air for another iPad Air, my info has not transferred. Told me I have to wait at least 72 hrs for them to reset password. So now I have a very expensive paperweight. Their paperwork said I exchanged because I did not like the one I bought. NOT TRUE. I exchanged because they sold me a different one that I ordered which caused me to exchange.

    Help in the Time of Crisis!…read more On a recent business trip I had the horrible experience of having my external hard drive becoming unreadable/corrupted! Not knowing any better, I made an appointment with the "Geek Squad" at Best Buy, who qouted me $500-$2000 for an "advanced repair ATTEMPT"?!?!!? Distraught, I came to Altex and was quickly greeted by Matt and the store manager Jacob Wiese. Explaining my problem, they offered to attempt repair for a nominal charge- how reassuring! Jacob broke down the concepts of disc drives and solid state drives into terms I could understand [thank you!] - so I immediately purchased a new portable solid state drive. I left my "broken" hard drive with them- feeling much more confident in their skills. Within 2 days they called to inform me they were able to access the data and transfer it to the new SSD! While I am impressed with their technical expertise, I am MORE grateful for their kind, patient, customer-friendly demeanor- helping those of us who are novices and helplessly lost. My job as a professional nurse has been to help explain medical terms/procedures to patients who are confused and anxious. What a wonderful experience to meet computer professionals who are willing to help do the same thing when an anxious customer comes in.
