10/10 experience at this location, from the prep days up until post care. I called multiple times with questions, and the receptionist was so helpful and understanding. Although the waiting room is small, that's the only downside. But once you're in the back the nursing staff, pre-op, anesthesiologist and everyone were absolutely amazing and made the process so swift. They knew I was nervous about the whole process, and were extra nice and accommodating. Not that I ever want to go back, but if I had to or take a minor or an elder I would def recommend this location. Everything was clean, quick and easy.e read more

Very poor patient care. Office staff are unable to provide patient updates during procedures, staff shouting at family members they need to leave the waiting area (the policy is fine, but most family members would preferred to at least wait until their loved one has been taken back.) They also tend to over schedule significantly so don't count on timely appointments. If you have other options, I'd strongly encourage an alternate surgery center for your medical needs. read more

I got a bill, and paid it, and now I'm getting a second bill that's hand written that says I owe more. I'm trying to contact them to ensure this is real, but all week I've not been able to get a hold of them. I've called at different times on different days, and their phone normally rings without answer, or a voicemail message saying it's after hours and it's 1:15 PM. I can't leave a message since the voicemail box is full. I'm not sure what else to do besides going there in person. The surgery was fine, but trying to get a hold of them is impossible. When I was in the office the front desk person was rude, but assumed she was just having a bad day. Maybe it's a sign of a bigger issue in their office. read more

Got a colonoscopy done woke up mid procedure because i was in pain. No one came to apologize because of what happened. I called the next day because it was so unprofessional the manager told me that my body is probably used to the drug thats why i woke up . But isnt someone supposed to be monitoring you while you're sedated? So unprofessional and traumatic experience that i hope NO ONE ever has to go through that . read more

On arrival told I needed to pay $3,700 additional for the surgery... no one could have called me ahead of time about this? Clearly they had my number and all of my information. I felt like I was being held hostage, I had waited months on scheduling and had to get the surgery done. Oh, later on they would also send me a bill for an additional $900. My insurance is not the best, I wouldn't leave one-star for that, but: In the waiting room 2h 40m never being told once any information. Every time I'd ask if they knew how long it would be or what was happening all I would just get is "they are working on getting your bed ready, have a seat." 2h 40m! As if that's not long enough.. the day of surgery you are not allowed to eat or drink even water. I don't mind fasting but being completely dehydrated in a waiting room for 2h 40m (!!) is just miserable. No apologies, no one checking in. All that aside my surgeon Dr. Lee is great and the surgery went well but I would never go back to this place. read more

today/4-8-2024, i had my colonoscopy!!! it was a wonderful, painless and fastest surgical procedure i have ever had!! thank you thank you thank you!!! i was apprehensive in getting my second colonoscopy (today), but decided to proceed. i am so happy with this surgery center. i highly recommend it and the staff and doctor are the absolute best!! the staff were fantastic, professional, kind and wonderful: julia, reception person heather, check-in nurse malanesia (sp), nurse john, anesthesiologist dr. d. alexanian, gastroenterologist carisa, recovery nurse (anyone i missed, sorry) i was in and out so fast...this surgical procedure was the best overall medical environment i've ever been in!! i am so very happy, afterwards...and feel absolute euphoric! come here...you will be well taken care of!! much appreciation!! read more

Alameda Surgery Center - Surgeons Near Me - Burbank, California

We Burbankers don't like to brag, but even our colonoscopy facilities are five stars. If you must submit to this dreaded test (super small camera up the butt to check for colon cancer), I recommend this place highly (as well as my doc, Dr. Schulman, who along with his partners, owns the facility as well). What can I say? Don't hate the player. Hate the game. The facility is located in one of those medical buildings across from Burbank's St. Joseph hospital. Parking lots abound, but save your $$$ for post-test treats -- tons of free street parking on the side streets or on Olive just north of the building. Burbank is the city without even one parking meter! Check-in is a breeze, though I was asked to pay my deductible in advance -- $200. Another facility I looked into had the same deductible-in-advance policy, but they wanted $1,000! Inside, it's super clean and you get two nurses assigned to you. Everyone gets a nice gown, socks and a hair net. A nurse starts an IV (for twilight sleep) and in you go to a mini surgery room with the camera machine and a big monitor. Five seconds after my doctor greeted me, I woke up back in the recovery area -- I had no idea that the procedure was over! You get your result before you go (I was cancer free) and then it's back home to crash for the rest of the day, $200 poorer but healthy. Don't neglect the colon! read more

It's always the staff in a business that make or break its level of success. I visited ASC earlier this week for a routine colonoscopy. Because of the fasting on top of the "preparation" which causes extreme "D" and a 1pm appointment, when I checked in, I had a blinding headache. There was about a 20 minute delay and I was set up and ready to go but was directly under a searing fluorescent overhead light which felt like it was drilling a hole in my head. I finally just used the pillow and covered my head. The bay was entirely enclosed by pull-curtains but a nurse noticed the pillow, came in, turned up the hydration IV drip I had going, dimmed the overhead light, and was absolutely lovely. I felt like a human and not just patient #29 of the 35 they would see that day. Karina's kindness inspired this review and she made my day a little brighter. Thanks Karina. Tim read more

I have had colonoscopies done at this center before and the place and staff have always been great. I had not been back in four years and yesterday, I was scheduled for the procedure again. This time I noticed that the center had undergone a big remodeling, more modern, more patients, more staff, but the care has been the same. Staff is knowledgeable, caring, efficient. Okay, the entire medical staff is so friendly and lovely. It was such a treat to be around people like this (especially since my in person experience has been limited during COVID). Everyone was great and made me feel comfortable. The only reason I'm giving three stars is because I just received my bills and it looks like they didn't apply my initial co-pay of $680 towards my insurance. My deductible is only $550 so it would have been met. The two bills I received are on my insurance website as claims however the initial bill is not so my insurance applied the $550 deductible between these two claims. I saw down below the complaints regarding billing so once this is resolved, I will adjust my rating to 5 stars (because the staff is seriously wonderful). UPDATE: Spoke with Dawn today and she cleared everything up. The bills came from the lab and doc but she is processing my refund which is great. I guess she seems rough around the edges but it's probably just because she deals with bills and people freaking out about them all day. She was very helpful regardless. read more

Never ever EVER going here again, This company took our money at sign in and then never submitted a claim to the insurance company. It took them 3 months and still the claim was incomplete and I asked 4 x to refund my credit card and to bill me once you knew the correct amount I would owe and I was told over and over and over let's wait and see once the claim is submitted, Is this your first time submitting. It took you 3-4 times to submit. The Dr's claim came in within 1 week but you kept my money hostage and now I owe NOTHING ABSOULTLY NOTHING and you still won't refund me so who is going to pay the interest on my credit card that I never owed. GO somewhere else since money is more important than doing the right thing. read more

I was shocked to discover this facility doesn't have a Covid mask mandate. It's a surgical center. I would think you'd try to keep the environment as safe as possible. I was disappointed that our well-being and safety weren't taken into consideration. You must alert patients long before their procedure so they have the option to go elsewhere. I had no warning. The waiting area did not look clean or inviting. And inside, it didn't seem entirely clean. And the nurse that was overseeing me post-procedure was basically shoving me out the door. I was unusually drowsy from the anesthesia and kept falling asleep. She did everything but slap me awake, and she had me get dressed when I was barely coherent. I felt unsafe and uncared for in the process. I had to navigate an elevator and walk to a car when barely awake. Talk about a liability risk. Crazy! At Providence St. Joseph, where I had my last two procedures, they wheeled me outside for pickup and helped me to the vehicle. I will never return to Alameda Surgical Center, and I will shout it from the rooftops. Next time, St. Joseph's! read more

my Initial nurse was very nice and my anesthetic nurse was nice. This place is a bit of a conveyor belt. I get it - they are busy, they have a lot going on. BUT before the drugs for my colonoscopy wore off, I was roused, told to get dressed and walk to a waiting room. I had no idea what was going on. Other friends who have had colonoscopies at other centers describe a very different experience - one where you wake up in your roughly your own time. Mind you, I was only under for about an hour and fifteen minutes. This is not ok.The nurses also discuss your condition in the waiting room where other patients are sitting. read more

Thus far, I've had two visits to this facility--one for a physician-recommended Colonoscopy, the other for an exploratory Endoscopy. On both occasions, the staff have been wonderful. As grumpy as I may come across to them (filling out paperwork, changing into a backwards gown, getting poked with a needle and having a scope inserted into one's orifice), they have always been kind and accommodating. As such, if you have a choice in selecting a location for outpatient surgery, I would definitely recommend this one. read more

I saw Dr. Fisher for a colonoscopy endoscopy procedure. Everything from the initial consultation with his office along with the day of, the process was extremely easy and comfortable. The day of, his staff was so professional and comforting. It was a great experience even though it was an invasive procedure but his staff made you feel relaxed and at home. There comes a time in everyones life when they are well neigh commanded by their GP to get a Colonoscopy. You know the one: almost two days of fasting followed by a horrific evacuating of the bowels prompted by some foul tasting elixir that you must ingest twice in 12 hours so as to do the trick. And believe me: THE trick it does! My Colo procedure was done here by one Benedict Garrett (is that a cool name or what?) but more than ably assisted by several other people: Donna (who briefed me over the phone on the impending procedure) as well as "Tree" (?) who did all of the final dispensing of information as well as checking vitals and making me feel comfortable. Then there were those in the colo room as in Merissa and the Anestheologist (John) who were friendly and informative and who couldn't have been nicer. Miss Donna also did the post op dispensing info on what to expect after the procedures. Dr Garrett was likewise open with the information about the procedures (i actually had 2: colonoscopy and endoscopy) and fast and precise. All in all, though i really hesitate to call it a terrific experience full of fun and good cheer, i can say it was i'm assuming the best experience of this nature that i could have had, anywhere. The staff and doctor are empathetic enough to know that this procedure is neither glamourous nor entertaining though important and necessary it definitely is. And the staff worked towards making me feel as much at ease as is possible. It seems that over the last 5 years we have been witnessing a revolution in the fundamental nature of the sharing and dispensing of information between Doctors and their patients. I remember a time when you were looked at askance if you questioned a doctor pretty much about anything. And the doctors of yore actually sharing via a portal all of the information a doctor has on you?? A Doctor consulting with you with a laptop in hand dispensing info on your blood work? My old school physician who recently retired led me to a GP of the, what i will call, the new Generation of doctors. On a more humorous note (and only can i appreciate it now that the procedure is done) i was presented with a "menu" of sedation compunds from which i could choose one to put me under. The Anesthesiologist made his suggestion of course but i could have chosen anyone i wanted. Really? Loved that! This is a Revolution that i can get behind though at first i was without a doubt taken aback. But i'm getting used to it really quickly. read more

Whatever you do when arriving at this location, DON'T arrive early LOL! In most other cases, if you are early to an appointment, they welcome this but here, it is a No-No! There were two ladies working the check in counter. It felt like one was training the other. The trainer was the one who checked me in and wasn't friendly at all. Gave me attitude because I was early. The rest of the staff is awesome no complaints there! Of course my Doctor was great too. The pre, during, and after care is on point. The staff was respectful. The care that I received was perfect. Not only was I treated with respect, but my conditions were acknowledged. The type of care was very professional. My one complaint that I do have is their billing department. Their system is very ARCHAIC! They mail you out a bill and expect you to write down your card information (running the risk of mail being lost or stolen and now people have your card information. Not to mention what do they do with the paper after they receive it?) You can can also mail them a check (who has checks now a days?). Or you can call them and tell them over your phone your card information (running the risk of your information being stolen or not properly disposed of after they use it). We are in 2023, I hope that this location has an online portal set up to pay bills in 10 years when I come back for my next colonoscopy! read more

The ENTIRE staff here was fantastic from start to finish. Dr K and his team especially have amazing bedside manners that you don't see very often in the medical world anymore. I had to go here for a biopsy procedure at 12:30pm. I got there early so I could get the paperwork done. I got checked in and went to the back area to get prepped. The people that work there are very friendly and attentive. I was put into a reclining chair and IV'd. They did check on me while I was waiting to make sure I was okay. The person in the bed next to me was having the same procedure and actually took the same type of medicine as me, must be same age. I got the procedure and my friend picked me up. They called me today to make sure I was okay. Great staff. read more

Yesterday, 08/14/2024, I had an Endoscopy & Colonoscopy at Alameda Surgery Center, and I want to say how happy I was with everyone there. I arrived at the checkin time and was given paperwork to fill out. Soon after a nurse named Lucy came to get me and bring me to another room. I don't remember everyones name that helped me, but everyone was WONDERFUL!! They were very busy, but yet everything went by timely & smoothly. The anesthesiologist was very nice & funny, I believe his name was John, I hope that's right. There was another nurse there named Carenna who was also very nice and helpful, but everyone was AWESOME. My doctor, Dr. Kuritzkes, was in the room waiting for me to get prepped and they had some nice music playing, making you feel comfortable. This was a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!! I recommend Alameda Surgery Center for any procedures and I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Richard Kuritzkes as a Gastroenterologist!! Thank you once again to all the nurses & staff!!! read more

Alameda Surgery Center is a world-class facility. From the moment you walk in, you're confronted with the best customer/patient service available. Not only this, the facility is immaculate. I was treated with the utmost respect and consideration. When you're somewhat nervous about having a procedure, to be treated in this manner alleviates most of your concern and allows you to concentrate on the outcome. I have had two procedures at the Alameda Surgery Center and both times, I have had an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked into the facility until I left, I met with caring, skillful, and knowledgeable individuals. Everyone could not be kinder. After anxiously putting off a colonoscopy for years, I finally agreed and I couldn't have gone to a better place to have it done. Everyone I encountered - from the front desk person to the pre-op and post op nurses, the nurse-anesthetist, and of course, Dr. Kuritzkes - everyone was outstanding in performance of their duties. I didn't even feel the slightest pinch getting the IV started. They're THAT good. I felt cared for, informed and comforted at every turn. There were no unpleasant surprises and it was a completely stress-free experience. Had colonoscopy in March - they say wait 14 days for results , when you call nobody answers in the records dept #5; so you leave a message you are waiting for results , no reply so you call again a week later and s/w Angie, she says "she" will call you back in 24 hours, no reply you wait week call again and s/w Angie now this time she tells you "she can't tell you the results but the Dr has to call , but not the Dr( Shulman) who treated you but the head Dr ( Fischer) so I am still waiting . What a terrible experience to go thru when 1-people hate this worse than the dentist, 2- It's your second time and they say they got some polyps 3 - your waiting for the results and all you can think of is the worst case scenario and Angie treats you like it's all your fault for asking her for status - terrible place if you have concerns about lab results. It puts into question what they professionally do while you are under. Think very hard if you want to be treated like a # that they don't care about. read more
