The website link for the office advertised a cleaning alongside the X-rays but instead I was given a quote on a deep cleaning. A deep cleaning would be nice but I wanted the cleaning along with the X-rays. I would have paid a bit more for a basic cleaning and now I'm left trying to find someone else. All they did was X-rays and some scans before quoting me almost 10k for work. My biggest issue is that every dentist before told me I was perfectly fine to keep my wisdom teeth yet suddenly this place is going over so many reasons I need this expensive work done. I recently went to this dental clinic. The people are fine it's the Enron math accounting. I went for one root canal and crown the total cost is $1828 my insurance covers $2000 to be used like cash not based on procedure annually. They requested an additional $631 out of pocket from me. I contacted my insurance company who in turn contacted them and tried to explain my dental coverage and also told them to submit a authorization claim of they are concerned about receiving the $1898. I just received a call from Chelsea who was passively aggressively telling me about how I just don't understand how it works and asking why would I contact the insurance company about them. She then said they will no longer be seeing me as a patient and I had no plan of returning anyway and only went because they are in network. In short, please be careful when dealing with this dental clinic financially. They are trumping up the charges to submit to your insurance company and get upset when you question there accounting practices. I understand for traditional insurance they only pay up to a certain amount and in my case they would of paid the total amount of the procedure if they would not have inflated the charges of the procedure from $1898 to $3598. There are some other very good dentists in the valley that do not try to inflate charges on their patients with insurance. Most dentists offices will right off any amount that falls above the customary cash rate, not this place. They are greedy and just want all the money. Got a quote to have my teeth fixed. $23,000 more than any other dentist. The dentist shamed me for being fearful of the dentist and told me I should alway wear a mask. I was in this dentist multiple times and they never once remembered me. Bedside manner is non existent and they only want every penny from you. I will note I did never feel unsafe and the doctors were very educated but all they want is money and did not actually care about me as a patient. read more

I have been here twice, the staff is pleasant and attentive. To me that is where the service goes away. I went here a few weeks ago because I lost a crown, well they took exray's and then sent me on my way with a very expensive estimate. Thank goodness I was not in pain. The Thursday January 27, I have an infected tooth under my crown. Even though I told them how pain I was in. Yep you guess it, took exray's, a prescription for penicillin gave me another very expensive estimate and sent me on my way. I spent the last few days in so much pain. I hadn't been to a dentist In 3 years and their response to the condition of my teeth was not helpful. I recognize with them bringing bad news about the condition of my teeth is not easy news, but they conveyed the information in a unsettling tone of voice. I went to the office to get help, not to get judged for not flossing 2x a day. I feel lousier about my dental care than I did before the visit. It took me a couple of years to find a good, honest dentist that I felt like I could trust. I was referred here from an old coworker a few years ago and I've referred several others since. I've never felt like I was being taken advantage of as far as cost/unnecessary services go and I'm very much a stickler when it comes to my budget and making sure I'm only being charged for what I agreed to. unethical. Greedy and lazy. made an appointment after my son's crown came off, and I needed to have it put back on. They had not made the original crown, but I had chosen to switch dentists after having several restorations done by his childhood dentist fail. At my visit Dr Lee said she did not feel comfortable putting the original crown back on because it was not well made. I asked to have a new crown made, but she said I needed to return to my old dentist. It did not make sense to go back to the dentist from my childhood who has had multiple crowns fail. She said I needed to see my original dentist, but she could glue the crown back in place with temporary glue. They charged me $186 for "palliative care" but refused to do a permanent repair. Their plan was to go back to the dentist I had left because of this and other similar problems. Temporary glue for crowns is $7 at CVS. When I let them know it was not reasonable to ask me to go back where my crown was not well done they said they wanted to save me money, yet they charged me $186 for no real help. I am happy to pay if they did a repair with the permanent cement. I'm happy to pay their standard price if they make a new crown that is better than the original. The option they offered was to pay $186 for nothing but temporary glue I could have done myself. TLDR: Dr Lee did not want to fix the problem, but did demand $186 for the temporary glue ($7 at CVS). Dr. Lee has been my primary DMD for over a year now and it's never been a headache to get to quality dental care. It's easy to set up appointments and the entire staff is very personable and professional. I recently had a filling that was done by the office crack and come loose- They were able to get me a next day appointment and the fix was done at no cost to me (per their office policy, not my insurance). Ive seen lots of different hygienists and dentists here and all have been kind and done great work. All the fillings I've had done have been pretty painless and efficient. a minute ago Be weary, keep an eye on your ledger and insurance claims! I've been going to this place for 4+ years. I liked it because it was always clean and timely. Most of the staff treats the client's well! Unfortunately, today I received a bill from them for a service I had done 11 months ago, Dec 2018. I was confused as to why I was just now hearing about this considering I had additional services after and it was never brought to my attention. I had 2 insurance providers, so I was under the impression they had taken care of everything and I was in good standing. Today, Oct 2019, I called Alameda Dental and spoke with Barbara Flickinger who was incredibly RUDE! I had never experienced this type of unprofessional customer service from this place before. When I asked about the discrepancies on my account she said "you didn't call your insurance company like you should have." I explained to her that no one had notified me that I needed to do so and she said "well it says it in the notes" so I asked her what could I do to resolve it now and she told me "nothing, this is what you owe, it's your responsibility." At this point I was frustrated and expressed my frustration. Clearly someone had dropped the ball on communication but all of a sudden it was my responsibility, 11 months later. I was not rude to her, but was trying to find an explanation and a resolution... She HUNG UP ON ME!!! If you do not want to assist with client issues, don't work in a client centric business/position. I called back and asked to speak with a manager and I got to speak to Suzanne who was incredibly helpful and patient/diligent in helping me resolve my account issues, she let me know that I needed to call my insurance company and provide them with information... So, I called my insurance company and they told me they had denied my claim because Alameda Dental care had not sent over supporting documents for proof of provided service (x-rays, chart, etc.). They didn't actually need anything from me, and they called the dentist's office for me to let them know exactly what they needed. I followed up with Suzanne and she was very helpful, she resubmitted the claim and everything else that was needed. I have no idea where the miscommunication happened regarding what was needed for my insurance claims or who is actually responsible, but it is a sign of negligence. Which is very concerning as a client. I have no idea how long this had been going on for, or if any of my past services were billed correctly. I feel like I cannot trust them as a client because they did not do their due diligence but instead, pinned everything on me. This was also my first time experiencing bad customer service with them, but I believe Barbara told me she has only been working there for 2 weeks. I have been searching for a nice, down-to-earth dental practice since I moved to the valley 5 years ago and I think I found it with Alameda Dental Care! My first dentist was barely scraping by and I felt like they were pushing extra procedures on me to keep the lights on. My next dentist had 2 TVs in every room and had remolded his waiting room to look like a Vegas casino. Every time I went in I felt like my bill got larger and larger. My friend recommended this practice and during my first appointment I felt so comfortable talking to the hygienist and the dentist I knew that I had found what I had been looking for. I have this irrational fear that my teeth are going to fall out at any moment and they were so nice about all my crazy questions. I even compared the rates for the same recommended procedures to my previous dentist and Alameda Dental Care was about 25% cheaper than them. AND ADC is in my insurance network and my last dentist wasn't, and never bothered to tell me (which is partially my fault for not checking, but also annoying) I have now had an extensive consultation and two deep cleaning sessions done at Alameda Dental Care and all my visits have been great. I haven't had to wait too long and everyone is so friendly. I highly recommend them to all yelpers! read more

Amazing! I hadn't gone to the dentist in a very long time out of fear, until I had a dental emergency. After my initial visit, which solved my problem I continued to go back and see Dr. Nelson. He and the staff took the time to explain EVERYTHING to me before it happened, ran numbers by me prior to pulling out any tools, and showed real respect for me and my anxiety at every turn. I'm such a fan (and no longer afraid of the dentist) that I will be driving back from California just for my dentist. read more

I came here for a cleaning and prior to my pre-cleaning check up, I made it clear my insurance fully covered basic preventative care and I didn't want any work done that does not fall into that category. They said a regular cleaning would be covered and they would call my insurance to confirm benefits. I called day of my appointment to check if they called the insurance, they told me they did call and confirmed my appointment was fully covered. After the check up I was told if my mouth bled a lot during the cleaning it would be considered a different type of cleaning that was not fully covered by my insurance. I wasn't comfortable with that being decided after the fact so I canceled the cleaning appointment, but wasn't upset at this point. Few weeks later I get a bill for x-rays my insurance didn't cover. The dental office took x-rays called periapical that were not necessary, and therefore not included in basic preventative care, without informing me. I called to ask why they did this, they said these were standard x-rays. I asked the next dentist I went to about this and was told those x-rays are for when there is a concern with specific teeth. Still, even if these were standard, I was explicitly told the office checked with my insurance to make sure everything was covered. The office told me my insurance never sent them the full benefits so they had no way of knowing. Why was I told they confirmed my coverage if my insurance didn't provide full info? I don't know. I'm not sure if this situation was due to ill-intent or not but either way, I would avoid them. read more

Booking appointment with this place was fairly good for me. I didn't have a terrible experience ever. I can call in to book or email to book and they respond very quickly. So brownie points on that. My very first appointment with them was at 8AM. I came in at 745am because they said to come in 15 mins early. No problem. Waited and waited and became 9AM! I came to tell them and they apologized but they're running late. Anyways 9:20 they took my x-ray and I told them that my previous dentist told me to get deep cleaning but I was not free at the time so I refused the service and came here to request for a deep cleaning. Of course they said yes (more money for them and they didn't have to force me into getting one). I had to come two separate days because they can only deep clean one side at a time. Fine. I'll deal with that so that's a total of 3 appointments in a couple of weeks. Then they told me I have to come back every month for check up. No thanks. Ill see ya next time. Less than a year later I came back for a regular cleaning. Booked an appointment at 10 and then didn't get to my seat until 1020. They took my X-ray again and then proceeded to check out my gum. Then told me I need deep cleaning. I was like, are you kidding me? I already had deep cleaning with you guys not even a year ago. I brush my teeth twice a day and I floss everyday. My gums do not bleed and again, I JUST had deep cleaning last year. The hygienist told me that they will not regular clean my teeth, that's illegal. Okay, I get the part where I should get a deep clean when I need it. But I got it with them not even a year ago. Am I supposed to get it every single year cuz I don't think that's normal! So basically I just wasted my time coming here for them to tell me they refuse to clean my teeth unless I come back to do a deep cleaning. Even if I need a deep cleaning I will NOT COME BACK TO YOU BECAUSE YOU DEEP CLEANED MY MOUTH ALREADY AND YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT IN LESS THAN A YEAR I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN. No thanks, bye. Hmmmm...the reviews seem to run to extremes, 5 and 1. From my initial visit, the staff are personable and respectable. They recognize that my awareness of my dental condition (had LOTS of work done because of an auto accident 28 years ago, and it is time to update), and were not overly aggressive on the initial evaluation. The underlying work to deep-clean teeth, replace a crown and fill 2 cavaties for about $600 after insurance seems appropriate. They have also offered to complete all the work in about 3 weeks. Called to confirm my annual 6month appt, ....and have my filling repaired again bc their composite resin is garbage and won't last, only to find out I can't JUST have my teeth cleaned like I have fir the last 10 years. I have since had a baby which had put me in between insurance companies and I refuse to pay $300+ for xray and cleaning, so I asked to just have the cleaning.. they can't, they wont.. their a greedy, unprofessional company that lacks business ethics. I used to love this establishment. Then I was laid off and no longer had Dental Coverage. They were not understanding as to why I didn't see dental care as an essential expense (i had 3 years of cleanings and xrays at that point and there were no concerns) and they recently have started cold calling trying to remind me of an appointment i never made. Honestly my first visit to this office was fine. Care was fine and they offered to shave down a chip that I had in my front tooth. Told me the price before getting it done, then the bill comes in a few months later..... three to four times as much as I was told it would be. The issue was resolved but that should have been a red flag for me. Second visit was just a routine clean. The dentist (a man) that I saw barely spoken and did not even introduce himself to me before roughly working on my teeth. I mentioned beforehand that I was having issues with sensitivity. He began working on my teeth so roughly that I was in observable, physical pain. He stuck my gums with the tools so many times I thought I was going to need a blood transfusion and he left the suction tool on my lower gums for so long I have a sore. He did not address my concerns about sensitivity and sent me on my way with a goodbye, some sensodyne, and a throbbing, bleeding, painful mouth. Needless to say I will not be returning and I'd implore you to find a more reputable dentist. read more

I came here for a total of 3 appointments I believe over the span of 1 year. Twice for cleanings and once for a filling. I had never once had a cavity and needed a filling in my adult teeth. The first appointment I ever had with them, they said I had one cavity needing to be filled and a few that needed to be watched. I didn't think anything of it because it had been a little over a year since I had a cleaning because I didn't have dental insurance for a short time. Then my following cleaning 6 months later, Dr. Lee, told me I needed 3 fillings and they were watching like 4 more spots. I thought this was strange considering I had only had the one cavity ever and I took care of my teeth better than I ever had before. So I got a second opinion from Peach Tree Dental in Queen Creek (they didn't charge me for this which was awesome) and they said I didn't need any fillings. This was 6 months ago and I just went again and still don't need any. I feel they simply just want to make money and tell you you need something when you really don't. Also, I had one girl clean my teeth and she simply was terrible. She kept hitting my gums and making them bleed and it was pretty painful, the worst experience during a cleaning I've ever had. Then she proceeds to tell me I'm bleeding because I need to floss more. No, I was bleeding because she kept nicking my gums! The reason I gave a 2 star and not 1 star is because one of their hygienists, Becky, is probably the most gentle person I've ever had clean my teeth and made the experience a breeze. And when I did get my filling, the experience was super easy and I literally felt no pain at all, even from the numbing shot. read more

I had a less then exemplary experience here involving 2 crowns and a filling and went somewhere else to have some things corrected. I actually don't even live in the state anymore, but Alameda dental refuses to stop emailing and calling to schedule an exam. I went in today to see Dr. Nelson because a filling of mine fell out. They were able to get me in right away and, to my delight, were able to fix the problem in the same appointment. He also found two spots with exposed tooth roots and covered those in the same session. I have dentist-anxiety, and after explaining that to Dr. Nelson and his assistant, they did such a great job going slow and explaining everything carefully. I really appreciated it! I was in Tempe for work and had a dental pain that was getting worse as the day went on. Called and made a appointment to get in right away. Was pleased with the check in and wait time. Dental assistant got me back and took X-rays then pictures. They were loaded up on a cpu right in front of me and she went over what they were showing. Dentist came in and did the check up, was very informative and treated me right away for a clogged salivary gland. Awesome service and I would recommend them 100%. They are better than my normal dentist in my home town, if I lived in Tempe I would switch. read more

The dentist was very nice. I really like him. However, his staff is terrible. Not only was the hygienist extremely aggressive with the tools, she was also very rude and abrasive. I have perfect teeth and I have never had any work done in my life. I've been to two dentists since this visit and they have all said my teeth are in great condition. The hygienist at Alameda spent the whole visit trying to upsell me on services that are totally unnecessary for me. I have confirmed this with two dentists since this appointment. Then on top of all of it, they have been harassing me by email and multiple phone messages for over a year since I went here to schedule another appointment even after I asked them stop calling. It's a shame such a nice doctor has to be ruined by his terrible staff and business procedures. read more
