Timmy was a fan of rest stops he was a senior dog who loved it more than I…read more I came in around midnight could have gone further but I was a little tired and hungry and huddled in the front seat. I really needed to stretch out and move around. Couldn't really rest well after two hours. I woke up because it was cold many times so I ran the engine a few times to warm up. And noticed the fog was starting to flurry. And it was on the edge of 31°. That was all the incentive I needed to get back on the road. I drove two more hours where it was off the mountain area and 40°, warmer to the south. The rest area was clean and I always try to use them even without the pit stop just to get out and stretch using the car curb for leg/calf stretches and get some water. 37/2024

Parked in the last space of the lot, I was able to open the window that faced the highway so it was a bit of privacy. Between that and the roof vent, a comfortable night at a high point. Comfy! Yes, this rest area allows overnight parking. Not camping, parking. You're here to rest and get some sleep before continuing onwards so do that. Other than a few trucks idling in the lot and a couple who seem to think it's fair to use their engine to break, it was a quiet night. In the morning, a stretch and a visit to the clean restroom and then onwards. Thanks, Grundy County and TDOT! [Review 20208 overall - 470 in Tennessee - 1185 of 2023.]

It's more of a general commentary on Tennessee, as I've been to several of their rest stops. The…read morestate has clearly invested in them, as they are all similarly developed, with stone and wood features. The bathrooms and water fountains you likely come for are ample in scope and in good working order. You'll also be bombarded with twangy music and an enormous amount of pro-Tennessee propaganda. And having been away from the state for a bit, I am reminded that there are actually quite a few nice tourist destinations, more than you'd think if you're not from around here. The comparison to nearby states is quite telling; you won't find anything like this in Kentucky, and Alabama and Mississippi's rest stops tend to be utilitarian at best. In Georgia and South Carolina, you'll struggle to find anywhere to pull over, while western North Carolina tends to have a lot of spots to pull a car over and look but no facilities quite like these. It's also handy that this is a simple loop that gets you off of and back onto the highway momentarily. If you're wondering where to pull over, this is probably the right decision.

When we stopped in March, 2020, there was new construction going on. It appears to just be reconstruction of the on-ramps to the freeway but it was hard to tell what all was being done. It's clean, restful and has what most Welcome Centers have; a place to rest. But don't stay here too long... There is a rule at this rest area that anyone sleeping here longer than their 2-hour limit has to leave. This rule gets enforced especially to truck drivers by the on-site security guards. Rest areas have always been known to be a welcome place for truckers to sleep a few hours, so I'm not sure why this rule exists. But be aware. There are two buildings: one with bathrooms, brochures, and a small area with rocking chairs in front of a fake fireplace. Another building houses various and sundry vending machines. On our visit, the welcome center employee at first seemed suspicious of us Yelpers taking pictures lol, but when I approached to ask questions, she was chatty, and seemed happy to have someone to talk to.

The footprint of this store is smaller and outdated compared to some other QT's, but they still offer all the standards and classics that you come to expect at a QT including the QT Kitchen, pizza by the slice, hot roller stations and self-serve coffee, tea and drinks. This QT is a convenient stop when I am on the road to and from Nashville from Atlanta. Its either one of my last stops or first, depending on the direction I am traveling. Service is hit and miss here. I have hit this location to and from on one trip and had completely different experiences. Never terrible, just noticeable. Overall, I enjoy QT's. We do not have many in the Nashville area, so I try to make it point to swing by when I am back in the Atlanta area.

Usually, at least for me, my decision upon which brand to use depends solely upon what lays inside the convenience store of that gas station. When in northern Georgia, I find myself seeking out QT gas stations when my car is telling me that it is time to fill up. The reason is, as stated before, what lays beyond the doors to the store within. Not only are there surprisingly good hot dogs and toppings on rollers, but a food counter, a long row of coffee, iced tea, and soda selections, as well as the usual gas station offerings. Service is also obviously a corporate focus, you are created upon entry and the crew works diligently to meet the customer's needs, certainly a challenge. I recommend finding one if you are in Georgia. I am confident that you will seek them out time and time again when in their area.
