There are waterfalls, historic sights, great restaurants, and interesting museums, all within an hour's drive. Four major airports: Birmingham, Huntsville, Atlanta, and Chattanooga are all within 90 minutes. We flew into Birmingham and spent four restful nights with our lovely hosts. The location was perfect- great access to Rock City at Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls and Cloud Land Canyon, and the property is this wonderful tiny house with lots of amenities, perfect for the 4 of us, set back in the woods, very peaceful and quiet at night. The bed was super comfortable, and after a day of hiking the canyon, we slept beautifully. Matthew's Tabby cat was very sweet and we enjoyed he company. Their dog was also fun and our youngest enjoyed playing fetch with him. Matthew and his wife shared their passion for bee keeping with our kids which was cool - they enjoyed learning about all things bees. Matthew and his wife even made up a scavenger hunt for our 2 little ones which was so very kind of them. Overall, Matthew and his wife went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience. Nancy brought us to our room named "the view" , which was a cozy wood paneled space that, from our semi private deck, lived up to its name. After an amazing dinner at the Wildflower we retired to our room and comfortable bed for a great night sleep. In the morning we went up for a fantastic breakfast and some wonderful conversation with the others who are staying here. I'm really sad to leave but this has been a great, memorable way to spend my wife and my 10th wedding anniversary. BTW, the other folks who we had breakfast with are looking at property here in Mentone if that is any indication of the beauty of this place.
