My family and I enjoyed staying here and plan to again but I imagine that people will either love…read moreit or hate it with no where in between. I have stayed in a lot of mountain cabins. The roads to some of them were so poor quality, narrow, and incredibly steep that I decided if I made it to the top I wouldn't drive back down until I left. It is on obviously rural mountain roads but I would feel completely comfortable on them even in the winter. Even though the website does say that bedrooms two and three are the second and third floor lofts it's easily overlooked which had happened to at least one reviewer. There are a couple of reasons that might make you either love it or hate it. If you have AT&T cell phone service, and possibly others, reception ends about half a mile before the cabin. However you can get reception outside of your car or the cabin. There are three porches so you don't have to go far for a signal but if you absolutely can't disconnect from the world then you might not like it. If you have a different carrier you might not have a problem. As for me and my family, we were looking for a place to get away and relax and the only people we would want to be able to reach us were here, so it wasn't a problem. Another thing that you might either love or hate is the Wi-Fi which is listed as an amenity. We'd read the reviews on the website saying it didn't work. I'm a former computer engineer so I thought I might be able to fix it or at least diagnose the problem. I can't prove my diagnosis because I can't gain physical access to the equipment but I believe there are two problems with it. The first is that I believe the Wi-Fi router is located in the cabin next door and not in this one and it has a very weak signal that does cut out at times. The second is that I believe it is only a slow DSL connection. The best speed I was ever able to get was 1 Mbps. That's definitely not enough to watch any streaming video like YouTube or Netflix which I believe some reviewers complained about. I had brought my laptop but never had a need or want to use it. I was able to use my iPad and iPhone to browse websites and use most of my apps without too much trouble. My family had come prepared to not have Internet access. We brought toys, games, fishing equipment, life jackets to use with the canoe they provide (they also provide life jackets but I brought my own to make sure I had the right size for the kids), DVDs and a player, books to read, books to color in, ingredients to make s'mores over a campfire, etc. But if you can't live without reliable high speed internet then this place won't work for you. The only other thing I can think of that you might either love or hate is there is no dishwasher. It did kind of surprise me that there wasn't one in a nice place like this but we just brought paper plates and plastic cups and cutlery. (My family is normally very environmental. I even drive an electric car, but nobody wants to spend their vacation washing dishes which wastes water. Sometimes you have to choose one negative environmental impact or another. This time paper and plastic lost to water.) One thing that is usually the same at every cabin or condo I rent is they advertise a kitchen "perfect for dining" but rarely have enough cooking utensils or they have practically been destroyed by previous guests. I've seen much worse but I was glad that I had brought my own spatula, slotted spoon, and can opener. When looking for a vacation destination my family selected this place because we wanted a somewhat remote cabin that was big enough for our entire family of eight, had fun things we could do there, and fun things to do nearby. DeSoto Falls, part of DeSoto State Park on Lookout Mountain is only about two miles away. Little River Canyon National Preserve (Park) with three other waterfalls and a 23 mile scenic trail is only about 15 miles away. If you have the time and don't mind driving a little further, Russell Cave National Monument (Park) is only about 30 miles away. We had so much fun at the cabin that we only went to DeSoto Falls and Little River Falls for a short time one afternoon.

Just take the time to getaway and relax. Looking through the clouds at a rainbow and feeling as though you can reach out and touch it, is an amazing experience. This particular resort offers everything needed for a nice tranquil retreat, great food, Mountain Views, relaxing nooks and lounges, hiking trail, golf and a nice bar looking over a cliff. What more does one need to wind down or hang out with friends? I really enjoyed this place and can't wait to come back with family and friends.

We went to use Amex Hilton free night benefits and they were kind enough to up-grade us to the side of the facility with the better views and a balcony. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The pool an hot tub looked really inviting, but it was just a little too cold for me to take the dip (I regret that decision now btw). Be sure to call ahead to ask about the amenities. For example, the hotel has its own six-hole course that I think you can play for free. Had I known, I'd of brought my clubs an booked a t-time. These are things the mother of the bride should not be stressing over and doing the morning of her daughter's wedding. Especially when I paid $2,400 for owner/wedding planner of her venue to make sure everything went seamless! We made the best of the day, but it was not the experience we had hoped for!! You want your daughter's special day to be everything she had hoped and dreamed of!! Not for her to say every time she speaks of her wedding. "looking back I wish we would have picked a different venue"! If this was my venue, the flower pots would not be bare and brown, clear umbrellas would be there for use if necessary, and a tent would be available for the bride to rent in the event of rain.

They charge a cleaning fee yet you have to clean your own cabin when you leave. We complained about the cobwebs and filth when we checked in and were told it was part of the aesthetic of the woods?!? We found food wrappers, old cloths from past guests, the sofa and pull outs were broken in cabin 9. I mean the list goes on. Don't charge a cleaning fee if you're not cleaning your cabins. The manager is so rude. I mean i was told people in the south were friendly but nope not this one. It is fine if you have a lot of people needing to stay in one place but if you can get an airbnb do so. Things I liked is the view! It was amazing. Very quite area and close to a lot of fun stuff including our venue. Was nice to have everyone so close and have a nice weekend with friends and family.
