Each room has a private deck overlooking the courtyard and a stream. The rocking chairs help add to the relaxation. Def enjoyed a coffee in the morning watching the sunrise from mine. Just know that it is only open Fri dinner through Sunday lunch. There is so much to do in the area and this is a perfect headquarters for you time in NE Alabama.

When we woke up in the morning to walk the dog before heading out it was so peaceful and quaint. All the sites have gravel and grassy spaces in between. Honestly, a well put together simple rv park that's priced right. Huge Thank you to the owners of 1776 for accommodating us!

Before conversation even really begins, I know that translates to cleanliness, order, and well maintained. Bob knew I was driving, so he abbreviated the process, gave me a site number, and said he'd collect for it in the morning. His directions were precise and easy to follow, and just as I suspected, I found a wide open neat, manicured site waiting for me. I had a great night of sleep, got a hot shower, and took breakfast and coffee outside to find I was surrounded by a beautifully landscaped, peaceful mountain paradise. Even my neighbors were friendly and engaging. Bob stopped by later, and we had a fantastic conversation that further reinforced that I had chosen wisely.

If polyester bed spreads and funky lamps are your thing, this is the place for you. My complaint is safety-related: who installs a hardwired thermostat and light switch next to a shower head with only a flimsy curtain separating them? Then there's a non-waterproof hardwired sconce opposite at the other end of the shower, equally hazardous. This kind of electrical installation may have been up to code in 1962 or whenever it was that this bathroom was last remodeled, but in 2022 it's a serious electrocution and fire risk. It made me question all the rest of the wiring, when something this insane on both ends of the tub shower is front and center unprotected next to spraying water.

This review is about the lodging, not the restaurant which was closed when we were there…read more Desoto Lodge was a perfect place for my husband and I to relax with comfort, privacy and no drama. Very easy to make the reservation. The rooms are spacious, like a lot of very nice hotels (better than the ones that are at every highway interchange). Maybe the furnishings are a little dated, but they are a high quality. We found the room had a great shower, nice layout, coffee, wifi, everything we needed. The restaurant was closed so no breakfast or dinner there, but since we went to a park, we were fully equipped to prepare our own food and dine at the nice pine table in the room surrounded by CCC photos. I liked having a little private balcony. It is in the middle of a gorgeous spot in nature.
