The shish tawook was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, and the chicken shawarma was perfectly seasoned and went really well with all the sides. We finished with baklava for dessert, which was crispy, sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and we left very satisfied. I walked into Al Zein a broken person and left a changed man. I've eaten shawarma on three continents and filed a formal complaint with myself for wasting time elsewhere. This is the shawarma the prophets warned us about. The meat is wrapped so tight it should require a permit. One bite and I started speaking in tongues, turns out it was just me thanking the chef in three languages I don't speak. The garlic sauce alone deserves its own Wikipedia page and possibly a restraining order, because I cannot stop thinking about it. Service? They treated me like I was visiting royalty who'd forgotten my crown at home. I asked for extra napkins and the guy looked at me like I'd asked him to walk on water, then did it anyway, no hesitation, hero behavior. I've already started rearranging my work schedule around proximity to this place. My cardiologist doesn't know yet. He's going to be so disappointed, and so worth it. Five stars isn't enough. Really enjoyed this place! The restaurant was clean and well ventilated, you won't leave smelling like food. Everything we ordered was flavorful. The grilled chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the lamb was incredibly tender with no gamey taste at all. The biggest surprise was the chicken tenders. Yum! I didn't think Alpharetta could have such good halal food, but Al Zein was some of the best shawarma I've tasted. Service and ambience were good, food came out super quick. Flavor is actually better than the first bite. Dressing is what makes it, where's the mint and parsley though? I love this salad, but this one was just meh. For almost $12 - I expected way more. #3 - chicken Shwarma platter. Good. Not great. Got 1/4 piece of pita. At $22, trust me, I expect not only more pita, but better quality. The chicken is shaven and dry. The toum is good though. #4 - I ordered grape leaves (dolmades). - I ordered ahead online. I waited for about 15 minutes; and only 1 other group of people came in after me and ordered food, the gentleman tells me they are out. Really?! You must have known that when I walked in. Well, they didn't have it. So ... I ordered the falafel as a replacement. They are decent. Served with hummus and some veggies. Lukewarm. Overall, I had high hopes. We grew up in Detroit and Dearborn where there are many amazing Persian, Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurants. I'll have to stick to Noosh or Rumi's Kitchen. This one lacked luster. And, for a fairly expensive lunch (& the fact that we couldn't eat a $13 sandwich due to their poor hygiene and quality control in-house) we won't waste our time. Absolutely delicious!!!! I was really excited a new shwarma place had opened because I love exploring new Middle Eastern Restaurants. The first time we came was over the summer on a Friday night and it was packedddd! There was no parking in the lot and there was a line out the door, so we chose to go somewhere else. This time, we went during peak dinner time on a Tuesday night, and there was still a few tables left to sit. Food did take some time, but it was soooo fresh. Mixed shawarma honestly hit the spot. one half was chicken and the other lamb. I couldn't pinpoint which one was better because both were flavorful and the best part is I don't have to because I can just order mixed again next time. Service was timely and friendly. I will say their baba ganoush was a different style than I used to and found it less of an eggplant flavor and more of other refreshing veggies. First of all, it's crazy authentic and like being transported to the Middle East, which is amazing to see in John's Creek. Every single woman was in hijab and the music carries you to Tehran. Prices are very fair. The inside is relaxed with a mix of tables and booths. You go up to the counter, order and pay, then wait for your number to be called. I got the mixed shawarma platter ($17) which comes with chicken and beef. I wanted to substitute my fries for hummus but that wasn't allowed. I think it'd be nice if they made that an option as most other places do. The portion size was very generous and the food is EXTREMELY fresh. Time. We've called in orders, only to arrive and for them to have no record of it. Wait times are double to triple what they tell you for take out and pick up. The orders have been wrong (carry out and dine in) more often than not. The food is good, but not worth the price point, the hassle, and the disappointment of getting the wrong items. This was great . Family run and everyone is helpful. We visited during Ramadan and the day of the Eid so they were super busy but maintained good quality. The service was a little slow but probably because of the timing . I am going to go again soon and will update . Good amazing tasted like home . Fresh ingredients and well seasoned. We ordered Mataba (eggplant dip), one beef wrap, one falafel wrap with fries and kunifa (dessert). Mataba was excellent - white and creamy and just delicious. Husband loved his falafel wrap, I didn't care as much for my beef wrap, it just felt dry and meat was a bit chewy, there wasn't much sauce. In retrospect, a platter may have been better coz it comes with fries and a choice of sauce. Fries were okay, nothing to get excited about. Kunifa was large enough to share between 2-4 people and mildly sweet which is how I like it. Wow!! This shawarma gave me flashbacks to my childhood in the streets of Dubai!! My wife and I got the Arabic Chicken Shawarma. It comes with Chicken shawarma cut into pieces, perfect crispy fries, a good portion of creamy garlic sauce and a chili paste, and the most delicious cucumber pickles. Maybe an off day when I visited, or all these reviews are just a hyped (or they haven't had an opportunity to try a better offering). Good flavoring as it seems like the cook knows what he's doing, but all the meat pieces and the dipping bread were DRY as hell and hard to chew. A few gamey beef pieces that I had to spit out. Chicken, beef, and koobideh, all DRY. No veggies come with the shawarma either, not like other businesses around the area. Kinda gets heavy and leaves you desiring for some crunchy and refreshing veggies. Rice coming with mixed combo tasted more like a biryani than ME-styled. Good hummus and even gooder baba ghanoush, but that was the only highlight that kept losing its spot with that dryass bread pieces. Just had to eat 'em up as that $30 worth of food cannot be thrown in the garbage. Kept making me think of the good ol' days at De Afghanan in Fremont... I first tried food from Al Zein at a catered event and was really impressed. I went to the restaurant for the first time today and placed a takeout order. The chicken, beef, and falafel shawarma were all excellent. I am not a red meat fan, but the beef shawarma tasted so good. We REALLY wanted to love this place! Lived in the MiddleEast for years and we're always searching for tastes of that great food. This fell flat. Everything needing more sauce and was way too dry (also didn't like the white sauce it all came with and the cups were too tiny to complete the meal) and nothing had enough flavor. The meat was sliced too thin it was hard to taste anything but meat bark, not that yummy juicy slice you're used to having. Fries had no seasoning and were thrown away. Salad was lack luster. It's a new place so maybe it's just getting the opening kinks worked out so we'll give it another try in a few months. I know we aren't Middle Eastern but the staff could have also been more hospitable and kind (like speak to us or smile, or say thank you), we ordered a ton of food to try and spent a fortune just to try a variety of their menu. read more

The food here is significantly better than when they first o opened. The shawarma is so good and the garlic sauce is MUCH better than before. I would say the shawarma platter is a bit overpriced for the type of plate you get. It's just shawarma with rice and pickles for 18$. The rice has no flavor so I wouldn't get it again. But again, the shawarma is really good !! The beef was very flavorful and the chicken had the perfect texture. The only reason this is a 4, is because the cashier girl who usually works is SO SO RUDE. You always feel like you're inconveniencing her, and she just stares at you like you're bothering her. It's gotten to the point where I only order ahead so I can just grab and go because she's so unpleasant to speak with. I speak Arabic, so I'll say a word in Arabic, which she also speaks, but she'll still look at me with a blank face. While Atlanta is known for bad customer service, I do think your establishment should be better than that. I get excited to visit other arabi establishments, so being greeted that way is very un-welcoming. read more

The price of the mixed grill went up an additional $6.00 over the last few weeks making it a tad high for our liking considering there really is no ambience. Good food, no ambience, noisy children on weekends, so if you want to just eat this is a delicious restaurant. Even with the large price increase for a favorite dish, there are other dishes more affordable and tasty so we will return. They sometimes make fresh pita; however, if your server does not deliver (or forgets this) it to your table you will be out of luck at that point.
