Mixed shawarma plate was fantastic--and super filling

Al Arez is a casual Middle Eastern restaurant with multiple locations around London serving up wraps, shawarma platters, and more. The mixed shawarma platter was ginormous and delicious--I left totally stuffed. The wraps are ok if you want something smaller or for takeaway. Overall a nice option for tasty Middle Eastern cuisine.

Definitely delicious all around! I had both a chicken and a lamb shawarma, which I now partially regret... because I ate too much! Haha! The chicken shawarma was my favorite, but I'm not a huge fan on any lamb not called gyro anyway, so the fact I enjoyed it at all was a surprise. Both were the smaller £4 variety but when they arrived I swear they made a mistake and gave me the large. Nope. I'm now scared of how large their larges are! For £8 I walked out like the marshmallow man in Ghostbusters. Totally stuffed! My wife had some other side dish that was decent. Delicious sauces on everything!

This is a tiny place, definitely not fine dining, but the food is just so good! They have seating upstairs. The space is tiny but comfortable. I have eaten here a couple of times and taken away shawarma rolls at others. They have a lot of items that aren't easy to find in other Lebanese places. When you eat in, you get complimentary pita bread, garlic dip, tomato dip and baklava at the end. I love their mahammara, it amazed me to find jallab (a drink with rose, pomegranate, pine nuts and other stuff in it) that is amazing even though it's made from a commercial syrup. Their potato starter and chicken wings are good too. I prefer their chicken over the lamb shawarma as it's juicier and softer. Personally, I like to order a lot of starters rather than a main course at Lebanese restaurants. I find the starters are often better flavoured than their grilled meats. But this is a personal preference. However it also means that I have never tried the mains here, so I wouldn't be able to recommend something in particular. Washrooms downstairs are adequate and they offer hookah on the outdoor tables (with blankets to use for the cold days) I often head here after visiting one of the trio of museums nearby. It's very non-commercial / non-tourist-ripoff and as I said before, the food is amazing!

Go for the weekday lunch special, because it's one hell of a deal and a ton of food. It goes from 10am to 4pm, and prices start at £9.75. I went with the mixed shawarma platter (chicken and lamb) at £10.50 because I was pretty hungry, and even that was way too much food. But boy, was it good. When the meal started with a complimentary plate of mixed olives and banana peppers, I knew I was in for a treat. The actual platter came with basmati rice, four (!!!!) pitas, two dipping sauces, and a side salad. Holy crap, so much food. I'm not proud, but I ate all the shawarma. The lamb was nice and fatty, the chicken dark and leaner, but still very flavorful and not at all dry. After the meal, they even gave me a box of four tiny little desserts (including baklava). Very nice touch. There's seating downstairs and upstairs. I sat upstairs because there was more room. Loved this place, and you should stop by too!

Mixed grill, grape leaves, lamb schawarma. So much food it could have made three meals.

One of my complaints about living in a smaller town has historically been the lack of diverse food options. Therefore, when wandering around a major city, Lebanese food is usually high on the agenda. The focus on food and quality rather than glitz is even more apparent when you're starving and have just left Harrod's. Al Arez didn't just hit the spot, it hit knocked it out of the park. The food is fresh, flavorful, and there's a ton of it. For about £25 the two of us had enough food to last us for that meal, lunch, and if we hadn't been trying to stuff ourselves to explosion it probably would have lasted to round three. The service was a bit slow, but super friendly. We started with Kibbeh and grape leaves, both were fantastic. The Kibbeh weren't dry, but you should definitely order some type of sauce to go along with them (I'm looking at you, garlic sauce). The Mixed Grill was way more food than a girl should eat, but I gave it my best shot. And everything else just has those same delicious flavors and was prepared so well--it was hard to decide what to eat first and what to save for later. If you haven't eaten there, you should. If you have, you should go back.

What I Ordered: Chicken Shawarma Wrap and Lebne w/ Pita Flavor: Decent. Not the best shawarma I've had, but not bad either. Service: A bit lacking. I was ignored most of the time I ate here. Atmosphere: Not much. Hole in the wall vibe. Price: Good for what you get. Location: Great location, right across the street from Harrod's. Other Comments: Randomly discovered this place, while going to Harrod's.

our lunch plates. 109 and 110. Plenty of food. total bill with drinks was only 31 pounds .

So for being so close to Harrods and tourist area I was very surprised with 1) the quality of the food and 2) the value. The portions are sufficient. I actually couldn't finish my lunch sadly. Ask for the white garlic sauce with the chicken tauk. The kefta kababs were moist and delicious. I ordered the lunch mixed grill with rice. we also ordered the moutaka. eggplant puree. sooooo yummy with just enough lemon. The taboleh was nice as well. overall a great place to eat. its a bit crowded but also tables outside.

This has to be one of the best Lebanese restaurants I ever been to. Practically across the street from Harrods in the posh South Kensington section of London, this place looks tiny but it has a spacious upstairs dining room. As usual, we ordered too much food and the portions are much larger here than any place else in the city. Amazing foul, the mixed shwarma was awesome the kebobs are juicy and full of flavor. Service is courteous and accommodating and prices are reasonable. Terrific restaurant and highly recommended.

Decisions where to eat instead of a £20 small pizza in Harrods so found this authentic Lebanese restaurant just along the street for a quick meal. Food was amazing, halloumi cheese and a mixed grill at the same time was more than enough for my wife and I with left overs. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone, my first time trying Lebanese food and I totally loved it!

Good fries. Bland, fatty shawarma sandwich. Uninspired smoothie. Second-hand hookah smoke permeates inside eating area. Not returning.

First thing that will struck yoy- is its ambience. It's gloriously lively inside. Shelves are lined with imported goods, with so many items on the wall, and lighting hanging from the ceilings. If you have been to any Turkish shop in a Christmas market, it's the same. Anyway, we waited around 15-20 minutes to get the table. We started with their local beers - Local Beirut beer and Menabrea Beer: I won't say, it was unique, but yeah, it had good taste. We were here with a friend from Amsterdam, and we were having a good time. Server did remind us about the main course.. hahaa.. we ordered * Mixed Grill- Lamb chicken kofta with veggies and sauces * Lamb Kofta Grill -grilled ground lamb with veggies and sauces * Batata Harra - small potato pieces in spices... * Baba Ghanuj- smooth smoked eggplant- that's my fav * Warm Flatbread - their in-house bread with olive oil. Goes with baba ghanuj... what an awesome pair... I could have eaten this only without complaint. The food was plentiful, bright, delicious, and filling without being heavy for one person. And did I mention AWESOME! The tastes, the decor, the service, and the value all came together for a perfect meal in London at Comptoir Libanais. This is an absolutely fabulous spot. Try it out if you are near to Musuem neighborhood.
