This wasn't my favorite Comptoir Libanais location, mainly due to the customer service. We ended up having a gentlemen help us that was great, he was running around the entire restaurant looking like he was doing everything, while the other two servers were barely doing anything. Obviously we can't know what was going on that night, but if it wasn't for him this review would be much more negative. Delicious food! The appetizer platter for one was perfect for my hubs and I -- a taste of different appetizers while still keeping room for main dishes. The babaganoush was a a little different than I've had before: it had a little fresh mint and a sprinkling of pomegranate --loved it. I had the Chicken and green olives tangine (stew) with short brown rice. My hubs had seabass with sesame tahini pomegranate sauce --delicious! Avoid this place like the plague. Pure tourist trap. The food was average at best, nothing really to write home about. But the service was appalling. The server took our order for appetizers and promptly ignored us. Never came back to take our dinner order though he served the tables around us. Finally, we asked for our check. I told the Manager about the service and he just gave us a lame apology. We went elsewhere for dinner. We were warned about this place but we thought they were exaggerating but sadly, it was all true. read more

Gosh the seating is cramped. They really try to maximize revenue by squeezing in as many tables as possible. You literally have to move your table to get in and out of your seat. Fast food joints offer more space than this. You sit so close to your table neighbour that you can hear 80% of their conversation without even making an effort to eavesdrop. Not the kind of place to have intimate conversations or conversations to plot how to take over the world while sharing a bowl of hummus. For this reason, I don't want to give 5 stars. The interior is very colorful. So bustling already before 6 pm. Service was never too slow despite managing a full restaurant. Went with a mixed bag of hot and cold meze instead of main course. The baba ganoush was very good. Creamy of course with a generous serving of pomegranate seeds on top. The Batata harra is like a Lebanese version of patata bravas, without the spicy sauce on top. Some sauce would improve this dish. The bread is most likely store bought and served cold. Lebne was good, yoghurt and Tahini with olives and spice on top. The haloumi with figs and rose syrup is a good flavor combo, you want to get a piece of fig and cheese with each bite. Important to note, not fried into rubber. For dessert we had the Orange Blossom, Lebanese milk pudding with figs, prunes, apricot, sultana, saffron. Natural sweetness from the dried fruits. Unique for me and quite a heavy one. read more

Comptoir Libanais is nice to go for lunch outside when the weather is nice. It is situated near the Duke of York Square in Chelsea and has pretty surroundings with boutique stores nearby. I usually enjoy a lighter lunch when I come here- I enjoy the selection of hummus/dips that they offer and my favourite dish is the grilled halloumi. If you are feeling hungry they offer mezze options so that you can sample a little of everything. Overall I like this restaurant but I don't think that there is anything particularly special about it. The food is quite simple. Not bad. Not great. Just OK. Oh, and the service can be a little hit or miss-the last time I came the food came out before the drinks. read more

Firstly dont stand outside and wait to be seated like sign says you'll end up waiting more than 10 mins and watch the world walk past and go in, once in it doesn't get much better had to lean over another table to get a menu and waited 15-20 for somebody to take our order so for that start i would give no stars, then the order was taken and the waitress recommends a starter and it came out we picked up the bread to go with it and the waitress said sorry not yours and takes it off us and gives it to the gent behind knowing we had just touched it, lucky he refused it. The food turned up and the stars are for the food only, it was very flavoursome and fullfilling, May go back for the food but shocking service. read more

I ate here just once and I can't stop thinking about going back. This has become my new favourite place for middle eastern food. Comptoir Libanais makes food that tastes homemade, and anybody who has ever been for dinner at their arab friend's house knows that homemade middle eastern food is the best kind there is. The kibbeh was utterly delicious, the cheese samboosa was yummy, and the lamb tagine was comforting and yummy. I haven't tried anything else yet, but I will be fixing that problem this weekend as I have been missing it since that one meal. read more

If you want to order and wait 45 minutes for your lunch, this is the place for you. We are here now, still waiting. "oh we're busy" well, yeah. Why don't you hire more staff if you're this busy... Food was simply OK. I've been to many Lebanese restaurants and this one is nothing to write home about. Very busy so people obviously love it, but for me it was bland. read more

Definitely not recommended for Autumnal morning coffee! We had actually hoped to meet at the nearby Saatchi Gallery but rescheduled as the latter's cafe does not open until 10 am. No amount of cappuccinos can make up for the lack of heating - the most uncomfortable environmet on a rainly day - ever. I have had disappointing experiences at other branches (the decor is so enticing!), I think I will avoid Comptoir Libanais altogether from now on. read more

Good food, lively atmosphere and warm service. Cutlery and plates very generic, and the interior feels welcome as well as eclectic.

It was a hot day, and my companion and I had been walking for miles. We were thirsty as hell, and ordered tap water with our food. It didn't come. I have a medical condition which means that I can't start eating until I've moistened my throat, so I asked our waiter a second time. It still didn't come. 5 minutes later we asked a different waiter. Still, no water was forthcoming. By now it had been 40 minutes since we first thirstily sat down, and 20 minutes since our food had been served, and it had gone cold while we waited for water. Finally, after asking a forth time, we were brought some water -- in tiny, 6-ounce glasses, which were not going to do the trick. We asked whether it would be possible to leave a pitcher of water at the table, and were given a long lecture about how this was impossible, because there were only three pitches of water available for the entire restaurant. So we drank the glasses in a single gulp and asked whether we could have a refill. The waiter just snorted and walked away, leaving our glasses empty. Finally we asked whether we could order bottled water, and the waiter eventually returned with a solitary 12-ounce bottle which looked like it came from an off-license and cost £1.55. The customer service was among the worst I've ever received. When the cheque arrived, it included an automatic 12.5% gratuity, with no option to remove it and VAT added on top of that (I checked HMRC regulations afterwards: this is not only slimy, but actually illegal -- anything labeled as a "gratuity" cannot be made mandatory, and must not have VAT applied to it). Never have I been so strongly tempted to walk away from a restaurant with the bill unpaid. Two stars because the food was acceptable. But everything else about this was an intensely negative experience, and I will certainly not be returning. read more

Another one of those average places looking too good to be true. You may find some nice stuff here and there but the whole picture is don't bother too much going there if you are looking for something authentic. I guess I am the only one thinking of it while going there but hey, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. It is a chain and like always, you tend to know it after a little while. Nice decor (too nice?), menu looks pleasant, drinks etc, but overall the food quality is meh. Leaving you to two options : go there and in all other branches only if out of option, or looking for a cheap lunch/dinner situation. It looks very good but it is average. Good way to sell your brand though, if only the food could go a little higher in quality, I would be the first advocate as i love Mediterranean cuisine. read more
