This massage therapist was a no-call, no-show. I took my sister there for an appointment to help relieve her stress and she said the woman left her a vm an hour before asking her to bring the completed health background form with her to the appointment. So it all seemed legit and my sister was happy to take some time off work to go. We got there about 10 minutes early and waited until 15 minutes past. We left multiple vm and texts. No response still a day later. Apparently this business is now out of business and not bothering to tell anyone. read more

A hidden gem! I highly recommend this business. This is a review from a massage connoisseur. I have been getting professional massages at least once a month for the past 10 years at massage envy and other businesses. Raz had a private business and offers a wide variety of services with 10 plus years of experience. I am visiting from out of town and was gifted a 1 hour massage and I chose a therapeutic massage with some Swedish relaxation as well. Raz worked wonders for my sore back, neck and shoulders. She is very professional and communicates efficiently. There were no surprises. The temperature of the room, the table, the ambiance, the tranquil sounds were awesome! My modesty was respected the entire time. If I was a local I would definitely be a regular client. I would love to experience the other services she has to offer to include: various massages, hot stone therapy, cupping therapy, reflexology, facials, health coaching, etc. Check out her website! Established in 2004.

Established 2004, The SpaTherapy Room opened its doors in the heart of Adams Morgan, Washington, DC. Eventually, for the sake of parking and convenience, we moved to College Park, MD. Years later, and after many awesome life changes, we are now located in beautiful Durham, North Carolina! We are still providing the same high quality and nurturing services to women, and we are grateful to be able to say that clients who trust our services willingly and regularly commute to Durham for treatments!

Meet the Business Owner: Raz G.

Raz is the owner and practitioner at The SpaTherapy Room. She has been a holistic health practitioner since 1994, and loves helping women feel healthy and whole. Her education began in her own home, where teas and tinctures were the norm. Eventually, after years of government and corporate service as a proofreader/editor and volunteering as a literacy coach, she took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (INFP) where massage therapy was suggested as a career. And the rest is history! Raz has a passion for natural healing and the empowerment of women through increasing awareness of the potential of the body and mind. Through therapeutic bodywork, energy medicine, and herbal tea therapy, she helps women up and down the East coast.

However, the care I get now is superlative because of Dr. Ping's diagnostic excellence. I have never had any western medicine physician nearly as fine as Dr. Ping. I get care from both Dr. Ping and my western med physician. Each of them can do some things the other can't. Dr. Ping doesn't perform surgery or send referrals for ultrasounds, x-rays, or CT scans. My western doc doesn't provide plant based medications, or acupuncture. I value them both yet I depend on Dr. Ping in my unhealthiest moments. His wife, Lorraine, keeps appointments and medications going smoothly and is a joy to be around.

I really USE Yelp reviews and read them carefully because I really want to know WHY you like a doctor (it is just cuz you think he has "dreamy blue eyes" or is it more?) SO...HERE'S WHY I LIKE DR HILL: 1. I'm 67, fit, active -- walker, runner (not "serious" -- walk/run 2-3 miles 4-6x a week -- swimmer in summer and Fuel Fitness). I have hard plastic orthotics that I've worn for THIRTY YEARS. I assumed, when I first visited Dr. Hill, that my feet have changed over the past 30 (!) years and the orthotics would need to be replaced (not cheap, totally necessary). In other words, 30-yr old orthotics were an engraved invitation to "sell me" new orthotics. Dr. Hill held them to the bottom of my feet and said "well, these still look fine..." I'm not an untrusting person -- but THAT inspired trust! 2. She is a real "problem solver." She doesn't just reach up to her mental shelf and pull off a pre-formulated answer. She really listens and THINKS. And she's very clear, plain-spoken and practical. I have spent $2500 out of pocket (after insurance payments) trying to find out what is causing pain in my right ankle and base of my toes on right foot. 3 x-rays. 3 visits to EmergeOrtho (I could write an essay -- but let me just say I will NEVER EVER return to them -- waste of money. One doctor would contradict the next!) Visited Duke Sports -- and 3 Physical Therapy visits, who said it was tendonitis and only PT exercises would help, over a long time. Exercises DID seem to help -- but still definitely "something not right" and I've been scared to run and scared to do a lot of walking for fear I might cause some kind of real damage. 3. Dr. Hill heard my tale...took xrays. Said "I think what's going on here is complex." Said legs are likely aching due to: 1. my venous insufficiency (wear those compressions socks!). 2. Looks like I don't put the normal amount of pressure on my big toe -- causing the 2 next to it to be bearing more -- getting sore. 3. The two toes next to my big toe slant a bit towards the bit toe. Narrows the gap between the bones on both those toes, possibly somewhat pinching all the things that run between those bones. Said the hard plastic orthotics can sometimes cause an issue -- so go to a store and buy some insoles with heel cups (those were $10 -- so NOT a huge expense). Said to be better about wearing compression sock. When I said "so...why does the middle toe on my right foot stick up like that when I try to curl my toes? Still doing that after a year -- what's causing it?" She said "I have no idea. See? No b.s. -- Just one more reason why I like her. :-)

Dr Hill permanently ruined my toenails with a simple ingrown toenail procedure. On top of that, she did the procedure to both toenails, even though only one needed the work. Why? Perhaps because she is a sadist. That was the vibe I was getting. Incredibly rude, dedicated to my pain. She shouldn't be a doctor.
