I only ended up taking an hour or so off of work. I will definitely use them again. They frequent the Fairfax/Falls Church areas. I'm giving it a bit of time to make sure the repair holds, but so far things seem fine. That said, I do have two concerns: Everything was done via text. The booking, estimate, and payment were all handled by text message. While that's certainly convenient, it also made the whole experience feel a bit impersonal. I'm not old, but I still value some human contact and connection with the company I'm hiring. The tipping prompt felt inappropriate. When I went to pay the invoice, there was an option to add a tip for the repair tech on top of the quoted price. I really dislike this practice. Restaurant servers depend on tips as part of their income; repair technicians should be paid an adequate salary by the company, without the customer being nudged to subsidize their pay. In short, I appreciate that Andy Duck Repair addressed the issue, but I hope they'll reconsider how they handle customer interaction and tipping in the future.

It still didn't work as it should, however. It limped along several months and we had him back for a third time. He said new compressor now needed replacement and it would be over $1000 to replace it and he couldn't guarantee it would work. This tech doesn't know what he is doing and he is not able to properly diagnose the problem. He keeps replacing parts that don't fix the problem. This company is a one man show with the owner being the one doing the repairs. As a result, it is probably a good idea to pick a different provider.
