There's an array of carefully selected pieces and interesting, fun, eclectic accessories. I made the appointment (at my convenience which isn't very much convenient for most at 7a on a Saturday morning) and was pleasantly accomodated, even as I tried on a bunch of dresses that needed help with the zipper! Very good selection, as found on website, return was just as easily scheduled and even a credit was kept for the remaining voucher amount. Parking is a pain, but is to be expected in the North End. Then she immediately told me I had to leave my tote bag by the side of the desk (out in the open.) I didn't want to do that because A I had just bought a new jacket across the street, which was in the tote bag. And B there's no way I am leaving my tote bag out in the open like that for someone to steal it the minute the sales person leaves the desk. Also treating your customers, the minute they walk in the door, like a criminal simply because they are holding a tote bag, which hello most people do today instead of using in store paper bags is not good customer service to say the least. And then telling them to just leave the tote bag sitting in the open unsecured is crazy. Would they pay for my new coat if someone stole it? I get that shoplifting is a problem but treating a potential customer with this broad brush approach isn't the solution. I've gone to many shops and stores and never encountered this policy. I may have bought something in there but I was so turned off by this rude and condescending approach that I just left. MUJI across the street never once asked me to leave my tote bag because they were afraid I might steal something. They were all super friendly and nice and even let me bring my tote bag in the dressing room after counting the number of items I was bringing in.
