Whether you like sushi or hibachi, this place is for you. We did a combo of both and had a terrific time. The food was delivered super fast and it was delicious. We ordered appetizers, sushi, and hibachi. First the starters like side salad and soup was brought out so quick. The salad had a great taste to it, wonderful dressing. The soup was light and tasted. Then the sushi came out in record speeds, the appetizers came out just as quick. The fried calamari was so good, I loved how crispy it was. The sushi was delcious. The ratio of rice to seafood was great, not too much rice, just enough seafood and veggies. I love to pair my sushi with extra spicy mayo. The hibachi came out last but perfectly timed after we were done with the sushi. The rice had a nice even portion of veggies, fried rice, and steak. The taste was there, the yum yum sauce they offer is great to put all over the food. I highly recommend asking for more. Overall my experience was 5 Stars, it's BYOB, the service is quick, and the food was tasty. I was definitely come back and recommend this place to friends. Best pork gyoza I ever had! Also got the chicken hibachi meal and that was pretty tasty. Big fan of the fried rice!!

The sushi and sashimi are always fresh. We also get some of the different appetizers. The lunch specials are a good deal for all.

I took my fiancé to this hibachi restaurant on her birthday. The staff were so welcoming and the atmosphere was wonderful! The food was delicious and plentiful resulting in my fiancé not finishing her food. I ate her leftovers the very next day. read more

Been coming here for years and I love this place. It's a great very small chain restaurant. The service is always very good and everyone working there is always so friendly. They act like a family which is very nice and comforting. The place is BYOB which is a great addition to spending less money while you're out but still enjoying alcohol with your dinner. The miso soup and dumpling soup were a little mushroom happy but that's ok. They were still served warm and delicious. Unfortunately for our main course, my sushi I ordered came out about ten minutes after my friends hibachi steak. She was being polite and waiting for my food to arrive before beginning to eat but by the time my food arrived hers was getting cold. That was unfortunate and has not happened to me there before. The specialty rolls are great and they offer a large variety of sushi plates. You can also typically get the Chinese food menu in Akira as well if you ask for it which is great if you are with a larger group that wants different items. read more

Foods fine but placed a take out order by viewing the menu on their website. Was expecting to pay one price when I arrived and was charged $15 more then what was on the website. As I was surprised to the price I was given, I asked if it was the correct order and was informed that the prices were probably just wrong as if it was no big deal. I been going here a long time. I love the place. The only reason why I give it four stars is because during Covid they must of did majority take out business. Now that Covid is over they still have take out which creates a major traffic jam in the kitchen and sushi bar. It's hard to do a sit down and take out with the same staff with out either the people inside or people picking up food having to wait long periods of time. The restaurant also could use an update. I do recommend Akira and enjoy it every time I go. I'm in the restaurant business myself so I can't help myself when I see kinks in the chain. read more

I come here a lot when I have to check in at my office. Moorestown in general is really nice, but Akira 2 is my destination for lunch! The lunch bento boxes are my favorite. They have a variety to choose from: chicken, shrimp, salmon, steak, and all are cooked to perfection! I even like the way they slice up the orange in the bento box, the attention to detail is fantastic! I always leave Akira 2 satisfied; I never feel bloated or full, I just feeling like I had the perfect meal, and the perfect size. The bento boxes come with a cali roll, but I haven't tried the sushi/sashimi yet - I need to, and I expect it will be as good as everything else I've tried there. Today was my first time ordering takeout from here. The place is very nice on the inside, not big so you will be close to your next table mates. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special, tuna avocado, spicy tuna, salmon avocado and smoked salmon sashimi. The sushi smelled fresh, rice was perfectly cooked. Decent sized cut portions 6 pieces of each. My only dissatisfaction was the smoked salmon was very thin, any other place they are cut thick, sushi snobs call them steak cuts. These were not even close (see images ). Yea i said it and I meant it, grade A sushi and hibachi. I love this place I come here for nice dinners or I come here on a random weekday for lunch specials. I'm not exaggerating everything on their menu is gold. The decor is beautiful, all different colored lights and fountains and the staff is great. I always get the spicy lobster appetizer which I feel bad eating because it is a lice of art, this perfectly spicy lobster salad packed with mango, avocado and asparagus. Their pink lady roll is a must too , loaded with shrimp tempura spicy tuna and eel and the pink soy paper makes this piece of art good before the first bite. I always get an order of eel sashimi as well. DO NOT SLEEP ON THEIR HIBACHI.. it is 5 star as well. Highly reccomend this place. read more

Definitely the best sushi in the Moorestown/Cherry Hill/Mount Laurel area. The only better sushi I've had was in Hawaii, and that's just not convenient. The interior is very nicely designed, but as Meghan C said, hibachi can get very loud. There's a large koi...I don't want to say pond, more like a fountain, at the back of the main room that really makes the place look great. I like going there for the $12 lunch special (three rolls) and sitting next to the fountain, even if I'm by myself. The prices are pretty typical for the area, but since it's a BYOB, it's affordable. We started out here a few years ago, just getting rolls and such, and as our tastes have evolved, we now eat sashimi and sushi more often than rolls. Their white tuna, when they have it, is amazing, and their fish is always extremely fresh. Try the tuna-avacado salad. It's a very generous portion that's got a great dressing on it. Very interesting, and while it's a bit pricey ($10), it's enough for two people as an appetizer. They've also started doing chinese food in the side room, and I tried the takeout Pork Lo Mein a couple weeks ago. I've had PLM all over the state, and this was by far the best I've had. It was a little more 'interesting' than you'd normally find for takeout, with wild mushrooms being substituted for the standard button, but it was delicious. read more

I can't say that I love Akira, but this is the one place that I can always turn to knowing that I won't be unpleasantly surprised. I always feel like it's a little bit more "high-class" than the neighboring sushi restaurants like Yokohama and Mikado. But this is reflected in the slight price difference which makes it a little expensive for dinner. Lunch here is a steal though, and the hibachi is very entertaining. Overall, reliable sushi and service, and the decor is not too shabby either. Good place for birthday dinners and casual affairs. read more

We ordered normal staples, Spicy tuna & salmon, BUT he ordered White tuna, & i got UNi, Now shouldn't have , since It was my 1st time, & I noticed one of them was off in taste. Didn't taste like briny sea -usually taste.I went home, & before morning , & had bouts of craps-woke me up..The uni was bad , had food poisoning. this progressively got worse when I went to work, if I didnt take Asian Herbal pills-would have had to go to hospital. should have known NOT to get Uni in an unfamiliar place,& I wont be returning . I've been here a couple times now for lunch and I have yet to be disappointed. The prices are great as well as the quality. If you happen to be here on your lunch break my vote goes for the bento box. You get soup, salad, shumai, a California roll, rice and that's all in addition to which bento box you choose. I'm all about variety when it comes to a good meal and at Akira they obviously feel the same way. It's never more than a $25 bill for two people from my experiences. The decor is modern and clean, comfortable seating, hibachi, and a sushi bar if you choose! I'm happy to add this place to my list of quick, local lunch spots. read more

After some debating back and forth we decided on Akira for our work Christmas party. We are a small group of five and decided to go here for both the experience and the food. We made a reservation for one of the hibachi tables only one day in advance and they were able to accommodate us (and we even got our own table, party of five). Hibachi is a fun experience and they didn't disappoint, they did the Saki bombs and the throwing food in your mouth like other places. The cook was fun and made the experience enjoyable. Most of us got salmon; and one person got chicken, everyone enjoyed their food. We also got the gyoza (both steamed and fried) and the edamame. Everyone enjoyed everything (the fried gyoza the most). When we got the bill we realized we spent less than we expected and decided to get dessert. We got green tea Michu, friend ice cream and friend banana to split between us. The friend banana was definitely the biggest hit. While there I took note of the sushi menu and it looks excellent and I will definitely be back to try some of their rolls. Bonus points for the place being a byob and then not charging a corking fee. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday evening a bit after 9pm. Only two other tables were occupied in the sushi/non-hibachi area. Fairly nice furniture and conservative on decor. The place was, as many sushi joints seem to me, quite dark. There were LEDs that changed color throughout the course of our stay. I was an uber anti-fan of that. Our service was good. We weren't a needy group. No cork fee for the bottle of wine we brought, and they did not card anyone--not even one of us who turned 21 not two months ago. Nice, noted, internal question: do underagers try to party here? I didn't notice shumai on the menu. There were gyoza, I prefer shumai, and did you know both originated in China? Anyway, the menu has two different sections of special rolls separated by at least two pages, and it is unclear what distinguishes them. Perhaps some are permanent menu items and other are not. My friend and I shared the Mount Laurel roll (King crab,eel avocado roll topped w.tuna & wasabi tobiko @$13) and a shrimp tempura roll (@$8). The former was nice, fresh, and pleasant; the latter was large in circumference, came in 5 pieces (not 6), was so-so, and somewhat difficult to eat. We all indulged in some dessert, and the chocolate pyramid was both a lovely combination of textures and graceful dance of bitter & sweet upon the tongue. Yes really, after a couple glasses of riesling, this was how I felt. So, I am not amazed but a bit impressed with Akira 2. I'd go back, I suppose. read more
