[[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm just leaving St. Joseph's with my newborn baby girl and I'm so filled with gratitude for Dr. Ashrafian![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was dealing with a somewhat frightening and frustrating pregnancy and she stepped in to advocate for me and to get my baby here safely. She preformed a flawless c section and made me feel so comfortable in the operating room! Thank you for everything Doc!

I can never speak more highly of a physician than Dr. Akerman. I myself am an RN, so I am overly critical because I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in the medical world. Dr. Akerman has delivered 3 of my 4 children. I've had 2 operations with him as well. My last pregnancy was trouble from the beginning. I started hemorrhaging at 11 weeks. When I called, the girls said come in right away. No questions asked. Thank goodness my miracle baby was still hanging on. I had developed a large subchorionic hemorrhage. We shared hugs and tears, and I was put on bedrest because I was at a huge risk of delivering early. I had quite a few medical issues arise unrelated to my pregnancy during the pregnancy. Dr. Akerman was there every step of the way checking on me and my baby. 2 weeks before I delivered my son, my dad, my hero died suddenly. I was heartbroken, Dr. Akerman heard the news and personally reached out to me to give me his condolences. If that doesn't speak volumes about him, I don't know what does. I've watched Dr. A go from 1 practice to now have grown 3. He spends so much time making sure the doctors, NPs, Midwives and PA's he brings in are the right fit. Dr. Lao has been one of the greatest additions to his already incredible practice. I am forever grateful for Doctors like him and Dr. Lao! They are what medicine should be! There to help people because they care.

My ob was not on call that evening (sad, because he's great!), but I had the privilege of receiving care from Dr. lao! My first baby I got the epidural, but this one I was hoping to go unmedicated. MAN is that so much easier said than done! As I lingered for awhile at 9/10 centimeters, I was becoming more and more tired, scared, and indecisive on my next steps for bringing my son into the world. Every contraction made me less confident that I could do it, but Dr Lao was one of the 3 in the room who reassured me and helped me through! My biggest praise has to go to her CALM CALM demeanor. What a difference that made! She was incredibly patient with my indecisiveness, never pressed me for what she wanted over what I wanted, but also (so) kindly gave her recommendations and gave me both the space to think things through and all the options before me. She also took great care and extra steps in physically delivering my son, and honored my wish to delay cord clamping until the cord turned white. Never with a hint of annoyance either. Thank you Dr. Lao!!

I certainly am someone who fits into that boat, as I have so much anxiety around doctors offices and anything medical. Also as a queer individual, there's an extra layer to reproductive care that (in my experience) is often overlooked. Dr. Ogez is so thoughtful, patient, and informative in her practice -- I've never felt safer during a wellness exam. Her bedside manner is exceptional; I felt heard in what I was saying during my visit, and also felt empowered about making choices about my body because Dr. Ogez took the time to really talk through things with me (and it is so clear that she stays very well informed on contemporary approaches to gynecological care that help empower patients.) That enough is worth 5 stars for me, but I should tack on that the office was so well organized that I think I was in the waiting room for about 3 minutes in totality? And then maybe waited alone in the exam room for about 2 minutes. The visit itself did not feel rushed at all, and yet I was stoked on how quickly I managed to get in and out of the office. Highly highly recommend.

She is young, patient and wise when it comes to bedside manners and her making choices with you about what is best for you and your baby. The office staff is professional and friendly. The office itself is very clean. Whenever I got to my appointments the nurses were all so sweet. I never had to wait a long time at my appointments, except for one time when Dr. Ogez was not there and someone else had to see me so they had to read my chart to get familiar with my pregnancy status, which was understandable. I can't wait to share with you all my experience once I deliver. I will be back to update this review but for now, I'm blessed with Dr. Ogez as my OBGYN.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience trying to schedule an appointment with this OB/GYN…read moreoffice. For the past two weeks, I have been going back and forth with the front office staff just to get an appointment scheduled. What's ironic about all this is, I was transparent with the front office in letting them know my pregnancy was achieved through IVF. The office informed me they could not schedule me until I provided proof of a viable pregnancy through an ultrasound and information on my frozen embryo transfer. I had to wait a whole week to be seen by my out of state IVF fertility doctor to get this ultrasound done. When I finally have this information and I call them back so I can scan it. I am told they only accept fax or walk in to drop of paperwork so then can review it and contact me if they can proceed with scheduling. I am 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant. On my ultrasound it was found the pregnancy is viable and there is already heart beat. Yet, this office is unwilling to see me. This has been incredibly frustrating, especially during such an important and emotional time. As a patient with an IVF pregnancy, I expected better communication, clearer instructions, and more support from the front office. Instead, the process has felt confusing, stressful, and unnecessarily difficult. I hope the office improves its scheduling process and communication with patients, especially those going through high-stress pregnancies. What's more ironic in all this is if I hadn't informed them about my IVF treatment they would have added me on the schedule without even knowing and would have confirmed that I am in fact pregnant. This office obviously does not want my business. My only mistake here was trusting my pregnancy with this doctor and their staff.

Dr. Bignami was my OB in my first pregnancy. In many ways, I found her competent and compassionate…read more However, I believe that two of Dr. Bignami's actions have harmed me greatly. Action 1: I made multiple requests to Dr. Bignami for an elective c-section based on personal/family medical history. However, Dr. Bignami repeatedly told me and my husband that I could not have an elective c-section because her hospital and/or her "board" would not allow it. Grievance 1: I have since been told by leadership at Dr. Bignami's hospital that patients do, in fact, have every right to an elective c-section, and that I should have been allowed one. This leadership went on to acknowledge that hospitals often require low c-section rates to receive certain financial incentives. I can only imagine that such policies could put pressure on individual OBs to keep their personal c-section rates low. Action 2: As I believed Dr. Bignami that I was not allowed a c-section, I agreed to an induction of labor and gave birth vaginally. Dr. Bignami delivered my baby and stitched my tears. When I asked about my tear severity, Dr. Bignami said that it was only 2nd degree (typical). However, to my husband and me, Dr. Bignami seemed surprised and uncomfortable discussing my tear. She also made comments that I considered inconsistent with her diagnosis, like that I should expect pain for at least a year. Dr. Bignami's behavior, combined with my difficult postpartum recovery, made me suspect that I had actually torn more severely. Grievance 2: As a result of this suspicion, I went to a new OB in a different hospital for my second baby and expressed my concerns to this new OB that my tears from my first birth were somehow more severe than diagnosed. However, in my opinion, this new OB placed greater weight on Dr. Bignami's assessment that I had only 2nd degree tears. She told my husband and me that she could not advise a c-section to a second-time mother based on Dr. Bignami's assessment of my birth injuries. Thus, I gave birth vaginally, against my wishes, a second time. After the birth of my second child, my new OB said that I had torn to 3rd degree (a severe tear). She also said that she believed that I had probably torn to 3rd degree in my first birth (the one with Dr. Bignami) as well, due to the scar tissue exposed by my new injury. Having suffered a previous 3rd degree tear would also make the 3rd degree tear I suffered in my second birth less anomalous, insofar as I have understood birth injury statistics in the primary literature. Harms: I have now sustained what are believed to be two 3rd degree tears. If I had instead received the c-section I requested from Dr. Bignami, I believe that neither tear would have occurred. If Dr. Bignami had instead classified my first tear as 3rd degree, I believe I would have had a c-section for my second birth and my second tear would not have occurred. While recovering from my first tear was challenging, the long-term effects of my second tear have been life changing. I suffer daily fecal incontinence and various other pelvic symptoms. This has robbed me of so much joy, freedom, and professional opportunity - it feels like a large portion of who I am has died. Moreover, the damage from my tears is so extensive that some doctors have cautioned me about having a third child, even by c-section, as any additional stress on my already damaged pelvic region could exacerbate these already debilitating issues. For my husband and me, the potential preclusion of our long-intended third child is something that we can only liken to a loved-one's death. I appreciate that Dr. Bignami has an incredibly challenging profession, but there is no valid reason for the unnecessary and avoidable suffering that I experience every day. Adhering to arbitrary c-section quotas and avoiding the guilt/scrutiny that their consequences evoke is not worth a woman's life, but I believe that much of my life has been forfeited to it all the same.
