the menu for the lunch

Good Sushi ! Went here with my work buddies today. The food was very good and the place was busy at lunch. Service was not bad either. I would definitely visit again , especially if i am driving somewhere on I-94 through Jackson. My favorite was the Angry Bird Sushi Roll and the Mach E. I didn't quite like the Beef and Asparagus

Shrimp tempura, Vegas crunch, volcano II, and spicy California

Happy to find a sushi place in Jackson as we are new around here!! We went for lunch and had four sushi rolls. The spicy California, shrimp tempura, volcano II, and Vegas crunch! Vegas crunch was our fav!!! The crunch and the eel sauce combined with all the goodies tucked inside made it our top choice. The spicy California, although simple, was super satisfying! Volcano II was good but it may have been too fishy for us (the irony when ordering sushi). Our waitress was super friendly and attentive and we will be back!

We don't drive through Jackson without stopping here. And if you're a green vegetable lover... The Turtle Roll is a must!

Very good stuff, a hidden gem in Jackson. In a town where most are scared to break the mold and try new things, I am glad AKA is here.

I don't know what happened, but for whatever reason this place has turned into a crazy busy college…read moretown kind of bar on some of the weekends. Mostly extended weekends when everyone is back in town to see family and friends. During the day, week, and a lot of weekends, it's just your typical less populated dive. They only accept cash, so you have to be prepared for that, but the drinks are ridiculously cheap and they don't skimp on the pour to make up for it. Cocktails... not really their specialty. This place is used to beer drinking regulars and people who want their liqueur straight up. They'll make you one, just don't have high expectations because this is not that kind of bar. There is a pool table and bar food. No full kitchen so the menu isn't overly impressive, but booze is more of their specialty. The staff is older and can be kind of crotchety, but that's usually if it's one of the crazy nights that all these young kids randomly show up. They weren't that kind of bar, I don't think the staff knows why these kids keep coming back, and they are slowly learning to embrace it. If you're a laid back person, looking for a cheap drink and a random conversation with a stranger at the bar, this is your kind of place. I've met some really off the wall folks and the regulars can keep you entertained for hours if you strike up a conversation with one... don't expect half of their tales to be true, but enjoy the ride.

We experienced about an hour wait before we were seated, they were really busy. The wait after we ordered was a bit frustrating, it was about an hour until our food arrived. The server was attentive and apologetic but they must have been super backed up. I started with the cherry ginger beer mocktail and it tasted like cherry soda. I ordered the Greek salad and found it to be a little heavy on the chickpeas but the dressing was good and light. We started with the lemon ricotta & bread- it was really tasty but the way that it was served was a little awkward in a small jar. As a shareable, it would be easier in a more open bowl, easier for more people to access. We also got the lamb meatballs and it came with pita and tzatziki- I enjoyed it (not spicy fyi). My sister got the miso salmon and I had food envy, that was the best dish at our table. It had a really nice sweet glaze on it with rice and broccolini.

Truth is though...a restaurant is about eating, right? There's no half a star option so gotta go with 2. First, as you can see from the photos the place is absolutely beautiful. The service was top notch! Kind and welcoming hostess as we entered and greetings from a different one as we left. Server Chelsea (Chelsea P I think) was absolute perfection. I'm glad I finally remembered to get the server's name to give recognition where due. The food though.... My NA drink was beautiful and kudos to them for having options. If I remember correctly though it was $12 and the serving was so small. It was good, not excellent. Can get an alcoholic drink for $12. Maybe not here? Didn't check. Greek appetizer plate for $18....hummus, tzatziki olives feta cheese and bread were great. The portions of hummus and tzatziki were incredibly small. Basically a ramiken. The tomatoes and apricots were not good, and looking back at the menu description I'm realizing we didn't get peppers on ours. Lamb burger and upgrade to parmesan fries. I've never had a bad lamb burger or parmesan fries in my life...til now. The burger had zero flavor and same with the fries. The fries were warm when served and immediately went cold. Had me thinking they weren't cooked fresh. Our server was kind enough to offer some house made chips that would normally come with the burger so that we could taste them (if we didn't do the upgrade to fries). They were ok, but personally I don't come to a restaurant to eat chips. I hate that over the past couple years the trend with restaurants is to give you chips and make you pay if you want fries. Can get chips at a gas station. I digress. Lemongrass Grilled Chicken sandwich. I was really excited for my husband to get this but he too was incredibly disappointed. Hardly any chicken, no flavor, lots of bread that overwhelmed the sandwich. He was disappointed in his quickly cold fries as well. All in all with tax and tip a $75 bill which is just crazy for what we had/the quality. The worst $75 ever spent on a meal. I asked my husband how he'd rate Atlas since I was torn (and it was an early bday celebration for him ugh) and he said well below average especially since the only great food items were olives, feta, hummus tzatziki and bread...which are not special to the restaurant.

Disappointing BBQ Experience We drove in from a few towns…read moreover, excited to try this spot because they're open late (until 11pm) and we were craving some solid BBQ. Unfortunately, it was a pretty disappointing visit overall. We ordered the DQ Pulled Pork and Brisket, and both came out cold with no flavor. The corn bread was okay, and the collard greens were surprisingly spicy -- not bad, just unexpected. We originally wanted the trifecta but they had already run out of ribs. So we went for two orders of burnt ends, expecting that rich, crispy texture. Instead, they were soft, smushy, and cold -- more like baby food than BBQ. Not good at all. The only standout dish was the corn cream cheese side -- warm, flavorful, and probably the best part of the meal. Also worth mentioning: the bartender was great -- super cool and clearly passionate. The place itself has a chill, loungey vibe, but it doesn't really feel like a true BBQ joint. Final thoughts: Burnt ends: Cold, soft, no bark -- total miss Pulled pork & brisket: Cold, bland Collard greens: Spicy, but decent Corn cream cheese: Delicious Vibe: Cool, but not very BBQ-ish Service: Bartender was the highlight Wish we could've had the food to match the energy. Hopefully they can tighten things up, especially on the basics.

Friendly staff, upbeat, lots of smiles. Server was great she was from Chicago one of my favorite cities. The food is great, cannot say enough about the chicken bacon ranch calzone it's amazing one of the best I've ever eaten. Also have tried the Ruben sandwich with fries. Sandwich was tasty but Extremely small portion for the price and the fries are skinny so eat them fast or they'll get cold quick. Been back 3 times. Placed a to go order on the way home from Ann Arbor and once again it did not disappoint. It was lunchtime on a Wednesday and they were packed with a 25 minute wait time, so glad I had placed a to go order, but that just goes to show you how well they are doing I highly recommend checking them out, I'm definitely gonna mane my way around

The place itself is newer, which you can immediately tell from the clean, modern décor and the fact that it doesn't feel like it's been operating unchanged since 1994. It's a great spot to come with friends or family, or to grab a seat and catch a game. In our case, we were taking clients out to eat, and they chose this place, which instantly earned them major points. Excellent pick. Naturally, we ordered appetizers, because skipping apps would be irresponsible. The artichoke and spinach dip was rich, creamy, and dangerously good, and the garlic knots were next-level tasty. Warm, garlicky, and impossible to stop eating. Zero regrets. For the main event, we ordered two pizzas: one Detroit-style (Red Top) and one regular pizza. And wow. Just... wow. The cheese pull on these beauties was absolutely ridiculous, the kind that deserves a slow-motion video. The pizza itself was phenomenal. The crust was crispy yet perfectly chewy, the cheese was hot, melty, and gloriously stringy, and the sauce actually had flavor (which shouldn't be rare, but somehow is). To top it all off, our server was fantastic. Super friendly, genuinely funny, and great with everyone at the table, which always makes the experience even better. Bottom line: incredible pizza, great vibes, awesome service. I would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation. It will not disappoint... unless you hate good pizza, in which case, this place is not for you.
