Was in town for a gaming tournament and surprised to stumble across this Asian/Chinese buffet that advertised sushi and hibachi. It was a Sunday early afternoon lunch and the place was moderately busy. I ordered a water and service was quick and no frills. Food variety/selection was excellent and nothing that I wanted to try was empty/awaiting refill. I had multiple pieces of sushi and there were many fish and seafood hot dish options as well. What stood out the most about this place was the cheap prices along with the quantity and quality of their food, and I will definitely return if I'm in the area again.

First here time on a Sunday. Got here right at 11 AM when they opened. No surprises here - everything was clean, organized, hot and ready to go. They even had Cajun Crawdad Boil!? Their fried chicken wings and legs just could be the best in town! And, as always, the sushi was fresh and tasty!

They were so awesome to make us vegan a tofu with mixed vegetables dish on request!

I came here because my wife was scouring for a buffet place ever since COVID, of course many buffet places are going extinct which is a blooming shame. Amazingly she found this place in Jackson. We pursued this proverbial dodo and had to check it out. They handled the safety measures for eat here very well. They require masks and provide gloves to wear whenever you approach the buffet lines and you can remove your masks at your table to eat. It's a typical buffet place, selections were many but as vegans there wasn't much to choose from other than potatoes, rice, Lo Mein noodles, veggie sushi rolls, green beans, spring rolls, fries, salad, and fruit. I wondered if they had any tofu dishes...so I asked the waitress who was very kind if it was possible to get a tofu with mixed vegetable dish because we were vegan. She said they could make it and went to the chef and after a few minutes brought out the dish we requested. Now that's service! It made this place worth while and definitely worth coming again. Although with the CoViD measures preventing from dining in, I hope this will not be the last time that we can dine here.

Our family's go-to for Chinese food especially in Jackson. I love coming here and getting tons of Sushi. For the price you can't beat it. I used to hate how my dad wanted to come here 1 to 2x a week which always upset me. Now since he passed away it's a place of good memories of my father. My son loves coming here for that exact reason. "Papa's Favorite Place"

Went after the first reopening, there were lots of protective items, free gloves, masks available for purchase at a very reasonable $0.50. Staff wore gloves, face masks and face shields and were diligent in cleaning surfaces. Other patrons did not necessarily follow the posted rules. The buffet overall was cheap, mostly a cheap way to get full. The sushi was below average, the sushi bar was poorly stocked and much of it was filled with rice and cucumber, as expected at this price point and locale. The food in general was very heavy and greasy, and didn't provide much in the way of more fresher foods like steamed vegetables... most buffet items were fried items. Individual portion size ice cream was a nice touch, the orange sherbet is my favourite. I think most patrons know what to expect here.

When the meetings finally ended, we were starving and in desperate need of real food. Surprisingly (and slightly concerning), this was one of the only restaurants around. The area itself is pretty quiet, mostly hotels and a few food spots, so when you find a good one, you commit. From the moment we walked in, the host greeted us warmly, which was already a great start. Since this is a teppanyaki spot, we were seated at a shared table they were working to fill, standard hibachi rules apply. While waiting, we ordered drinks because... obviously. I went with the lychee martini (pronounced Lie-chee, not Lee-chee, gotta respect the fruit LOL), and my colleague ordered the sweet plum. Both were delicious, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. Next came the must-haves: edamame and gyoza. No notes. Just solid, comforting appetizers that did their job while we waited for the main event. With our meals, we were served the consommé soup and the salad with ginger dressing, and let me just say, that ginger dressing deserves its own fan club. So good. Once the table filled up, the show began. Flames, flair, knife skills, and all the hibachi magic you hope for. The chef was super entertaining and clearly knew how to keep the energy up. The staff overall was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel fun and welcoming. Bonus points for the fact that I spoke the language, which led to a mini conversation about why I was randomly in the middle of Michigan, always a fun topic. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Good food, great service, and a much-needed post-meeting morale boost. If I ever find myself back in that part of Michigan, I'd absolutely come back, hopefully with fewer meetings next time.

Read the menu carefully…read more I ordered the Spicy Salmon Hand Roll thinking it was the Spicy Salmon Roll (which is in the Hand Roll section) - same price. I left and went home and didn't realize I got the Spicy Salmon Hand Roll (a wrapper cone with the salmon inside; doesn't have rice). Called thinking they had made a mistake and explained to the owner who then comped me. The owner calls back and then explains that because it was my fault they wouldn't comp me. I called again after reviewing their online menu to confirm and explain how it was confusing and was offered to be comped after I pointed out a price difference. I declined as I probably won't be back. Just felt like the manager/owner could have at least sympathized with having to drive 20 minutes there/back again ‍

The Alaska roll is weird but delicious. Who would think that baked mozzarella would be good in a sushi roll. Everything was delicious and service was great. Love the special creamy ginger salad dressing too.

You can tell they really put a lot of time and thought into just the right menu to create a good mix for any palates. Steaks, pasta, seafood, and specialty entrees. The dessert menu was normal but everything was excellent. Full bar, appropriate live music and intimate booths. It's was prom night when we visited. The bathroom floor was littered with sequins and glitter. It was lovely to see all the pretty girls and dresses. Thankfully our visit was 5:15pm and ahead of the crush. The service was exceptional. We never waited or wondered where she was and she was taking care of it before we knew we needed it. The spinach artichoke dip had a kick and too much lemon but good size. My bone-in ribeye was good but my husband expensive filet was way over cooked. Asked for medium and he got well done. Everyone else raved about their food. The prices here are really high. Our party of 5 cashed out at $465 with tip. The Chophouse prices but not that level of quality. I'm including this so whomever sees this can manage expectations. Drinks have no price but bar tab showed each regular cocktail was $15. MiL was impressed and since it was Mother's Day dinner, glad we chose Veritas.

I think Daniel Martin might have an ongoing residency at Veritas on select dates, since I've seen tickets go on sale for shows over several months. The show was entertaining, and we liked Daniel! (I will say that nothing in the show truly stumped us, but nonetheless it was fun.) The show does seem sell out quickly when tickets are released! Afterwards, we both ended up getting the surf and turf for dinner and enjoyed every bite. The truffle potato puree was delicious, and the seasonal vegetables for us were these really crispy and perfectly dressed brussels sprouts. The lobster tail was a litttle bit chewy (slightly overcooked?) but still very tasty. The menu's on the pricier side, but there's a good variety of yummy sounding options. We had instructions from our event email to park in the back of the restaurant, in the black lot. I think it's permit only for certain hours, but worked well for us and the evening hours we were there. The ambiance in the restaurant is very nice. I would consider Veritas a nice option for an occasion dinner.
