I was baffled by all the positive reviews until I saw those that had a similar experience to mine (see the 1 star reviews)! She was not friendly in the least. I never saw one smile, and her place feels and looks dirty. We were 5 minutes late and even called to tell her. When I walked in, she just looked at me. I introduced myself and said my daughter was coming from the car; she went to the door and crossed her arms, waiting for her to come.....so I asked if she wanted me to go ahead and put on my dress? While putting it on, she asked rudely if I was almost done....I thought, "Maybe a little help here would speed this up?" Rude--red flags #1. After we both tried on our dresses and she gave the laundry list of alterations, she said it was my decision but that I didn't seem sure I wanted to keep my wedding dress. I agreed and said to give me a week to decide. She was just staring at us in awkward silence with an annoyed look, so I asked if she needed to put pins in my daughter's dress before she took it off. Super awkward and unfriendly--Red flags #2. After we got dressed, she shared the price, which was more than I paid for either dress. Again I said I needed to think about it and get back to her. She began yelling at me, asking why I hadn't said anything before, looking at her watch and telling me she'd spent all this time....Extremely unprofessional--Red flag #3!! I responded that I also had spent my time and that she had a bad attitude and it was bad business. It is my decision whether I want to utilize her services and especially given the cost was more than the dresses. I would NOT recommend her to anyone. No bride needs that additional stress! read more

Mahla at AK Tailor is the absolute best in the Southwest! I went to her first several years ago for a bridesmaid dress and have gone to her for multiple occasions since. Most importantly she altered my wedding dress! It was lace with sequins and she did an AMAZING job and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dress! She knew exactly how to take in my dress and made it look like my dress was meant to be, including altering the neckline. Also, I had lost about 20 lbs from when I bought the dress to when I had it altered and she made this dress fit me perfectly. It was absolutely stunning and I loved every minute in my dress! Since my wedding I've been in several other weddings, she always makes the experience effortless and answers all my questions. I was extremely happy with the service and quality of work I received. I had a dress for a wedding that needed to be shortened from a full gown ( the shipper sent the wrong length) to a hem right below the knee. It had 4 layers to the dress, and Mahla had to shorten and hem each layer. It also had a built in cape, which she had to modify in order to take up the torso of the dress. It was quite difficult with the cape, but she did and excellent job. I would highly recommend her for any type of alterations. Be sure to give her enough time if the project is involved! read more

Would not recommend if you have an elaborate dress!!!!! My sister has a beaded wedding dress that needed to be altered and when she picked up the final product after 2 months, it still did not fit her correctly at all (particularly in the lower back area), she had sewed the dress OVER the beadwork, and there are HOLES in her dress (see pictures). I was honestly appalled. When we took the dress back to AK to discuss the holes and the extra fabric in the lower back area. She was not understanding at all and became very defensive, stating she "did not accept" what I was showing her. She insisted that we were being unfair by asking for at least part of our money back. She insisted that it was our fault, when we had not touched the dress until 20 minutes before going back to AK's immediately to show her. Looking back at the photos we took earlier in the process, we were able to identify one of the holes very clearly in the dress while it was in Mahla's care. She also added straps to my sister's strapless dress!!!! Without asking! I can't begin to understand what she was thinking. We will be taking my sister's dress to Laura's Bridal to be altered, they do an amazing job there. read more
