Street sign table markers are cute
Susan R.

Visiting family in the area, and after spending the day at Fort Riley, i decided to check out Manhattan, KS, aka The Little Apple. Took my Italian-American Boston self to AJ's to check out what their website states: "We use an authentic New York Italian recipe. To account for the differences between the Big Apple and the Little Apple, we have worked closely with Tom Lehmann "the Dough Doctor" and the AIB International. Tom is an authority and author in the pizza industry and a Manhattan, Kansas resident. He has been an invaluable resource in our quest to bring you the best NY style slice outside of NYC. To honor this recipe and the people involved, we use only the finest ingredients. If it is not used in the top NY pizzerias, it is not used at AJ's" I arrived just after the lunch rush and ordered the daily slice special ($7.50 for hot ham & cheese) with a fountain drink and decided on an order of garlic knots w/marinara dipping sauce. The knots were delightfully crunch-chewy and garlicky without being vampirish! My slice was huge and there was no skimping on mozzarella. My only criticism is that the "hot ham" circles (under the generous cheese) were not at all like the capicola I expected, but were more of a smoked Virginia ham, which didn't work for me taste-wise. The crust was pretty close to Neapolitan style, but not 100% New Yorkish. But for the Midwest, I'd say it was pretty darn close. If I'd been hungrier, I'd have tried a pepper & onion slice as well. The interior sports a checker taxi cab motif, and once you order at the counter, you're given a NYC street sign marker for a server to deliver to your table. Staff were all friendly and efficient!

The garlic knots were delicious and so was the pizza despite the pizza sauce being a bit sweeter than what've I liked to be. The calzone was delicious and it was worth the 15-minute wait. The inside is decorated like a NY-subway station sort of since the staff will bring out signs with NY street signs to mark your order if you dine-in.

Got this during their slice of the day special! 6.55 with a DRINK!!! Came out hot and fresh. Nothing can beat a good deal like this.

Ohhhh my these are some gooooood wings! Wings are a go to for me i usually just get buffalo or hot ones. I definitely recommend the barbecue ones. Pizza was good i liked how the pepperoni was under and above the cheese. We called ahead and had to wait a little more longer when we got there I'm sure cause they were extremely busy. Great vibes. Cashier lady was very nice and quick with other orders. Im from Texas but if your visiting the area this a place i definitely suggest if your by yourself or with a group! They do it all and well worth it.

First time here and dang why didn't I find this before graduation day?!?! First off , you MUST get the Cheese Bricks! Amazing!!! Cheese wrapped in bread and covered in butter and garlic, How could you go wrong? We also got the John Stamos and the 18th & 8th pizza's. The Stamos was my fav. We got an order of garlic knots as well but they were just so-so. I felt they needed more butter and garlic. This place is always busy. Lots of outdoor seating as well

Nice staff took my order and did fantastic. I was in town visiting friends and we were downtown and hungry slice of NY pizza in Kansas with beer...yes & yummy... Did order from front counter- got my food and it was piping hot after a short wait. My order was accurate and I definitely will return when in the situation of hunger and in the area. I really felt valued with my interaction with the staff. They were pleasant and smiling....that goes a long way! Thank you again for being awesome. Respectfully, Bryan Yukon Oklahoma

Ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, was absolutely awesome.Caesar Salad and Garlic Knots were also amazing!

Not quite NY style pizza. Maybe with a Midwest twist. But it was good. The sauce was ok, service was adequate

This review is for the eat-in experience, I cannot attest to the efficiency of the delivery. My…read morehusband and I came here for dinner Friday night around 6 pm and from the get go I was impressed by this place. It's like Cici's in concept only. First of all, the place actually has a specific concept and theme/design to match. The interior is decorated country style complete with cutsie signs and Hobby Lobby style wall ornaments (example: the restrooms are called outhouses). You pay when you first walk in and the ordering is very simple- there's a lunch price, a dinner price, a children's price, and a senior citizens price. The price includes a drink. There was also a sign that said military gets a 50% discount on Monday's. When I told the very friendly male cashier at the front that my husband and I had never been there before he gave us two specific recommendations: their fried chicken and one of their dessert pizzas called cactus pizza. Even if you don't like pizza you will find a very satisfying meal here. They have in effect four buffet areas- the savory pizzas, main hot dishes, a salad bar, and dessert pizzas/vanilla soft serve. The pizza was a 3.5/5. The crust wasn't stupendous in quality and overall the pizza was rather doughy. I didn't like their chicken bacon ranch, but the other two slices I had were quite good- the vegetarian and one with ground beef and onions. Those I would give 4/5. They had about 7 different choices and will make any pizza upon request if the one you want isn't available. Unusual to the standard pizza buffet was what I would deem an all American hearty meal buffet. This buffet had two types of chicken- fried and one with a sticky sweet sauce. I had the sticky chicken and would give it 4/5, it was quite good. My husband had the fried chicken and said it was more of a 3.5. There were also sides including mashed potatoes, corn, biscuits, and I believe another vegetable. The salad bar was also nice, there were about 10 different toppings including bacon, chicken, and lots of different veggies. The dessert buffet had five different dessert pizzas- the cactus bread reminded me of a toaster streusel with white sugar icing and came in different fruit flavor options. There was also another dessert pizza which had a similar construct, we tried an apple and cherry dessert pie and they were very satisfying with the food quality vanilla serve yourself soft serve ice cream. The service was also first rate, an employee went around the room ensuring patrons were fully satisfied and providing any assistance as necessary. This place seemed primarily seniors and families with kids, but I'll definitely be back! I thought the food overall was quite good and appreciated the decor and cleanliness of the place. The eating area and bathrooms were both quite clean.

The service was amazing! Could have a little different…read morevariety for pizza I think. Pasta was good, fried & chicken great! And desserts were good. I recommend a different lettuce for salad buffet, but overall was 7/10!
