While I have never been to the physical store, I have ordered delivery from AJ's multiple times as it is close to my office. Everything I have ordered so far have been pretty good, I have not had anything that tasted bad. My favorite so far, is the hot veggie wrap. The wrap is filled with a generous amount of cooked veggies and melted cheese. It's a good option for lunch because it's not too heavy and wouldn't induce a food coma. The buffalo chicken options will also never go wrong, the buffalo chicken tenders, salad and wrap are commonly ordered items in our office. Other items that my coworkers rave about are the chicken stir-fry wrap, the tuna melt (too much bread/too heavy for my liking - but the tuna was good), roast beef wrap. read more

I stopped in to AJs for the first the today, and I have to say it was pretty good. I was disappointed that they did not have any steak tips available, my first choice, but I ended up ordering a chicken cutlet sub with roasted red peppers. The cutlets were good, and I liked the bread as well. Probably could have used more veggies, but I'd just order it a little differently next time. The place is small but it's clean and very nice inside. The menu is on 5 large bright monitors. It seemed like all the customers knew each other. Always a good sign when it's a favorite of the locals. Prices seemed reasonable, under $10 for a large sub and soda out of the fridge. The staff was a little frantic with the high traffic around lunch time, but they still took the time to bring my food out to me instead of just calling me up to the counter. My boyfriend and I ordered a decent amount of food our steak and cheese calzone had no cheese in it, our chicken and broccoli Alfredo had one piece of broccoli literally one piece and our fries were ice cold... I've spent somewhere between $900-$1k here in the last 6 weeks between a family party, work events, and regular ordering... The food is good but this place is money hungry. The first $300 order, I was supposed to get a free pizza and didn't. The delivery guy said he'd talk to them, never heard a thing back. When I placed the second order which cost $400, I inquired about the online promo for buy 4 pizzas and get one free (I didn't have the coupon which I should have but still could bring because the order hasn't gone through yet) and she said "And I'll ask about the free pizza for you." Seriously? When someone spends $400 I feel like employees should just honor a promotion with or without having something printed. Furthermore, I ordered an Italian sub tonight and gave them my boyfriends number because he was picking up the order. Go figure, they ran out of bread... they called him and asked if they could put it on a wrap (he said yes, ugh)... Disappointed to say the least, not so much because it's on a wrap (which isn't ideal) but they charged the same price for a pile of meat in a wrap half the size of a sub & added tomatoes when I specifically asked for none. That's the least of my issues though. I've also had the wrong sub delivered before too but no worries, no compensation and they made sure to take back the wrong sub and deliver it to the appropriate person, I'm sure. Good thing I opened it and luckily for the next person eating it, I didn't touch it. I get that businesses need to make money but I'm going to find somewhere else to give a bunch of money to. If you want a place that makes all there food in house come here! Bread (sub rolls) are delicious! So light and fluffy but in no way filling. Perfectly cooked bread. Tasted as fresh as could be. Staff on point and eager to help and answer any questions. Only problem here.... deciding what to eat. Highly recommend this place! Saw that they won a "Sandie" award from Phantom Gourmet for their meatball sub. I love a good meatball sub and use that and a chicken Parm as a way to rate a sub shop. So I drove over from Saugus to try it out. Wasn't worth the drive. If I remember right they showed the sub to be on a braided roll and it wasn't, I got a plain sub roll. Also looked like it had a lot of cheese too, mine didn't. And strike 3 are the meatballs. Not all that flavorfull. Almost plain if that's even possible. Don't know how they won this " award" but I've had better. read more

I am baffled as to how this place is still in business. The food is so-so. It's the service that I can't stand. First of all the set up of the place has no workflow. People working there seem to me in eachothers way all the time. Trays, boxes, food stacked everywhere. Pizza making station is messy, oven and fryer areas are very sloppy and busy. You call for 1 large cheese and I get "45 minutes" over the phone. I say forget it and hang up. Young high school kids working there are poorly trained and the owner always looks pissed. I went to Aj's today to attempt the "Godfather Challenge". The Godfather is a 2' long Chicken Parm Calzone with 10 Chicken Breasts in it, as well as extra cheese and extra sauce, and weighs in at over 5lbs. The meal costs $22. If you are able to finish it within 1 hour, the meal is free AND you get a free T-shirt. The Calzone tastes excellent, but it was too much of a good thing for me. I was able to eat 8 out of the 10 pieces. All of the staff was extremely friendly, and I could tell they were pulling for me to finish this beast of a meal. I don't know what people are talking about when they insult the service at this restaurant. They were quick to help me, and the meal was prepared in a timely manner as well. The dining area isn't very large (can sit maybe 16-20 people) and the parking lot isn't huge, but those are small gripes considering how excellent the food and service is. read more

Everyone is correct about the fresh sub rolls, and if that's all you want out of this place then go for it. They will nickle and dime you so you end up paying $9.00 for a sandwich if you want ,say "fresh mozzarella". OK, so now to the bad stuff: DO NOT EVER try to eat their Sauce (gravy). I made the mistake of ordering a pasta dish and it was absolutely horrible. I don't what the hell they put in it but it almost tasted of nutmeg...Very strange and not pleasant. Ok, so my Boss brings in lunch once in a while. We've had Aj's before, and it was just ok...I've had their pizza, which was not the best, and spaghetti with meatballs which was again, just ok. My Boss comes in to me today, with a list of items to order from Ugh, AJ's, and I was to order what ever I wanted. I know not to get pizza or Spaghetti and meatballs, so I go online for a menu....site is down.. I called AJ's and asked for a menu to be faxed......fax is broken. Recently I ordered catering from AJ's. Since I have always been happy with their food I thought this a no brainer. First the customer service was not impressive: no smiles or friendlieness. The order was late and I had to call looking for it. I got the lemon pepper chicken on rice pilaf - Bland and very oily. Chicken, broccoli on ziti - bland and also oily. Sausage, onions and peppers - very good. Baked ziti - good. All and all these were easy dishes I could have made much better then AJ'sexcept for time constraints. Best ive ever had and I've eaten alot of chicken fingers. I order them with my lunch to eat for dinner when I'm lazy.
