We are frequent patrons and have been for a dozen years. Basically had every item on the menu and continue to go due to great food and especially the service. Writing this to give Lisa our bartender a shoutout. Never seen a harder working person. When she's not serving patrons she doing dishes running food to tables. Very basic and not very high quality American food. Vibe: Very outdated furnishing, dim lighting. Service: Server was quick, food took a little bit but we were a party of 5. Food: Complimentary cornbread and butter - probably the best part of the meal, very moist and sweet. Bang bang shrimp - tasty, good texture, came with garlicky bread which was soft and tasty. Bourbon beef tacos (2) - very sweet sauce, not the best overall, I chose beets as my side and it was literally cubed beets with no dressing or seasoning or anything. Value: Less expensive than most food these days but definitely low quality to match. Overall was a pretty underwhelming meal in a restaurant with a wholly unappealing vibe. read more

Traveling a little more now and so we made a pit stop to eat and found this place. Kickin it off with the queer o meter.... 10! Nice! Nice atmosphere, with the horse ambiance and the fall settling in. The service folks were nice and accommodating. I got the Korean rice bowl and added shrimp. My wife got the chicken ceasar wrap. She didn't care for the wrap and said it was a little dry with no croutons to give it some crunch. So not overly impressed. But the fries were hot and crispy and deeeelish! And the corn bread with cinnamon butter spread was amazing. I could've eaten just that! Mine was nicely presented and the flavors were good. Overall the two dishes we got were a solid "fine", however I would caution anyone going to check the menu and pricing first. It comes with a hefty price tag. We are usually big fans of "The Shoe", however when we tried their recent Thursday night steak tip special, we were disappointed. Ordered medium, they were VERY red, but the main problem was they were drenched in their very sweet barbeque sauce. I asked the waiter for future reference can they be ordered without the sauce ? He said yes they can be ordered with the sauce on the side. In fact, he admitted that he likes them that way and he apologized for not asking. The 12oz. portion was very generous and we were pleased with the sides, but that sweetness prevented us from ordering any dessert. read more

We came here for a late lunch and not only was the food delicious, the service was the best service we've ever had. Jaclyn B was the kindest, most empathetic, and efficient server. She made sure we felt welcome and took time out of her day to talk to us. All the words in the world can't describe how sweet she is. By the end of our lunch, we all felt like we knew her. This was the first time I visited the restaurant on the suggestion of a colleague. We met for drinks and dinner. Everything was terrific from the greeting at the door, the wait staff and the delicious food. There are a lot of seating options which is great given the nice weather. I felt so welcomed as I walked in and the host was so kind in offering us options for a booth or table. Our waitress, Olivia, was such a wonderful waitress! She was so sweet and we had a great time. The dumplings appetizer was really good. The drinks are even better! I got a lobster roll for $20 and it was very good and came with homemade chips. The Horseshoe Grille has lost its fastball, since the family sold it. New owners have jacked up food prices, and they ( again) have done away with trivia Thursday. An example of the food, I ordered their Mac and cheese with Buffalo chicken, and the dish was decidedly lacking one of the three key ingredients, cheese. The atmosphere itself hasn't changed, but the servers have a decided edge to their personalities. I can only guess this is something that comes from the top. The service itself is good... but there are undertones of resentment present in the staff. I hope they are being treated well. As a North Reading resident, I like to support the local businesses, but Horseshoe Grille has lost me as a customer. read more

Came here for a company lunch. Very popular place for new hire lunches too. They start you off with cornbread. Cornbread is not bad, the better spread they have is pretty good. Only issue is the bread is so hard you can barely spread it on the cornbread. The meatloaf was ok. Didn't expect much. But the mashed potatoes were extremely disappointing. Supposed to be garlic mashed potatoes, there was 0 garlic taste. Instead the potatoes tasted a little sour, almost tasted like they were slightly bad. The bartender was very pleasant and friendly she was very knowledgeable about the beers on tap and very good service. My husband and I were looking for a local place to eat near Reading and this came up. We had such a great time here with one of the best nachos ever (they didn't over sauce nor over cheese it.) I had a grilled meatloaf and it was quite tasty, I needed extra gravy though. When we finished the foods, the manager came by to introduce himself and gave us a thank you letter from the owner since we were first timers. I thought that was a very nice touch. The server was also sweet and attentive. Go out and support this family own business. It has nice ambiance, friendly service, and those who work there take a lot of pride in it!!
