She said she was going to try to get it done when it's not busy, so I didn't have much hope. She called me back after 3-4 hours to let me know it was done and I was so surprised and thankful that she was able to finish it. Really appreciated it! Then, about three weeks before the visit, I fell and fractured three ribs--the 7th, 8th, and 9th on my left side. I called to reschedule, and my appointment was pushed back another 2 1/2 months or so. In the meantime, I fell again and broke my 3rd rib on the right side. I am 80 years old, and all of this has been causing me tremendous stress and pain. Now, my appointment with Dr. Rohra is just two weeks away. I was getting my information together and planning to bring it with me, since this would be our first meeting. Then someone from his office called and asked if I planned to attend. I told her yes. But instead of moving on, she began lecturing me--saying that I had canceled the last time, that there were many people on the waiting list, and so on. I received a long scolding simply for having rescheduled my previous appointment. After hanging up, I found myself wondering what that was all about. Then I thought: why am I being spoken to like a child for rescheduling? It wasn't last minute. The appointment was still weeks away. The more I thought about it, the less I liked it. So I decided to cancel altogether. If that's the kind of staff Dr. Rohra puts in charge, I don't want to see him at all. I am a patient, not a beggar. I don't need to be treated like that. I haven't even met the doctor yet. I am too old to be insulted in this way. This is very poor manners. Why is that woman working in a doctor's office?

My wife has been on my ASS for five plus years about getting my butt in to see a Doc. Recently I have run out of excuses and my wife made an appointment for me. I didn't have a regular doctor so my wife did her research and thought Dr. Chen would be the one for me. He is Board Certified which I don't know what exactly that means, but supposedly it's a good thing. He is accepting new patients which at the time of the appointment was a bad thing. His office is close by our house which again is a good thing. Wait time in the lobby is kept to a minimum....if you stop and think about it, this can be a bad thing. He completed his undergrad at Brown which is the same school as my sister in-law, good thing? So how was my first visit? It was painless and strangely enjoyable. It turns out we had many common interests and has a broad knowledge beyond just the medical world. Her words with respect to Caro's opinion: to a carpenter, everything looks like a hammer. Dr. Caro could also not offer any real explanation for present symptoms, but cautioned me to not ride my bike, my primary mode of transport, for the duration. It all felt a bit like guess-work, a.k.a. what I'd been doing in the confines of my own home prior to seeking treatment. A return visit to Dr. Caro is now not forthcoming. The two receptionists I dealt with were, sort of, two sides of the same coin: one was personable, efficient & present; the other one had an off-putting, distracted manner. The best bit was when she coughed directly & at length into the telephone receiver after asking me a question. Spoiler alert: I had to repeat the answer. After getting the usual who-are-you info. out of the way, I was told this: you'll be asked for a urine sample, so come prepared! I took that to mean that there would be no water fountain in the office & I had better schlep my own water to the appointment-which I did. Upon entering the office, I immediately saw a water cooler set up with cups for patients' use & I thought to myself, duh, it's a urologist's office, dummy. In addition to being told to come prepared, I was also told (in response to my direct question) that this office does indeed accept Blue Cross. My scheduled visit, not two days later, included the following information: as it's the beginning of the year, you may or may not receive a bill for our services. We may or may not be in network (for Blue Cross users). Had I known that at the outset, I would have gone elsewhere. -not keen to potentially pay up to 300 bucks for a urine test/urethra check. The office space itself was tidy & welcoming. --magazines, background music, art on the walls, etc. The medical building is easy to find, located in downtown San Mateo. Dr. Caro's office is located on the ground floor. Bike parking is ample.

Then there's a mandatory waiting period before the operation (to avoid buyer's remorse?). The operation itself was brief and relatively painless. I only felt the needle for the first Novocaine shot, and I've felt worse shots at the dentist. The procedure lasted about 45 minutes, just the doctor and me, chatting and listening to music. This is way preferable to the woman's equivalent operation, which involves an OR, anesthesiologist, serious recuperation, etc. When I got home I applied ice packs (OK, frozen peas) as instructed and didn't have any swelling and only minor pain. The scars immediately after the surgery looked pretty bad, and some bruising developed. I'm kind of glad it was a holiday the day after the procedure, but I was back to work (sitting at a computer) two days after. I felt OK, but took it easy and didn't climb stairs for a few days. The bruising disappeared in a week and the scars took about three weeks to completely disappear. The stitches dissolved and didn't require another visit to take out. Full, um, function returned in a week as the doctor estimated. Dr. Caro is friendly and professional, and obviously knows his stuff. I'd recommend him to anyone contemplating this procedure.

He is patient, detailed and thoughtful in answering questions and has a really great memory when it comes to family and medical history. There are many great things to say about Dr. Young, however there are some drawbacks to having a…read moregood Dr. First with the drawbacks. Since he is good, you almost never get an appointment when you need it. He can be booked out as far as 2 months in advance! This didn't help if you have a medical concern that may get worse with time. Another drawback, the waiting period once you get an appointment. Because Dr.Young is thorough, you can end up waiting up to an hour past you scheduled appointment time. This means...don't have plans after your appointment because you'll probably be late. All these drawbacks are based of something good, so onto the good. Like I mentioned before, he's good at what he does so he's highly requested and thorough. He takes his time with each patient and you never feel like he's rushing your visit because he's running behind. He has no problem referring you to specialists if he/you feel like that's what you really need. His office staff is very efficient at getting those referrals out and checking you in and out. Overall, Dr. Young is good at what he does. He cares about his patients, but that can be a drawback, which isn't totally his fault. Yes he could move a little quicker through his visits, but I'd rather a thorough Dr. than a half ass one...I'm just saying.

The hand surgeon asked my father to be cleared for surgery by his cardiologist. My father has dementia and Dr Lin thought it was appropriate to yell at him that he was a heart doctor and waa not the person to approve the surgery. We won't be back and have escalated the situation to the hospital.
