Dr. Pandya is a lovely, personable doctor who sees you in a timely manner, spends sufficient time with you and is focused while he is examining you. I have been his patient for several years and have seen him in all of his offices including in the past when he was at Stanford. He has done at least two bronchoscopies on me, maybe three and were much better than one of my earlier experiences with someone which was very unpleasant. His staff is pleasant and efficient to work with. read more

Doctor Pandya is clock in clock out. He does not care about treating patients. He has enough old people for whom he can write DME prescriptions and keep charging. He didn't try to solve any of my conditions for two years which were pretty simple. I suffered so much because of his lack of ethics and professionalism. After two years he prescribed a stimulant which I didn't need at all. Luckily I met another pulmonologist around that time and that pulmonologist said please hold on the medication. He was always around an hour late and then he would be behaving like he has to catch a flight. read more

This doctor is always late and in a rush to get out. Does not make good eye contact. Does not explain test results to the patients's level of understanding. Needs to be prodded to explain further. Seems disconnected, dangerous in fact. Situation: Bronchoscopy was scheduled. Husband already in preop. Anesthesiologist recommended not to go through with the procedure because risk of cardiac episode. No apology and was dismissive about it. read more

After 19 months spent ruling out any other possible causes, there is now no question that Dr. Chirag Panda's lack of caring & commitment delayed my treatment for severe sleep apnea & also resulted in my nearly being killed AS A DIRECT RESULT of his negligence. 1. First saw Pandya Jan. 2017. Told him I'd been on CPAP for 10 yrs. but a change of insurance & a problem with a new DME provider forced me to do without for about 2 yrs. Told him I was regularly falling asleep while on my computer, not waking up till my head hit the keyboard. He said I had to wait a month to get a sleep study; said there were no earlier openings (I later learned that wasn't true, esp. if he'd put a STAT on the order). After 3 cancellations (2 by me, 1 by his staff), I finally had study done but had to wait an add'l month to get the results, even though he already had them & knew I had severe apnea & required CPAP. 2. April 2017. Went to Pleasanton follow-up appt. Walking toward building, a man who looked like Dr. Pandya passed me by; but we had an appt., so that couldn't be him, right? When I got to the office at 11:52am, I was told my appt. was for 11:45am (I thought it was for noon)--so Dr. Pandya assumed I was a no-show (7 minutes late?) and he left for lunch. I was livid & INSISTED on an appt. at his Livermore office that afternoon (where he informed me he knew it was me he'd passed in that parking lot but said nothing & kept on going to lunch anyway.) 3. While waiting in Pandya's Livermore office, I fell asleep on his exam table & fell off. Luckily, my foot caught in an arm chair or I would have hit the floor hard & injured myself. His response upon my relaying this story: a sheepish smile. Not a word. 4. Pandya told me I had sleep apnea (big surprise) but that I couldn't have my machine that day because his special CPAP lady had to train me on it. I've had CPAP for over 10 yrs.; anyone can be trained to demo a new model of CPAP machine, and the demos take all of 10-15 minutes. Well, not according to Pandya. I offered to get a machine from Pleasanton & bring it out to Livermore for HIM to show me how to use it. Nope--it HAS to be done in Pleasanton, and THE magic CPAP girl is gone for the day. (She HAD been there during my original appt.--you know, while Pandya was skipping out to lunch.) 5. Disgusted over having hours of my time wasted & still getting nothing accomplished, I decided to reward myself with a scenic mountain drive. Now, maybe I should've known better than to go driving at that point; however, I "felt" refreshed from my little "table nap", and when you're that tired, your judgment can be a bit off (hindsight is 20/20). So it would have been nice for Pandya to have cautioned me about very carefully driving straight home or even having someone come pick me up. He did neither. 6. I crashed on Mines Rd. south of Tesla Rd. approx. 2 hours later, where a strand of trees & a barbed wire fence saved me from going off a 100-150 foot drop. I had never seen a road like this before: sheer cliffs going straight up on one side & sheer drops down the other; incredibly steep, extraordinarily narrow, no shoulders so nowhere to pull over for a nap, and no possible way to turn around. It's a miracle that I wasn't killed & that I didn't kill anyone else; the accident caused $8000 of damage to my car. 7. After more than a year of being seen by a new pulmonologist (who put me through 3 sleep studies), 3 neurologists, a cardiologist & epilepsy experts (incl. an in-patient epilepsy study conducted at Stanford), there is absolutely no question that I indeed fell asleep behind the wheel solely due to the affects of sleep apnea--the reason I'd gone to see Dr. Pandya in the first place. So had Pandya arranged my sleep study & CPAP machine in a timely manner & taken 2 seconds to caution me as to just how dangerous my medical situation had become with regard to driving, my accident likely would have never occurred. My current team & I are still fine-tuning things so that I may, at some point, be able to drive safely once again. And I can assure you Dr. Pandya couldn't care less about any of this. Unless, of course, news of it were to disturb his lunch. read more

My wife suffered a persistent cough so we went to Dr. Chirag Pandya Clinic in Pleasanton (affiliated with the Valley Care System/Stanford Medicine) in April 2018. The front desk clerk was quite new, inexperienced and did not know how to input new patient data into their computer system well. It took us almost 45 minutes to get through the new patient registration. After that we waited for another 30 minutes, finally Dr. Pandya was able to see my wife, that was more than one hour past her appointment time. Dr. Pandya seemed to be in a rush to go somewhere else, he only spent less than 5 minutes with my wife (although she was a new patient to him) and did not care to do much explanation and consultation. Further, the Insurance charge was outrageously high (more than $550 for an office visit that lasted less than 5 minutes)!! I called my insurance company and then Stanford Medicine to complain. Stanford Medicine finally agreed it was a coding error from the Doctor's office for the expensive charge. The charge was then reduced to slightly less than 400, which was still pretty high for a less than 5-minute office visit. I am giving an one-star for the positive attitude of Dr. Pandya's nurse in the clinic and Stanford Medicine's willingness to listen to my concerns. read more

I do not know what was going on with Dr. Pandya's Pleasanton office. My experience with them is very negative. I had my sleep study more than a month ago and they were not able to order me a breathing device until now. I got all kinds of excuses like something wrong with my insurance company and the doctor needed to write them a letter etc. They never called and informed me about what was going on and I had to chase them down. I found that they confused me with other patient and have no idea where my paperwork went (or leaked) to. When I insisted to call the providers myself, one provider claimed that they never placed my order with them and other provider claimed that they just placed the order a few days ago. I talked to my insurance company and they told me that they did not receive a claim until a few days ago the same time line with the second provider. I had complained numerous times to Dr. Pandya and his Pleasanton office manager. I warned my primary doctor not to refer patients to them. I am glad that my primary doctor office is more caring and responsive than Dr. Pandya's office. read more
