I called Ajax Tree Service out twice. Once to remove a large tree branch that was suspended on our power lines which Steve removed like it was nothing at all. I was so impressed with Steve and his charming wife and the reasonable prices they quoted me that I had called them in a second time to remove a very large tree in my back yard. Not an easy job to say the least as the tree was right up against my garage and the cable and power lines were in and under it. Well they took care of taking down that tree and did it professionally and quickly. The 40 foot tree was quickly trimmed, cut down, chipped and hauled away in about 4 hours. They cleaned my back yard, the neighbors courtyard and the alley where there trucks and equipment were sitting for those 4 hours. They are very hard working, honest, reasonably priced and very friendly. I am so glad that I called on Ajax Tree Service to take care of this problem for me and I will never use anyone else. I contacted AJAX to arrange for removal of 5 large tree stumps. Stumps are always difficult to remove--and in this case, we needed the stumps to be ground down at least 2" below grade so we could pave over them for a new patio. Steve came out within an hour or so after initial call--provided a fair quote--and came out the next day and removed the stumps. The removal process created a fair amount of sawdust and mulch and it was difficult to gauge how deep the removal went. Steve indicated that if any of the stumps were not ground down enough--he would come out and do it over--"just a phone call away" he joked. It turns out we did need additional work on one-and he was true to his word--he came out the next day and did the finish work without charge. I was really impressed! The fact is that few contractors today are trustworthy--but he was the best. The fact that he did this on memorial day weekend was even more amazing. great guy--great service--would recommend to anyone! read more

I looked at other reviewers comments before I called Steve from Ajax and I am so glad I did. First off, I called him on a Friday and within 40 minutes he came out to take a look. We then scheduled the work for that Saturday. He was prompt, personable, polite, knowledgeable and he explained all that he was going to do. This job was to get the overgrowth of what was coming over from my neighbor's tree into our condo courtyard patio area. The neighbor gave permission to climb the tree and also my neighbor used him to take down a lot more than what we had Steve do. His work was great. His clean up was great. I will definitely use him again and will tell my friends about him as well. Pricing was fair and reasonable. He and his partner Dan did a great job and were awesome to work with. I'm forever grateful for these men. Today my 5 month old cat got out threw our back door while letting our dog out . She ran up a pine tree to chase a squirrel. This tree is about 50 feet or higher, she was stuck all the way at the top and it's was raining and cold. She had to be out there for at least 4-5hours. we tried everything! Called 911 and the Fire Department no one will help us all we got was just put food out she will come down. My husband used good old google Thankfully we found this company! They were so nice and so understanding, these men have a family owned business for cutting trees down not rescuing cats but they came and saved us today! Steve definitely is a go-getter and ready to help! I called late in the afternoon on a Friday and he was reaching out on Sunday! I told him I noticed a 12 year tree in front of my house "looked dead", he had me send some pictures and was able to give me a quote based off of those. Not a huge diameter tree but it did go up 4 stories. Initially we made the appointment for Tuesday but on Monday he said he would be able to make it if I could - definitely! He and his helper came out and I have never seen such a methodical execution of leveling a tree into pieces. I'll bet they did it within an hour. Took longer to load up and remove the pieces of trunk and branches into his truck. Everything looks great and I'm no longer have the worry that the tree would fall onto my building. read more

What a great company! Ryan came out promptly to give us an estimate. He gave us a window of when he'd show up and stuck to it!! Not too many contractors do that. He also said he'd call me later and let me know when he could come out and take down a plum tree. He called when he said he would and he and Steve showed up promptly today to take it down. Ryan and Steve are such professional, courteous and kind young men. They gave us a great price and explained how to get rid of the remaining stump since their grinding machine couldn't fit inside our fence. Great job and great people! Steve and Andrea were wonderful. I called on a Sunday and the phone was answered immediately. Steve came out to give me a quote within the hour, we set an appointment for two days and because of a cancellation, we were able to have them come over the next day. The tree I had trimmed is on a small piece of land in my front yard. Although I liked the privacy the overgrown tree offered, Steve explained that the branches needed balance and proceeded to expertly cut the tree. It really looks great! Andrea was on hand to get rid of all the fallen branches and they left my front yard looking fantastic. I would highly recommend them to anyone and use their services again! read more

Steve and his wife were here the next day to take down my pine tree in my front yard. Hard to believe it was just the two of them. They did it and my yard looks beautiful. Ajax was great! Steve and his wife were very attentive from the moment I called them to get a quote until the job was complete! Very reliable- always on time, excellent communication, and very open about their insurance coverage. Fair, reasonable, honest quotes. Took care of business in a timely manner and made sure neighbors yards were cleaned up before they left. Ajax managed to do the job without any complaints or hesitations although they were working with a tight alley, small entrances/exits to property, and a small Chicago lot sandwiched between 2 large buildings. I found Steve, the owner of Ajax Tree Service, pretty much by accident. I was taking down a tree in my back yard when the chain on my chain saw broke. Driving to get new one, I happened to be behind Steve's truck in traffic. I jotted down the phone number on the truck, just in case I couldn't finish the job. I did get the tree down, but then there was the problem of the stump. So I called Steve, and he responded quickly. I called Steve yesterday and he came out within 20 minutes because he happened to be in the neighborhood. We discussed what needed to be done to the tree (not urgent), and he said he could come back tomorrow morning to do the trimming. He came out this morning bright and early! Our tree was tangled in our neighbor's wires and he was able to trim the branches without us needing to turn off the power. Job was done in about thirty minutes with a full clean up included. Very highly recommended. I called Tuesday morning and Steve came right away to give me an estimate. I was very satisfied with the estimate.
