Great date nite spot in Fort Greene with ample outdoor dining (heated) and cutely decorated intimate indoor space. I got the oxtail ravioli and my bf got braised short rib ragu. I'm not exaggerating in that I think this is the best pasta I've had since Italy. The noodles in the ragu are perfectly tender and they're the wider flat handle made noodles ; meat is so soft and flavorful. The oxtail was an exciting item I wanted to try and glad that I did because I never had anything like it. Bite-sized pockets of savory delight! The sauce is reminiscent of Asian Italian fusion and has a tiny tart aftertaste which I find refreshing. The staff were all very sweet and attentive. Little gems Caesar salad - delicious highly recommend Buratina, nothing special IMO. Burrata was very mediocre. Heirloom beets, also not very special Papardelle with veal shank Ragu - very heavy on the either thyme or rosemary. Not a fan Pasta al ferro - this was the seafood pasta. Tasty, good generous portion of shrimp and crab Oxtail ravioli - I know everyone raves about this dish but I was not a huge fan. I was really excited to try this place's dinner after enjoying their brunch a few times, but I was pretty disappointed. The service was fantastic which gets them a star, but the food was not good. Peach burrata: peaches were not ripe. Dish under salted across the board. Tuna crudo: tuna was mushy and almost warm Gnocchi special: I am not convinced my gnocchi was fully cooked. No exaggeration, this is fine dining. Now, it's a bit pricer than what we are used to in Brooklyn but it's worth every penny. (Also, it's not going to break your bank. lol). I was impressed from the moment I approached the restaurant. A friend was running late and I didn't have a reservation but they still seated me, while I waited. NYC restaurants never do that! The hostess was pleasant and the waitresses we had were kind and attentive. Then came the food. It's hard to make a bad choice at Aita and everything was delicious. My friends and I couldn't stop stealing bites from each other's plates. Just see attached photo. We didn't have to add any filter. The food speaks for itself. What a wonderful little place in Clinton Hill! The ambiance was perfect for a cool fall night. I would recommend making a reservation because when we called to talk to the host it seemed as though walk-ins were likely to not get seated in a busy weekend night. The food came out quickly and was AMAZING! We loved the strozzapreti as it was cooked to perfection. What is great about this place is that their menu is constantly changing so there will always be something new for you to try. We did get the peaches and cream dessert and we were not fans. The breakfast gives you a sampling of everything including a pancake with berry compote, bacon, eggs, home fries, salad I mean perfection. Incase you didn't know brunch is a staple in my Saturday as much as is possible. Today was no less than a good time. Usually whenever brunch is part of the day I choose the spot. My friends just know , it's what I do ! But this time my friend picked the place and I just showed up. I admit I was a little unsure only because I'm use to doing the findings. But my oh my I was not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious. I was so torn on what to get to the point where I will be going back atleast two more times to try 2 other dishes I had my eye on. I ended up going with the special of the day. A vanilla French toast with caramelized apples and walnuts with scrambled eggs with cheese, and mangalista bacon. Now I like bacon but I'm not a gotta have it all the time kind of girl. But THIS was some GOOD bacon. Everything was delicious. My friend cleaned and might as well have licked her plate. The service was great , servers were kind and they are CoVid friendly. You must make reservations for indoor or outdoor seating. We sat indoors today as the weather is changing in NY. But they will be placing heat posts outdoors very soon which is a good look . October 2020 update I'm very disappointed to write this review. My prior review was in draft mode for who knows how long (you can find it below). I've patronized Aita twice since COVID. First for take out in the summer. I ordered the oxtail burger to go. Got to the park and was disappointed to find home fries instead of regular fries and a somewhat soggy bun due to the poor packaging. The burger was packaged in a plastic container instead of a box that would allow some air to escape. I was pretty disappointed especially fresh off of cooking all my food for a few months, and eating quite well doing so. But my friends were happy with their orders, so I was open to returning. Fast forward to late September 2020, when my same friends from the park picnic and from the birthday and catch up dinners mentioned in the initial review draft below, suggested we dine al fresco after work. I meet them on a Friday early evening. Aita has carved out a nice dinning area on a side street, so we sat comfortably and ordered some drinks. Neither the wine nor martini pours were generous, but we still sat happily in good company. I ordered the oxtail burger and removed the top bun to enjoy. I was mid bite when my friend pointed and asked "what's that?" It looked like some type of wrapper was melted into the cheese on the burger. We call the waiter over who basically responded as though I had irritated him with the situation. Now, he always seems to be extra grumpy, so that may be his general temperament; regardless, I'm sure folks who've been to Aita quite a bit will know who I'm talking about. Anyhow, he asked me: what do you want to do? My friends and I were flabbergasted. Like what do you mean? So he ends up taking the plate away and eventually a fresh burger, prayfully without hidden non edible items arrives. At this point, my friends had finished their pasta dishes but I still dig in, open to salvaging my dinning experience. Though we ordered a final round of Negronis as our nightcap, we have decided not to come back to Aita. We'll be at our still-fave Olea or reserving a table at Miss Ada or some of the many great restaurants in the area. In this climate especially, decent customer service when spending hard-earned money for a dinning experience, is a non-negotiable. The old review : This review is long overdue. Low rating because the hostesses on Friday night around 6 were rude and one was making a snarky face while whispering into the ear of the other while I was talking to them. Definitely felt very judged. All I asked was how long the wait was for the open outdoor shelter area or indoor seating. They had a sidewalk seat available and I guess they didn't want to accommodate/be flexible. Except the whole time we dined there the outdoor shelter was empty. The Octopus was a bit slimy but the gnochetti and fusilli were pretty good. Their wine specials of the night (two whites) were tasty and our waitress was very nice. The cutest, yummiest Italian brunch I've had! I've regretfully only been here twice for brunch. I would love to go here for dinner one day. You must have their bombolones, they are adorable and delicious. The carbonara for brunch is everything. Carbs for brunch is always a success. A small cozy spot with great Italian food, a perfect spot for a small dinner get together with friends. Definitely not a place you would go to with your kids (not kid friendly) or people who need to consume large portions (small plates yo'). I came here for dinner with a few girlfriends and we ended up ordering a bunch of stuff to share. Also, since the plates and portions are small, we were able to try many dishes off their menu without feeling so stuff to the point of being sick afterwards. Yes, that can happen if your eye is bigger than your stomach and it's happened to me more than once. For starters we had their special stuffed zucchini blossoms, roasted kale salad, Burrata and octopus. The zucchini blossoms was ok, can't taste much else other than the cheese and the breading was way too thick. The kale salad was good, nicely flavored and you don't feel like you're eating a side of garnish. The burrata was good too but the Octopus was our favorite. The flavor was amazing and the octopus was cooked perfectly, not chewing or mushy. For our main, we had the rib eye, the grilled bass, and 3 pasta dish (one of their special) the gnocchi and the Bombolotti. The rib eye was cooked perfectly medium rare. The 3 pasta dishes was very good, nicely flavored, cooked al dente the way we liked it. The Grill bass was ok, nothing special compared to the other dishes we had. Overall, the food was great and the staff was super nice. I took away one star because it was 90 degrees outside and they didn't have AC or didn't turn it on. The night we strolled into this place, it was 1° windchill weather. We had a reservation for outside gazebo and after sitting for 2 minutes it was clear that it will be a very cold dinner. The staff was very accommodating and understanding. They lead us to a bar next door- The Mayflower. And a promise to get us a better table in about an hour. The Mayflower was an incredible bar. No menus. No eats. Just a cocktail bar where the bartender chats you up and makes you a cocktail per your palette. Our party had more of neat scotch drinkers and the barkeep let me taste a top shelf scotch before getting it. It was a very smooth experience. Now for Aita! I didn't know walking in on how the food would be, none of us has been there before and the first response on the google search had left me amused and curious. We ordered 3 appetizers for the table. Wagyu carpaccio. Roasted fall vegetables. Crocchette di baccala. Roasted veggies were amazing, and some of us went for second helpings. Wagyu Carpaccio was beautifully crafted with pomegranate acting as the perfect bridge between the Wagyu and the veggies. If raw red meat makes you queasy, maybe this isn't the option for you but for all the carnivore out there, try this out! But the show stopper was the Crocchette do baccala. We all took one and then found for the last one by butchering it on the plate. The sauce on the side was perfectly crafted to go with a white fish crocchette. Perfect appetizer to get us up for the main course. We all decide to get a plate for ourselves instead of doing family style since the portions were large. So, we went with Beef wellington & Oxtail burger. About the main course. Imagine cooking your beef to a perfect tenderness that it doesn't fall apart on the plate but the moment it touches your tongue- you barely have to chew. It was pan seared with layers on bacon on top and bottom giving it a perfect finish of crispness. My girlfriend and I were fighting till our last bite. Oxtail burger was all right too. I'm sure if you got it in itself it should shine. But in our opinion, it's like comparing the light from the Sun vs the moon. However, ask for the aioli sauce with your fries. You will not be disappointed. We both couldn't get enough. On a side note, I would highly recommend the Oxtail Ravioli, one of our friends got it and it looks delicious! We are definitely going back to try that and any of their 15 options. We went with the servers recommendation of a Chianti - 2015 Piemaggio Chianti Classico Riserva to wash it all down and it was a perfect pairing. PS. Aita was a nice find! Oddly enough, the Mayflower was on my list of bookmarks prior to Aita making it on. I suppose I came to Yelp via the drink scene, so that makes sense, but it seems silly to me now. But I can't really blame myself for aimless Yelp Brooklyn wandering. Last night was my first ever time in Clinton Hill--all uncharted territory. I didn't really know what I was looking for when I started my search for a dinner spot close to where my friend was playing a show. We wanted a place that was nice but not too fancy/expensive and a menu that was varied and fairly healthy. That's how I eventually landed on Aita. The food wasn't standout but everything was solid, the atmosphere was fabulous and the service (the water service particularly!) was great. All in all, a successful trip to Clinton Hill. Aita is primarily a walk-in only restaurant, as a number of small Italian spots are. We had to eat an early dinner on this particular night due to the timing of the show, so we had no problem getting a seat. Cute and quaint, kind of Roman-ish decor, subtly romantic and a warm vibe overall. Definitely a nice place for a date or a dinner/brunch with a few friends. Because Aita owns the Mayflower, I had to try a few cocktails here. I figured they had to be good. I ordered two of their original cocktails--one was called the "Farmhouse Gin" or something like that, the other one was a rye-based, more spirit-forward drink. I preferred the the gin-based drink, though the flavors were a bit too intense for me--not that well-balanced. Lots of sweet, lots of sour. The rye drink was just okay. I was looking for something that had a nice rye kick, and this tasted (and looked) kind of watered down. Food-wise, we split a few different dishes. After reading the Yelp reviews beforehand, we knew the portion sizes would be on the small side and planned accordingly. Though we weren't super hungry, popping over to a long show after our dinner wouldn't all us any additional eating time. Anyway, definitely pay attention to the specials--they are not to be ignored. Most of the time I like to stay true to the menu, but a few of the specials on this particular night sounded worthy of attention. Overall, the flavors were fresh and balanced. Nice use of summer veggies. The octopus was also served over some sort of pureed goodness. Not sure if it was chickpea-baed or cheese-based or tahini-based, but it was a delicious accompaniment. Special salad: arugula, asparagus, mushrooms, some kinds of cheese, lemon vinaigrette: A- Simple, fresh, light and yummy. Another good summer dish. Oxtail Ravioli: A As good as advertised. Admitted, because I'm gluten-free, I only tried one because anything more would wreck my stomach, but it definitely left me wanting more. Super flavorful and rich. Special fish: tuna steak, broccoli rabe, asparagus, some sort of sauce: A I wish I remembered every ingredient of this preparation, because this was a fantastic fish preparation. My husband and daughter and I tried this Italian restaurant tonight and couldn't have been more wowed by the food, cocktails and service! Amelia was exactly what you want in a server. Not only was she attentive and positive but she understood the menu so thoroughly that we were guided expertly in our order for dinner. The appetizers were a wonderful start - shaved artichoke salad and a squash special that was shockingly good. Primi Pastas are authentic and perfectly cooked and every ingredient so thoughtfully put together that you know you are experiencing the best creations from a knowledgeable and talented owner and chef. My mezzelune pasta were pockets of incredible goat ricotta, dandelion greens, spinach, Fava beans and brown truffle butter. A must order for sure. The spring pea gnocchi was meltingly good and the fresh squash added to the whole light deliciousness. The stinging nettles tagelierini pasta dish is loaded with vegetables like fiddleheads and kale and is the perfect dish for pesto lovers. Unfortunately we never made it to the wonderful sounding secondi dishes as dessert was on our minds. Amelia once again gave us detailed descriptions and recommendations which were perfect. The chocolate eggplant cake is fantastic and gluten free (no it doesn't taste like eggplant) just like a molten lava cake and the lemon tart not too sweet - just perfect. Have y'all been to Aita? It's a darling restaurant sitting unassumingly on a corner in Clinton Hill. It's across the street from a school playground and if you walked past mid week, mid day you'd probably be so distracted from the screams and laughter coming from across the street you'd walk right past this place. Aita isn't flashy. It's so charming with its big picture window; it's cozy dining room with small wood tables and exposed brick. There's a decent sized bar and intimate lighting and its kindof the perfect spot for a quiet lunch. It's meals are simple and scrumptious. The Spaghetti Carbonara is my favorite and it probably will be yours too. Al dente pasta in the most luxurious cheesy sauce and plenty of crispy pancetta. The portion is good but you're going to wish you had another dish. The Montecristo Sandwich is another winner. At first glance it looks like a plate of french toast but of course inside are layers of swiss and ham. It's not served with maple syrup but I truly believe that if it were the syrup would take this meal to the next level. Despite what some of the reviews say, I would not necessarily call this a fine dining establishment. This is a cute, quaint restaurant that serves homemade food of quality ingredients in insulting small portions for a premium price. Nearly $30 for "oxtail" ravioli...the huge bowl came with 12 pieces of ravioli which were the length and width of half of a short woman's thumb. It was like if someone took regular ravioli and shrunk it down for dolls...that size. It was delicious, fresh, and clearly made of great ingredients..but the portion was so small that I had to order a second entree. I'm a 5'10, 140 lb for ref so I don't eat a ton...that's just how small the portions were. Also! Clearly someone who listens to a lot of black music composed this menu because they have a few drinks named after classic rap songs, like Who Down w OPP. Sunday funday! I found this place through yelp and was very glad that I closed out the weekend with brunch at Aita's. It was very warm and was surprised to notice there wasn't any AC. It turned out to be fine but a bit toasty as you were waiting for a seat. I believe they were short staffed or at least it seemed they were stretched pretty thin. We waiting around 15 minutes for the hostess to seat us. It wasn't an issue as it gave me time to decided what I was going to get because I'm pretty indecisive. Once I was seated I ordered almost immediately. There are so many good things on the brunch menu that it was difficult to decided. I ultimately chose the salmon hash which was incredible but also looked at breakfast, scrambled, and eggs benedict. I definitely made the right choice. The salmon was very good and the combination of the bacon, potatoes, and scallions topped with the fried egg was amazing! I was a bit nervous about how much salmon I'd actually get, but I was glad to see they included a healthy portion. This spot serves an amazing brunch!! I came here with a friend on a beautiful fall day and we sat outside. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. We both ordered the Breakfast which comes with two eggs any style, buttermilk blueberry pancakes, home fries, bacon, and market greens. I know this may seem like a lot of food, yet, the portion size of this meal was absolutely perfect! Every single item of this meal was cooked to perfection. I would love to brunch here again! All I can say is visit this restaurant and order the Breakfast, your taste buds will thank you. read more

GREAT service and delicious food. I had the fettuccine w/sea scallops and fusilli lunghi and they were both delicious. We also had the rib eye steak and it was cooked perfectly -- so tender! I'll definitely have to come back. read more

I love the food here so would not really be commenting about that, and hope that it will be a standard staple whenever I come since it is consistent but we went to a bunch last weekend last minute and there was literally a used condom next to us at the outdoor booths. We reported the incident and nothing was done to make us feel better about it even though we all lost our appetite. Just a super strange move. I was a server back in the day so just know that maybe doing something on the house would have gone a long way, but not expecting that of course (and we tipped 25% anyway) What was even more strange was that the waitress told us this has happened last weekend as well and just went about her day. read more

I have been to a lot of brunch spots in NYC and hands down this is the best one I've ever spent a Sunday at. It's everything you want - delicious food (at reasonable prices), impeccable service, and the most enjoyable environment. The outdoor tables are actually heated and the music is not too loud (with great songs!!). Your food arrives at a quick American speed but you have the luxury of eating at a luxurious European pace. The menu has every option you could want. I highly recommend any of the benedicts. The breakfast potatoes were cooked to perfection. The bombolonis were TO DIE FOR. I don't know if I'll ever think it's worth it to eat brunch somewhere else. I can't wait to come back for dinner. Before I go into detail about my experience, Aita is definitely a MUST TRY!Everything I had was delicious and well balanced with flavor. So, this is a small but cute restaurant. Or as yelpers like to say "intimate". I went on Mother's Day Sunday right before the dinner rush. When we arrived @4:45p the hostess told us that there are 6p reservations so we have an hour & fifteen minutes.... (Ummm okay. Thank you putting a timer on my meal .) The dining server didn't seem to enthused about being employed... But she was pleasant. The nicest person in the establishment was the kitchen server. Everyone else was a lil cold. But we put our orders in & the turn around was quick. We had an appetizer, entrees, and dessert. Believe it or not, we were finished in our allotted amount of time. We left very satisfied and not feeling guilty at all about eating Italian. The ingredients were fresh and blended to perfection ! Four stars instead of five because of staff. read more
