I'm not surprised - it's sort the way of the (non) service industry today and especially in this area with its incredible wealth and overpopulated area - there's always more customers so there is not much effort to keep customers or even treat very long term customers with respect. In any case, I'm loyal but when I'm mistreated m, I'll shift my loyalty. I know D&D doesn't care. I unfortunately have a contract for another with them but I'll be calling others as my AC unit is quite and I know it needs to be replaced in next few years and I need a reliable HVAC company. A different tech was dispatched and proceeded to tell us the thermostat was somehow to blame. That tech then ineptly rewired our compressor and told us the reversing valve was bad and that the overflow was because the whole AC unit was due for a $10k replacement. After a lot of frustration and worry, I decided to do my own work. I bought equipment to blow out the drain myself and sure enough, the first tech had managed to clog it, because once I did it myself, the system ran fine for the rest of the cooling season. Dry as a bone; not a single pan overflow. There was $10k saved. When it came time to switch to heat mode, the system wouldn't switch. Since I was told the reversing valve was bad, I thought that might be it. So I called a different company. Their tech took one look at the compressor and said "This is wired incorrectly, someone jumped your heat and ac lines together." The tech from a different company rewired it and the system entered heat mode with no issue. They say, don't attribute to malice that which can be attributed incompetence. So when one Atlantic Coastal tech clogs the drain line, then the second incorrectly rewires the compressor before telling me the whole system needs replacement... The nicest thing I can do is attribute it to incompetence.

We hired Borchers Mechanical Services because the owner seemed knowledgeable about our need to heat…read moreand cool apx 2,700 sq ft with a 2 head ductless system. The installation worked fine for just under two years. In Jan 2026 the system failed due to a refrigerant leak-which overheats the compressor so there is no heat or AC. This is not normal for such a new system and was ultimately traced to a damaged fitting (which the mechanic, who is the son of the owner, admitted to causing during original installation). Borchers was slow to respond, clearly prioritized new installs over repairs, and had poor communication throughout. They initially recharged the system as a temporary fix without properly diagnosing it, charged us $228, and the system failed again within hours. After more delays, they finally replaced the faulty fitting but billed us an additional $864, despite the issue being caused by their original work. Customer service was terrible (they acted like they were doing us a favor, when they were fixing their mistakes), there was no accountability or apology, and they hid behind a 30-day warranty for what was clearly an installation defect on a $15,000 system. While the install looked good and worked for two years, the handling of repairs was unprofessional and disappointing. We also received no clarity that this recent fix would work or about a warranty on this fix. When I asked if we might be doing this again in 2 months (ie, was this an actual fix) the mechanic said he didn't know. I wrote the guy a check to get him off my property. I do not recommend this company.

I'm told not to worry - it's just as good or better than what was quoted me. Mario struggled a bit to finish the installation by himself. The seaming of the ductwork looked sloppy. When Andy returned from vacation, I asked him to come out and he cleaned it up. I will say I have no complaints about the equipment. Andy said since it's new, it won't need any service for the first two years. So, three months ago I call to schedule my routine service. I get their recording. No problem, I leave a message. Don't hear back. Two months ago, I call and leave another message. Still no word. A week ago, I call and leave a third message. No word. OK, I'm a patient person, but I'm moving on. Equipment gets 5 stars; service gets 2 stars. Not sure if they are still in business.
