Tech from BMC Clover parked the truck so that it was less than 2 ft from my driveway. It was blocking my vision entering and exiting my driveway. When I asked driver to move he became defensive, beligerent and agressive in tone. Even use the F- word. I will NEVER USE BC CLOVER and DO NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone. A company that has a person representing them who lacks accountabily, doesn't follow county drivewary clearance laws, and is hostile, rather than apologetic, and is not someone I would entrust in my home or een my neighborhood. Bad business practice! read more

We have had nothing but good experiences with this company. They even solved a 20 year-long standing problem with our two zone HVAC system. John was particularly helpful in trouble shooting and the plan they developed was carried out quickly and professionally - and it worked. We just had our furnace go out during this cold snap and they got someone out to see us ASAP. The front desk folks are professional, friendly and helpful. They're our go to for HVAC! read more

This company installed a furnace and it's still not working. Their technician came out, said he needed a part but never came back. It's freezing in the house (mid December). I am a senior citizen who has had two strokes. This is criminal to treat a senior citizen this way. Their failure to schedule a follow-up appointment is appalling - it's been over two weeks. Even wearing my coat can't compensate for the fact that the outside temperature is 20 degrees. I gave my kids their name in the event I should die in the house. Buyer beware. read more

I had BMC Clower HVAC install 2 complete sysrems for me and my wife. They installed 2 Carrier gas firnaces,2 Carrier super high eff. A/C units abd 2 Carrier matching "A" coils. To say that I'm satisfied is a understatment. The men that did the job were were excellent. They completed the whole job in 2 days and it turned out fantastic. Both systems wre designed by John Clower and they are working excellent. I can't stress how pleased we are. They were super competitive on their price and everthing went according to schedule. They left the work area completely clean and all old units and boxes were hauled away. They did a complete test of the new equipment and it is working wonderfully. If you want a hassle free and a quality job, call them. Again a job well done. Please feel free to use me as a reference. I had a great experience with BMC Clower - I found them after asking for recommendations on my neighborhood listserv. I moved into new house and wanted A/C and heating system checked out at the same time. The BMC technician went above and beyond getting access to my rooftop A/C unit. He also snapped some helpful pictures showing an issue with the installation of the A/C unit done by the previous owners. He also sealed a hole he found on the boiler's exhaust vent. I also appreciated the invoice detailed the work done and the issues found or addressed. Price was very reasonable and customer service was excellent. read more

I've used this company for years for service and repairs. Responsive and they do their best to fit you in even on weekends and evenings when the issue is urgent. When the diagnosis is trivial they charge minimally and are always honest. read more

I have to say, since our original difficulties, BMC Clower has really been great to work with. They've come to check our system and it was reasonably priced and the tech was efficient, COVID conscious, and kind. I would guess that our previous difficulties were just due to miscommunication and COVID growing pains. I would definitely recommend them now for mini split install and maintenance! read more

I've been unhappy with the quality of the service I've gotten. I've had multiple occasions of things being incorrectly diagnosed and being charged for parts that it looks like I may not have needed. read more

I was seeking an estimate to replace a gas boiler in our 100-year-old home. I called BMC Clower because of the good Yelp reviews and because they were an approved contractor with the DCSEU. The owner, John, came to the house and suggested I have our chimney checked out and capped (I didn't even know the chimney cap was missing) before spending a small fortune on the boiler. We did and then he sent Joe to the house to fire up the boiler that we shut off a few months earlier. Joe was great, very thorough, even going through the house to bleed all the radiators. Ultimately, though, the boiler just needed replacing. I did not go with BMC Clower to do that job as I got a lower estimate from another company for a higher efficiency boiler. I really did like John and Joe and appreciated them trying to see if we didn't need to spend the money on the new boiler to start. I recommend them. read more

Absolutely the BEST heating and air conditioning contractor I have ever worked with! You will not go wrong with this company, and if I could give them more stars, I would. Our heating system (furnace) died on New Years Day, and the temperatures were in the single digits outside. With minimal heat (the aging heat pump was trying, but couldn't keep up) and no hot water, we were faced with what was just short of an emergency. John (the owner) came out the same that I called his company and took his time to evaluate my system. He re-wired the heat pump to give us a bit of heat, provided a thorough explanation of what was involved with a system replacement, and e-mailed me three options for a new system by 10:00 am the next morning. Given my circumstances, John could have easily quoted me very high prices; he didn't, and that speaks to his integrity. His prices are competitive, and John didn't take advantage of the fact that I needed a new system immediately. We decided on the system we wanted to have installed, and, realizing that temperatures were going to stay in the single digits, John moved some schedules around to make our installation a priority. His team showed up at 7:00 am the next day, and worked until almost 9:00 pm. They removed my old system and installed a new hot water tank, furnace, and heat pump. Every single one of them was professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. Watching them work together on a complex installation was nothing short of inspiring, and it was very clear to me that they all had a great deal of experience! Here is the bottom line--after my experience with BMC/Clower, I will not do business with any other HVAC contractor in the area. Responsive, professional, and fairly priced, you just cannot go wrong with this company! read more

Our A/C died in late May, and we wanted to get a new heat pump installed before the summer temperatures arrived. We got estimates from four different companies and settled on BMC/Clower because of a balance of price, quality and service contract. Two weeks after we selected them, our new Lennox heat pump was installed. It took about a day and a half and worked well from the start. Love the thermostat...certainly beats the Nest. They returned a couple of months later to install the heating interface. The installers were uniformly polite and neat the whole time. read more

This review is long overdue. Clower replaced my upstairs unit and completely rebuilt the duct system in my attic. They were a pleasure to deal with. Everybody was very professional (Sarah, Kayt and John and also the team that worked at my home, headed by Matt). They were always very responsive even with a couple of slight issues that needed to be addressed. Highly recommend! read more

To start, I should say I give five stars only for surprisingly exceptional, over the top perfect experiences. These folks are awesome. I've totally found my go-to AC people in Silver Spring. Last summer, our AC blower died, not only at the peak of a D.C. summer but also, just a few days before a big party we'd scheduled at our house. A technician came in, diagnosed the problem and requested the part. The next day he came and installed it. Unfortunately, that part died later that day. The company managed to get another blower the next morning and installed that one; it's been working ever since. We've had them back for an estimate for some work and to help diagnose and fix a leak; they also helped with a wiring issue for a thermostat. Awesome! Don't waste your time calling anyone else. read more

The technician came late on a Saturday morning. No phone call. I was subsequently told by a customer service representative that technicians may come late if they have child responsibilities. In the absence of receiving a phone call, I do not know if this was the technician's issue. Nor do I know if he made a sincere effort to get to my home in downtown Silver Spring, (a mile from the main office), by 8:00 am. Working night shifts, taking on the responsibility of being ready to go at 8:00 am was burdensome to me. I did not feel appreciated for my effort and neither did I feel respected. read more

BMC/Clower has just done a complete replacement of our HVAC systems. They had been recommended by one of our neighbors and we have been impressed from our first contact with this company when the owner, himself, came to assess our needs. Looking at the ductwork in our utility room, Mr. Clower correctly identified why some of the areas in our house never got enough A/C or heat! His written estimate gave us 3 levels of recommended Lennox systems (what he and other HVAC pros have ID'd as the most reliable and trouble-free in today's market). After receiving his estimates, Mr. Clower did not try to "upsell" us to choose the most expensive units. He already knew the efficiency levels and models that would work well in our house and what made economic sense! When the technicians arrived, we found them to be experts - knowledgeable and well-trained, and very pleasant! They already had instructions from Mr. Clower to make the modifications to our ductwork that he had discussed with us and the technicians even changed the location of the duct dampers, having noticed that they weren't in the right place to be effective! And, receiving our bill, we saw that nothing had been added for these modifications! Now, the air temperature in our house is markedly more balanced, even in the farthest areas from the furnace blower! We have never been so comfortable in our Great Room addition or 2nd floor Master BR, neither of which have ever been well supplied with heated/cooled air! We could have paid thousands more for our HVAC replacements and never gotten the kind of advice on what to buy, what could be done to make our house more comfortable, and the superlative installation that we have received from BMC/Clower! They are a small, well-managed HVAC company that deserves to thrive! Nita Vorisek Lanier Dr. Silver Spring read more

I had to replace the entire a/c system unexpectedly at the beginning of June. John's proposal was not only fairly priced, but provided insight into how to improve the way the equipment was positioned. Kenny and Matt, the technicians, were professional, polite, diligent, and left the area neat and clean. Sarah, the coordinator, was professional and well organized. Kayte sent the rebate forms and provided an itemized bill on the afternoon the installation was complete. Very good company to work with, and very good value for the money. And, by the way, I'm already realizing that we made the right decision because of the system features I didn't even realize would be included. read more

Cannot begin to thank BMC/Clower Heating & AC enough for their quick service and helpful staff. Woke up yesterday to a frozen unit outside. Called their office at 730am and Sarah was so helpful and followed up with me twice during the day to see if the unit had defrosted so she could send a guy out. Joe was here by 230pm once the unit defrosted and diagnosed the problem. Parts have to be ordered but we are assured they will be in and the unit will be fixed before the end of the week. Also told us how to use our heat pump if needed in the meantime. Great service and most importantly great customer care. I highly recommend BMC/Clower for all your HVAC needs 301-562-9001 read more

BMC Clower saved me from the 90 degree heat! My AC wasn't working. When I called, they were able to schedule an appointment with 48 hours. Nick the Technician quickly diagnosed the problem, and everything was resolved within a few days, despite needing to special order the part for my unit. They provided great service. I would definitely call them again. read more

I am so happy with BMC/Clower. I started using them about five years ago when my rental condo needed a new HVAC unit and I was in Thailand! Working with Sarah in the office and a friend of mine on the ground BMC/Clower removed and installed a new unit (using a crane!) and have kept that system and three other of mine humming along nicely ever since. What really distinguishes them seems to be both Sarah and Katy in the front office and John Clower's commitment to honest dealings with his clients. According to Jimmy, the tech I wish I could adopt as my son, when hired, in addition to the technical training he already had, he went to a basically business ethics course. The techs are paid for the work they do, not sales commission, and not for drumming up new business by padding the bills with fake repairs. I couldn't appreciate this approach to business more. In a world where customers are often taken advantage of it's so nice to know that at BMC/Clower are honest. read more

I wanted to share my experience here because the great reviews on Yelp is what led me to use BMC Clower. They serviced our furnace once and unclogged a drain from our furnace for us and I was generally satisfied with their service (tech was a bit too chatty, cost to unclog drain seemed a bit high but whatever). Recently we got a quote from them to change a couple of return vents to supply vents in rooms we had that were cold. The quote was $1,200 and my husband and I being unknowledgeable about this stuff and busy professionals responded to the email we got with the quote and said that we wanted to proceed with the work. After weeks of not hearing from them and being frustrated that they didn't seem interested in our business, we contacted another HVAC company, they quoted $425 for the same work and also suggested running a carbon monoxide test given the age of our furnace- they said this is something that BMC Clower should have done when they serviced our furnace. It turns out the levels of Carbon Monoxide were dangerously high and our furnace needs to be replaced. I am very unhappy that our 18 month old has been breathing unhealthy air when BMC Clower should have caught this issue over a year ago. That plus the quote we received that was 3 times as high as the other company's leads me to discourage others from using BMC Clower. read more

Bravo to your team, specifically your tech Joe York!! Joe solved a problem that two other plumbers/electricians and a contractor were unable to solve in 30 minutes!! Thank you for saving my AC system while also being so courteous and timely! read more

I can't say enough great things about BMC Clower. As a real estate agent, I am always looking for reputable contractors to recommend and am frequently let down by people who make promises and don't deliver. BMC Clower are honest, fair and knowledgeable--which seems to be a rarity in the HVAC industry. I just used them personally on my own home and they installed one of the most energy efficient heat pumps available and did an incredible job. The previous owners of our home screwed everything up with the HVAC so that the zoned systems were completely unbalanced and running all of the time. Our heating and cooling bills were ridiculous because our systems were running CONSTANTLY. John (the owner) of BMC Clower came out, assessed our system and came up with a plan that revamped all of the things that were wrong with the prior installation including leaking and improperly installed ducts. He listened to our very specific needs and saved us a ton by showing us how just one Lennox system with electronic dampers could be zoned to do the work of two units. Our system is now zoned and programmable so that rooms of the house that are unoccupied during the day or night aren't constantly being heated/cooled. In addition, the system fan runs at any speed (from 0-100%) when necessary instead of a typical hi-lo speed system. Our savings were instant once the system was up and running. John's staff even handled all of the rebates that we were eligible for. We received our $1300 Lennox rebate before the system was even fully up and running! I will also mention that we got estimates from several other companies--some good, some bad, some from people that seemed completely clueless and one from a company that wanted way too much money. BMC Clower wasn't the cheapest but they were the best by far. We've had several HVAC systems installed in the past (in 4 other homes) and no one has come close to the quality of the installation of BMC Clower. I also want to say that the technicians, Kenny and Matt, were super nice guys and hard workers. I noticed that someone posted a negative review based on the fact that they were late or missed an appointment. Really? Come on...judge a company on their work not because they ran over with a customer and missed an appointment. Trust me...they'll stay longer at your home to do the job right if it means being a little late to the next customer. There are HVAC companies out there that do a good job servicing systems but John and his team know so much more about how to properly install a system for maximum efficiency, air flow and static pressure. I hope this review helps when choosing an HVAC contractor. You will not be disappointed in BMC Clower! read more
